This historical and cozy bach has a rural outlook and is just a short stroll to the beach. A character bach that started life as a Mill worker’s hut, it has since been a holiday park cabin and home. It is now enjoyed as a holiday house, and is well equipped for your stay. This is the place to stay if you want a true kiwi bach experience and don’t expect perfection.
The bach is a perfect location to get to the best parts of Golden Bay: Wharariki, Farewell Spit, Whanganui Inlet & Kaihoka lakes. There are many great walks and beaches nearby, good swimming spots at Pakawau Beach, along with abundant birdlife. The bach is also in the heart of Kingfish country - an incredible flats fishing experience and an international fly fishing destination.
Sunny & warm the bach is perfect for visits all year round. There is a new log burner with plenty of wood making it very cosy in winter. There is lots of outdoor furniture, board games, books, TV and DVD player, BBQ, and the kitchen is very well equipped. We are chipping away to make improvements all the time.
Pets are welcome and encouraged! The section is fully fenced. We just ask that you clean up after them & not let them on the furniture.
Currently the bach can sleep 4-5 people comfortably (1 x Queen bed, 1 x double bed/with single bunk on top).
Please bring your own linen & towels. (Pillows, Duvet & cover provided)
We ask guests to leave the back as they found it- clean & tidy.

What a beautiful spot in paradise to have guilt free relax and recuperate and to celebrate my 64th birthday. With breakfast and coffee on the sunny deck in the mornings, to cosied up in the evenings with our books or a DVD. The cottage was so lovely to stay in with comfortable beds and great shower. I particularly wanted a holiday to take my dog with me and this little gem was the best place. We enjoyed long walks along the beach everyday. The cottage was well equipped with everything we needed. My niece who accompanied me, visiting from Germany, did not want to leave. We enjoyed a friendly chat with the neighbors, Laura and Jason and fed Royal, the local horse, some carrots and also met his owner and learnt of Royals life, as I own horses myself, this was interesting. The weather was stunning except one day which we stayed inside, lit the fire and cosied up with our books. We had a lovely Birthday meal at the Mussell Inn, 15 mins drive away. Emma our host , was prompt and helpful with our bookings and information. The only little let down was the cottage had not been vacuumed before our arrival from previous tenants and the stove was dirty. We did an 1.5 hour clean before we left to ensure the next tenants for Easter were greeted with freshness. Apart from that, it was excellent and one day we would love to come back.
The cottage was very comfortable and had everything we needed. The location was particularly good and the dogs enjoyed the sand flats and Pakawau Beach.
Accommodation has everything you need and is an old style bach .Dogs loved access to beach ..great for running them and nice to have the isolation from yappy lap dogs in town.
My K9 friend Kairo and I loved out stay.
It was lovely to have the fire each night.
Great location set base ourselves while touring around.
Was so nice to unwind for a couple of days while doing Kairo's Suicide Awareness Ride for 6 weeks around the south island
