About this property
Historic Charmer Walk-able to Belmont University & 12 South Neighborhood
Selah House is a historic 100+ yr old Craftsman Style home with high ceilings, hardwood floors and fireplaces. There is a large sitting porch, English Garden and back deck with gazebo overlooking a fenced in backyard and garden. The 4 spacious bedrooms (plus sleeper sofa in the music room) comfortably sleep 4-8 guests. The table in the main dining room comfortably seats your entire group. Selah House is located next to Belmont University and five blocks from Vanderbilt Medical Center and University. It is close to The Sound Emporium, a very prestigious recording studio, so several bands have stayed here while in Nashville recording their albums. The property is one block from the 12 South, which has recently been chosen as Nashville's favorite shopping and restaurant district.
You're a 8 min drive to downtown, one block from Belmont campus and a 5 minute drive to Vanderbilt, and within walking distance to all the wonderful restaurants and shops on 12th Avenue South. You will have use of the entire house, 2400 square feet. We live in a separate access basement apartment with sound proofing. Additionally, we have a long-term tenant who lives in a separate 3rd floor apartment above Selah House. You may occasionally see them come or go across the back porch, but they have separate access to their apartment and do not share Selah House space. We are available if you need us but you have the place to yourself.

About the host
Hosted by Ben & Elaine Pearson

Ben & Elaine have lived in this house 31 years, since their children were small. Ben is a filmmaker, photographer and musician. Throughout the years Ben has filmed and photographed numerous musicians in his studio including Amy Grant, Michael W. Smith and Rich Mullins to name a few. Elaine is an NICC nurse at Centennial Medical Center. They love to travel and have gone to many unusual places in the world. Ben worked with Compassion International, World Vision and Food for the Hungry for years so his passport is peppered with numerous barely known third world counties.
Why they chose this property
We chose this home primarily because Ben came here to shoot album covers and we are only blocks from music row. We love it here and expect that it will be in the family for generations. Most of the must see spots are less than a 10 min drive without even getting on the interstate. It is walking distance from Belmont University for any families wishing to check it out or attend graduation. It is perfect for a family reunion, college reunion, groups coming to attend a wedding. Walking to many excellent restaurants from our front door is a bonus since sometimes it's nice to not deal with traffic and parking. We love hosting here, it's so inviting!
What makes this property unique
This 100+ year old house with it's classic layout and high ceilings lets you breathe, relax, pause and reflect. Life goes by too fast. There are fun little corners to explore. Many people have said it reminds them of their grandma's house. built in 1916 there are many unique features that just aren't seen in houses built after the 1940's. In spite of it's age this house is energy efficient and is cool in summer and warm in winter thanks to our Geothermal water furnace. Take time to just be. Selah... Many of our guests love sitting on the front porch reading or talking and listening to the fountain and the birds. In spite of the peaceful quiet location it is walking distance to numerous fun shops and 5 star Restaurants.
