About this property
Quintessential Tahoe Cabin, Private beach, kayaks, Max Occ 4 adults 2 kids
The Little Stone is located in the small, gated community of Elk Point, in Zephyr Cove, NV. It was built in 1927 with granite from the excavation of nearby Cave Rock Tunnel. Although it retains all the charm of a 1920s cabin, this mountain retreat was completely modernized in 2008 and won Mountain Home Magazine’s “Best Historic Preservation” award. Winter or summer, the Little Stone House is comfortable and inviting. The beautiful stone fireplace makes the cozy living room so relaxing after your day on the slopes. In the warmer months, this charming house provides several outdoor spaces to enjoy the beautiful scenery. Upstairs, there are two bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms – one with a large marble shower, and the other with the original clawfoot bathtub which will take you back to a simpler time as you soak and look out the skylight above. The sofa sleeper in the loft is the perfect place for the kids to sleep since there is no privacy. A small deck off the king bedroom is a relaxing spot for your morning coffee. There is also a half bathroom downstairs. The beautifully remodeled and fully equipped kitchen features marble counters and a copper farm sink, and the dining room comfortably seats six. The back deck, shaded by tall pines, has a filtered view of the lake, and the outdoor pergola with a dining table that seats eight. The Elk Point community has a large private beach, which you can reach by car or a five-minute walk. The beach features a roped swim area with an anchored swim and dive platform, a beach volleyball court and horseshoe pit. Double and single kayaks, stand up paddle board, bikes, water toys, sunshades and several sizes of life jackets are available for your use. Douglas County, Nevada Ordinance requires the following information. We are limited to 6 people. No more than 4 adults. All cars must be parked on the property at night. No street parking or on other's property is allowed. We can only support 2 vehicles if one is small enough to fit in the garage. Small to medium SUVs will fit. You will be issued parking permits which must always be displayed. These rules are subject to $1000 fine if not followed. Quiet hours are from 9:00 PM to 8:00 AM and are strictly enforced. No one under the age of 25 may rent the house. As with most lodging, copy of the renter's driver's license is required by Douglas County, Nevada. You will be required to sign an agreement from our Homeowners Association. A copy of the agreement can be found in this property listing for you to preview. For everyone's safety we maintain a motion activated outside security camera above the garage.

Very charming historic home renovated with all modern conveniences. Beautifulneighborhood and great location. Kayaks, bikes, beach chairs and toys included for use at the community's private beach. Lake Tahoe has so much to enjoy for both young and old. Great place for a vacation or weekend get away.
Host was very good. House was adorable and location great. Unfortunately construction of a new house lead to constant noise and disruption of what would have been a relaxing week
We loved the Little Stone House, such a welcoming home & just right for our family. The private dock was a highlight, with kayaks and SUP and all the beach toys!

Absolutely magical stay here with my husband for my ten year anniversary. We brought our two toddlers and two friends of the family and had possibly the best vacation ever! The house was gorgeous and so special…I’ve stayed in Tahoe a million times and all the houses feel the same but this one is on another level. The private neighborhood is so good for peace and quiet, and the quick walk to the private beach cannot be beat (especially when little ones are involved). We grilled out back and ate meals outside most nights, and the rest of the time went to all the great spots close to the house. 20/10 I will be trying to stay here every time I come back now.
Our stay couldn’t have been any better. Everything was smooth from checking in to checking out. Our goal is to stay here again in the near future. Nancy is a world class host!
Our family had a wonderful time at the Little Stone House! The house was true to the pictures and very well appointed. History meets modern convenience. A great place to stay for a family ski trip.

We had a great time staying here. The house was clean. The kitchen was well stocked and the views were great! The loft has plenty of games for the family. Nancy was a delight to work with. We booked last minute and it was easy and the communication was great. We will definitely book this again!

The Little Stone House was perfect for our family getaway celebrating our daughter's high school graduation. It had plenty of room for all four of us. The view from the back deck was a favorite for morning coffee and sunsets. The private beach was walkable and super convenient to drive and park when bringing more beach equipment. A wonderful trip!

About the host
Hosted by Nancy G
My husband and I have lived in the area our entire lives. We are managing and maintaining this property ourselves in order to provide you a quality service. Nancy is an avid hiker and has hiked the Tahoe Rim Trail thirteen times as well as most other trails in the area and would love to help you with your hiking decisions.
Why they chose this property
Because we grew up in the area and we are not young, we remember Tahoe when it was quieter and slower. Entering the gates to Elk Point is like going back to our youth. The house was built in the 1920s with granite from the excavation of the original Cave Rock Tunnel. The previous owners went to great lengths to give you the old feel with all the modern conveniences. It won the Mountain Home Magazine's "Historic Preservation Award" in 2010. We have fallen in love with the house and the community.
What makes this property unique
The quaint community of Elk Point has a private beach and access to hiking and biking trails without getting in a car. A beach restaurant and bar within a short walking distance. A full service grocery store less than a mile and you never have to get on the highway. The community is small and very quiet. The beach is incredible and rarely crowded. There is a beach volleyball court, a horseshoe pit and kayaks at the beach. Edgewood Golf Course, Harvey's outdoor theater, Heavenly Valley Ski Resort, Tahoe Rim Trail, Flume Trail, Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, MS Dixie, winter snowmobiling, sledding, ice skating, and the Stateline casinos are all very close. Great house, great beach and great location.
