About this property
Tropical hideaway in historical eco house
Casa Van Wilpe is one of the first houses built on the remote beach of Nosara by a famous Costa Rica Architect and engineer couple, who also designed the layout of the town. Built with local sourced stone and wood, the house is the live example of the philosophy that respects the nature and environment. The rooms are open to both sides to allow air circulation. The thick green mango trees provide cool shades and privacy. The house is located in the town center, 5 minutes walk to the north Playa Guiones beach entrance, close to many restaurants, minisuper, and yoga classes.
You will be renting the entire upstairs part of the house with separate entrance. There are two bedroom. Each bedroom has two queen beds and has its own bathroom. You have the entire kitchen and living area.
We have recently upgraded the house with floor to ceiling windows, AC and modern bathrooms with hot water for shower. The kitchen has coffee machine and blender. There is outdoor shower for rinsing off sand when you come back from the beach.
High speed internet for working. Each bedroom has a safe.
If you plan to do laundry, there is a laundromat nearby at Gabi's place.

About the host

We are from US and we love surfing.
Why they chose this property
We fell in love with Nosara when attending friend's wedding. The place is always magical for the group of us who enjoy surfing and exploring nature.
The house is a landmark of the beach community. Designed by famous Costa Rican architect Julia Van Wilpe and built by her husband, this house was the first house they built. It utilize the natural ocean breeze for cooling, and all the materials are locally sourced. Large window frames on both side of the room create an indoor-outdoor feeling, and this concept has been replicated by many beach houses in the region. The thick mango trees provide natural green curtains, create a sense of isolation and make you forget you are right in the town center of all the happenings.
Wake up naturally to the songs of the birds and monkeys, take a short walk down to the beach. Grab hearty tico breakfast down the street or get an artisanal coffee and fresh juice. Catch some waves and enjoy the magical sunset view. This house is everything that represent an authentic Costa Rica getaway experience.
