On a relatively steep hill with terraced stair entry from the street. Very close to freeway, Portland State University, and downtown. Has AC, which really came in handy for us.

We are happy that you were able to have an air conditioned space to escape the heat.
We gathered our family from different parts of the country to celebrate our daughter's graduation from Law School. It was an amazing 5 days of togetherness, feeling like home. It allowed our large group to be close, yet everyone had space to be at their own pace ( family ranging from 22 to 84!).
A wonderful experience with great memories!
Our family of 8 stayed for a long weekend. The house is spacious, comfortable and quiet and we all enjoyed the peaceful night sleep. We walked everywhere and the few times we needed a ride, Uber delivered. Saturday farmers market is only a few blocks away. We cooked meals and at the end of each night, gathered on one of the patios with a view to watch the sun go down over Portland. Thankfully, we also enjoyed the World Cup games on the TV. Great family reunion vacation!

Beautiful place within walking distance of downtown
Fantastic architecture and views. Great place for four lifelong friends to have a reunion. Very pleasant outdoor areas for conversation while enjoying the views.
One observation: there are four nice bedrooms upstairs but only one full bath. No rooms are en suite. One half bath downstairs. Not a problem at all for us but helpful for larger groups to remember this.
Without question we’d stay here again.

Gorgeous home, incredibly well maintained!
I live here in Portland, and rented this beautiful home for a weekend with 7 of my college friends. We were all thrilled with the home, the beds, the bath, the shower, the beautiful deck outside the breakfast room, the warm and cozy living room, and the spacious kitchen and dining room. Oh, and the soft silk rugs! Seriously, we've stayed at a lot of properties around the country in our annual girls weekend, and this house was definitely the best. So comfortable and luxurious and obviously lovingly cared for. The location is also ideal. PSU farmers market only a few blocks away. Just walk down 13th to the Pearl, and then easy access to the Alphabet district. Streetcar and Max are close by. We didn't get to enjoy the beautiful views of the city and mountains because of nearby wildfire smoke, but that would have been the icing on the cake. We hope to come back for another trip, hopefully this is still a VRBO for their next visit to Portland!

Best views in town!
This house is on a hill and has lots of stairs- if that doesn't intimidate you, you will be rewarded with a beautiful, vintage yet modernized home with fabulous views from many levels! Kitchen is updated and spacious and all the main floor entertaining spaces are large and roomy with comfortable seating and beautiful large windows. The woodwork and built-ins are gorgeous. The only negative is the dishwasher is very noisy so don't start until you are going to leave for awhile. Bathrooms have been updated as well and the towels are thick and fluffy and the water pressure in the shower is great. Bedrooms are spacious as well with great closet space and plenty of light. The master bed is due for a switch out- high center so it's not as comfortable as it should be. The location can't be beat- close to everything.

Thanks for your review.
We are glad you enjoyed your stay and that our home could be a place for everyone to gather for your daughters wedding.
It truly looked like everyone had a great time.
I am sorry you did not sleep well.
I like very soft, but understand If you preffered a firmer one. It was only 1.5 years old but comfort to all our guests is important to me.
I have purchased a brand new Seally Heartwarming mattrress to meet more of everyones needs and comfort.
We want to insure everyone gets a fantastic nights sleep and wake rested to the view of the mountains and downtown Portland.
The dishwasher has been checked and taken care of as well.
Thanks again.
We had five people stay at this very spacious house over the Thanksgiving holiday. It has been beautifully maintained, preserving lots of charming details. Bathrooms are remodeled very nicely. . Heating system very effective. The kitchen was very well stocked. We were able to cook several meals here.
The location is excellent. There are amazing views on a clear day, easily walkable to Portland State University and downtown. There is highway noise, but none of us found it bothersome and we all slept well each night.
Great contact with host. We were able to drop off luggage before check in which we really appreciated. We were asked to clean the kitchen, (or be charged an additional cleaning fee) which was a bit unusual. There was not access to a washer or dryer, nor could we find outside garbage cans. These were minor inconveniences that did not detract from our excellent experience. We would not hesitate to return the next time we are visiting Portland.

Thanks for your lovely review, we are so glad that you had a wonderful holiday and that our home was a perfect fit for you.
To address a few comments:
We have the garbage cans in the garage down the stairs and instead of asking our guests to take it down, we handle that for them.
To maintain our high kitchen standard we spend a lot of time cleaning and detailing the kitchen between guests so we do ask those who use the kitchen to tidy up after themselves.
Our washer and dryer are available upon request and we woudl be happy to share them when asked.
We stirve to meet the needs of all guests and appeciate your feedback and hope to see you again soon.
Early 20th Century Charm and Views of a 21st Century City
We enjoyed 6 days in the home and acclimated to the robust steps to get fantastic views facing north-east over Portland. The classic yet open family and dining areas invited stay-in meals for all, with easy access to a modern kitchen. The private rooms were very comfortable. We hope to return!
We selected this property for our group of family and friends who were flying in from several location. The stay was absolutely perfect. The house is beautiful, spacious clean and thoughtfully done to create a beautiful experience.
The host was attentive and helpful. Highly recommend the Jacobberger House to others.
Kerri was so great and accommodating for our stay. We filmed a small interview at the beautiful location and Kerri patiently answered all of my questions and needs. I could not have been happier with the experience.
Thank you
Loved the house and the location. Was perfect for our group of five friends meeting up in Portland. Everyone got their own bedroom which was great. Nice walking distance to stores and restaurants. Only limitation is small number of bathrooms but that’s common in older houses and we made it work just fine. Owner was good to work with - would definitely stay here again!
Comfortable to the max, great people, amazingly and lovingly restored classic Portland home, views of two peaks and town, safe neighborhood - highly recommended.
I recently stayed with a group of 6 and had a wonderful visit. The house and views are beautiful! Communication with Alyssa was easy and very helpful. The hill and stairs were the only challenging part of the stay but add to the charm.
Beautiful home; fine location; wonderful on-site manager
The house is a testament to sensitive updating and the careful maintenance of a gracious and comfortable historic home. The property was spotless, walkable to downtown and a nearby MAX light-rail station, and offered wonderful views from its hillside location. If that weren’t enough, you won’t find a nicer or more helpful manager than Alyssa, who lives on-site in a separate apartment. We were a group of 4, all of whom would happily return to the Jacobberger house.
Highly efficient and smooth process excellent facilities for a diverse family holiday !! Lovely to be able to walk or Uber anywhere and for outside Portland day trips also great location!!
This place is amazing - it’s a historic property but has been updated beautifully. Very clean. The views are spectacular. The location is within walking distance of many shops and restaurants but is also in a neighborhood, so it’s nice and quiet. The beds and bedding were very comfortable. Enough room for the family to spread out and also has nice gathering areas. Alyssa - the caretaker is so friendly and helpful! When we visit Portland again, will be staying here! Highly recommend.
This home was the perfect location for our 4-night getaway of seven lifelong friends. Communication was excellent and the on-site manager, Alyssa, was responsive and helpful at every turn. The house itself is immaculately clean and aesthetically stunning, but also welcoming and comfortable for hanging out and enjoying one another's company. The kitchen is very well-appointed; the bedrooms are luxurious and quiet; and the main floor bath is everything that earlier reviews promised - like a spa. The multiple decks and outdoor areas were also a treat! We cannot recommend this property highly enough and we hope to stay there again!

May Many doors open for you this New Year. Our family loves to travel and has done several postings overseas. My husband and I are both from the NW and love the area very much. After traveling to some amazing places in the world we have found that the classic architecture of the older homes attracts us and we love to restore them to their natural state. My background is in hospitality and I have spent over 25 years in all forms of 5 star service. We are excited to offer you a very unique experience and a place we can share with you that feels like home.
Why they chose this property
This property was chosen by us because of it's awe inspiring views of Mt. Hood. It is a calming presence seen from most windows. We also loved the exquisite architectural design and craftsmanship. It's a rare glimpse of the pasts unparalleled workmanship. The curved wood crown moldings around the doorways, the stained glass windows, the abundance of built ins are an unparalleled old style feature that can not be found in current construction. The warmth and character of the Jacobberger House made us feel right at home. We new immediately that this was the right choice for us.
What makes this property unique
The Jacobberger House offers guests a chance to step back into history and see what a famous architect designed 114 years ago. It has been restored to keep its unique style and character of the past with updated, high end furnishings. A nice cozy fireplace and large living room for all guests to gather around and snuggle in one of our nice comfy throws and enjoy each others company. Take a nice hot bath and soak in the 6 ft clawfoot tub, Or a shower with our spa style shower. Finish by stepping out onto our warmed tile floor and put on a nice robe to lounge in before going to bed. It offers a view of three Mountains and it's downtown walkable location make this a perfect choice for your stay. No car needed, it has a walk score of 84 and a public transportation score of 90 meaning you are minutes away from everything downtown. Just blocks to PSU, OHSU, 23rd Street, Keller Auditorium, Restaurants, Blue Star Doughnuts, Cocoa, Bamboo Sushi and all the city of Portland has to offer.
