The property is great. Comfortable beds, great deck, great beach. The reason for the poor rating, (and I have never left a poor rating before) is due to the rental management company. Smith Mountain Lake Vacation Rentals LLC is the absolute worst vacation rental company that I have ever dealt with. Should the owner switch to a higher quality company to run their rental, I would change my rating. During our trip, the company sent a message to look at the refrigerator on how to take care of our garbage. Taped to the refrigerator was a note about dropping off the garbage at the dump 3 miles away. The problem is, we are leaving at 5:30 am for our 14 hour drive home and the dump (which I am guessing one has to pay to use) does not open til 7:00am. The note had a threatening message that there was a fine applied if we did not take the garbage with us. I messaged the company on what to do and never heard back from them until we were half way home. They made up excuses and acted pathetic in their response. A second reason that the company is terrible is they give far less supplies than every other company. No extra garbage bags to use anyway. Seems like a little thing but who travels with extra garbage bags for a 4 day trip. Also no soap, very little TP etc. Never had to run to the store for a four day trip. It would be so easy and cheap for them to be like every other company and make people happy with just a basic starter of supplies. First time having a bad experience.
