Thanks for your review! Just for folks reading this - if you look at pictures of the cabin you'll see we have a claw-foot soaker tub that has a hand held nozzle if folks want to shower : )

Wow! Thanks so much for your review and we are so glad that our cabin made you feel so wonderfully relaxed : ). I feel that way every time I get in the woods behind the cabins : )
Nice cozy little cabin. Stayed for the night do do some thinking and exploring. The host was very polite and checked in on you to make sure you’re settled in and answer any questions there may be. The kitchen and bathroom was nice and the tap water was well filtered.
Clean, cute, and close to everything you need. This cabin backs to the most AMAZING woods that go on forever. Close to town. Easy check in process. Perfect stay. Will definitely return.

Cute Cabin But Very Small
The cabin is nice and in a great location but it is extremely small. The beds are only accessible via a very steep ladder that elderly or mobility challenged folks may have trouble with. The hideaway bed in the couch was dirty and not very comfortable. However the owner was very responsive and cleaned it for us.

Hi Marc and thank you for your review. With the utmost respect I feel that the 2 star rating should be based on you planning your stay appropriately. We list under our property description that the cabin size is 640 sq feet so to say it is small isn't fair when that info was available to you. Also we have pictures showing how many beds are in the loft and how you access it. If you are an elderly person who has trouble navigating things then you should be extra diligent in finding a property that can accommodate your special needs.
Lastly the wonderful part of our business is that we are next door so we can address guest issues immediately as we did with the pullout. As a business owner, we don't always know what previous guests have used or done to the cabin i.e. dirty dishes put away. We have been in business for 23 years and believe we have been so successful is because of our attention to detail to avoid the problems to encountered because you didn't read about the property details of the accommodations you chose.
Property was as advertised, clean, and had everything we needed for a birthday ski weekend with teens and friends. The hosts are super friendly and responsive. They even maintained communication with me to help me retrieve an item I’d left behind! We are happy, satisfied guests and would stay again!

My husband and I stayed for a week here for an anniversary trip to Alaska. We really enjoyed our accommodations- the cabin sits on a beautiful woodline and moose frequent the area! We had everything we needed while at the Hideaway cabin- our hosts were very kind and communicative and provided valuable information of the surrounding area. We felt that we were also in a good central location to explore other areas, like Seward, Whittier, and Anchorage. Girdwood, in itself, is a beautiful area with a nice brewery close by and lots of beautiful trails around the Alyeska Resort. We felt that we got a true Alaskan experience during our stay here and were glad to support Alaskan natives in their rental business.

Great property!!! Very beautiful landscape. It is an original old fashion cabin that will enhance your Alaskan experience. I LOVED the tub. It wasn’t an ordinary experience and for that we were grateful. Only thing I’d suggest is maybe a newer coffee pot that brews faster. You will love it here!

Hi there and thanks so much for your kind review! Someone else also commented on the coffee maker, and we went out and bought a new one right away🙂
Loved the location of this small cabin! Close to the town of Girdwood, between Anchorage and Kenai. We had 5 people (2 adults and 3 big kids) and it was a bit small. I would recommend no more than 3/4 as the upstairs double bed was under the a-frame roof so not really enough space for 2 people in the bed. Nonetheless, comfortable and great for our short stay.

Thank you so much for your review and glad you folks had a good time.
I wanted to just leave a note about the bed upstairs - it is a full sized bed and it is on a frame that has wheels so you pull it away from the wall/ceiling for more space. : )
Thanks again : )

Charming Cabin, space to breathe, Fantastic Location
Everything was as described and we found the setting to be relaxing and convenient to all the things we wanted to do. The house is tucked away at the end of a little road and Lynne and her sweet pups were there to greet us when we arrived. The kitchen was well stocked and my only complaint was the kitchen faucet, which was hard to get in just the right position for consistent, hot water. We never use the woodstove, but there was a handy gas heater that was easy to turn on in the evening
We would 100% stay here again!!

Overall, this is a nice cabin in a beautiful setting. The kitchen is very nice. The host was very helpful and friendly, and pointed us to a nice hike in the area. That said, the beds were not the best. The king bed squeaked and its headboard rattled with the slightest movement. I'm not sure what was going on with the mattress pad on the full sized bed, but it was very scratchy and irritating.

Cute property, a bit small for our party of 5
This property is a lovely little cabin in Girdwood. However, the sleeping situation was a challenge for our family of 5 which includes three teenagers. Be aware that the loft bedroom has a nice king size bed, but the second bed is tucked under the A frame ceiling in a manner that only one of our teens could sleep there. The third bed (a couch/futon on the main floor) was also comfortable for only one teen/adult, which meant that our third teen spent the night on the floor. The owners were very nice and were thoughtful enough to call us before check-in to make sure we knew of some local construction that made it difficult to see the street sign. Overall, I would recommend this property for smaller groups.

Thank you for your kind comments Melissa and the information for future guests about the cabin layout. It is always helpful to get comments from previous guests.
If you make it to Girdwood again please come to Alyeska Hidaweay for another stay - we are building a two bedroom cabin on the side of our home that will be able accommodate another group of 6 people (max.). The new cabin will probably be a better fit for 6 adults where our current cabin is a better fit for a family with smaller kids.
Thank you again for choosing Alyeska Hideaway and hope you made many great memories on your travels in Alaska

Nice Location tough stairway
The owner is quite good about communication so we knew all to expect in regard to construction on another unit and the highway work underway. Girdwood is a quaint little town with several very good restaurants. It is conveniently located nicely between Anchorage and Whittier. The cabin is decently appointed and suffices as a short stay vacation cabin. For me with bad knees it would have been nice to know that the steps to that second floor loft is essentially a ladder. You pretty much must leave all of your clothing downstairs as there is no place to keep your clothing upstairs. This is not very private but is set back in the woods with other homes.
Any criticism is outweighed by the location and the care and concern of the owners.
I can't begin to tell you how much we enjoyed our accommodations in Girdwood. Pat and Lynne were wonderful hosts. The property was just perfect for myself, the wife and our 10 year old. We utilized it as our home base as we skied Alyeska for 3 days. It's close enough to everything Girdwood has to offer. Everything is just a mile or two away. We arrived to find our cabin ready to go with parking marked and a sign with our name on it, so we knew we had arrived at the right destination. The cabin was warm, cozy and just right for the 3 of us. The host provided a book that had menus from local restaurants, shopping destinations and just a great source of overall information for the area. A really nice touch. I would recommend that you bring your streaming passwords with you as they have a Roku TV that you can sign in to. The WI-FI worked just fine too. I had great communication with Lynne leading up to our arrival and Patrick was on hand to answer any questions the moment we pulled in to park. I most definitely would stay here again. It was so beautiful here during the winter, I can only imagine the how nice it is during summer. The drive in from Anchorage is just gorgeous!
It was everything promised and more ! Everything was perfectly set up for a short stay. Very beautiful time to enjoy the snow and we even slipped a hike to the falls.
My grown children and I stayed for a weekend getaway during the holidays. It was just what we needed. Adorable place. Great location. Friendly owners. Plan to book again in the future
