Key West Suites Hotel
Welcome to your charming private studio apartment right on Duval street! Built in 1919, it used to be called the Central Hotel because it’s located at the most central location on Duval bordering Southard Street and is just steps up on the second floor overlooking both Duval and Southard Streets.
The building once housed the Chrysler/Desoto car dealership, a furniture store, and later a clothing store when the Beatles came to make a purchase which caused the cashier to pass out on the floor. It has since been refurbished into a beautiful art gallery, two restaurants, a bar, and the newly renovated apartments upstairs. The stately solid concrete building is extremely quiet so that you can’t really hear much of Duval despite being right on Duval.
This in an unbelievable place and is priced right for what you get and the location. Absolutely everything is new, it was gutted and redone top to bottom. The floors and kitchen and bathroom were completely ripped out and rebuilt. All the top end appliances are brand new. The floor is completely new, the ceiling fans, new, lights, new, the bathroom with huge slab tile and solid glass partition, all new and amazing. When you walk in you are overwhelmed with a Wow factor! The biggest comments I hear from tenants is great location, much larger than I could imagine, clean, and silent. You may need a white noise machine to sleep because of how quiet it is. Someone who wants to be in old town on Duval in a luxury space this is more than awesome.
The (201-814, 202-677,203-677, 204-677, 205-867) sq.ft. studio apartment boasts 10-foot ceilings with fans, 2 King beds (Sealy Posturepedic) plus a Queen size pull out leather sofa bed, huge 55-inch Samsung 4k smart tv, HD cable, Keurig coffee maker, full kitchen with pots, pans, plates etc., fridge with ice maker, stove/range, full length mirror, large window looking onto Duval and Southard street, complimentary extreme speed xfinity Wi-Fi and a huge luxury shower for rinsing off your salt of the sea.
The corner of Southard and Duval is right downstairs, and from there you can reach in near equal distance Fort Zachary state park beach, Mallory Square, Hemmingway’s house, and the Southernmost point. There’s also great eating next door, the noodle shop Kojin, Thai and the best sushi Miso Happy, Cuban coffee queen for breakfast and lunch, keys coffee across the street with excellent sandwiches, Mr. Z's cheesesteaks across the street, the best vegetables at the Café across the street, fine dining within a block, great live music venue bars also within a block, and a quarter mile from ft Zachery state park.
You must be able to bring your own luggage up two flights of stairs as it’s on the second floor, and there is no elevator to the historic building.
The clean fee of $175 is a pass-through charge, it’s what the cleaners charge me, so unfortunately, it’s not negotiable.
You won’t need a car, but if you do have one Parking is public on the street at metered spaces. You must provide your own parking. The cheapest way to park is to first unload your car at Key West Suites Hotel after paying the meter, then park and pay at the City owned “Park and Ride” corner of Grinnell and Caroline Street, then simply walk everywhere. You can walk from the garage to the unit or keep the parking stub and ride their free shuttle or the free Duval Loop bus. Just Google Duval Loop Bus Key West and it should come up, and on their bus route map it also shows the City Parking lots around Key West. Most of the street parking and lots cap out at 10 hours and have to be refilled every 10 hours or so, but some lots let you refill every 24 hours. It's about $32 to $36 per day to park. There’s usually plenty of parking though close to very close to the unit.
There are plenty of bike racks all around the building, neighboring streets and pretty much all over town. Some people rent bikes, some rent scooters, some rent electric cars, but you can also walk everywhere in old town from the unit. Scooters and electric cars are treated the same as cars parking wise. There aren’t electric outlets near the unit to the street so make sure any electric vehicles have enough charge for you stay.
Key West allows Uber and Lyft besides the town cabs for which there are several companies.
