About this property
Wild Atlantic Way - Detached Cottage with Sea Views of Clew Bay - 2 bathrooms
About the property
• A beautiful cottage overlooking Clew Bay with stunning sea and mountain views, a short drive from the lively and bustling town of Westport. The perfect base for exploring the west coast of Ireland, Connemara and the Wild Atlantic Way. Situated on the mountain slopes beside the majestic Croagh Patrick, sit back beside our log burner and watch the changing weather roll in from Clew Bay and the Atlantic Ocean! We have a wonderful terrace at the front of the cottage where you can enjoy breath-taking views, beautiful sunsets, and wildlife spotting! There are many delicious local cafes and restaurants nearby and, of course, plenty of pubs to quench your thirst, enjoy live music, and embrace Irish craic!
• Please feel free to message us should you have any questions.
The space
• This cosy three-bedroom cottage is ideally suited for families and small groups. The cottage is a true place of love for our family and friends. We hope it will quickly become your ‘home from home’ too.
• The cottage consists of a living room (with log burner), a large living/dining space with adjacent kitchen, a master bedroom with en-suite, a double bedroom, a double bedroom (which also includes a bunkbed), a bathroom and a terrace. Two of the bedrooms are front-facing, so are perfect for waking up to a wonderful view in the morning.
• A great feature of the cottage is the wonderful front terrace (with seating and picnic table).
• There is an enclosed lawn at the front of the cottage.
• The front living room includes a smart TV with access to Netflix, perfect for a cosy movie night in front of the log burner. There are also a selection of board games.
• The kitchen includes a dishwasher, oven, kettle, toaster, fridge/freezer, and microwave. All essential kitchenware and cookware, etc. are provided. There is also a washing machine in the utility room.
• The master bedroom includes a super king size bed, a wardrobe, and a chest of drawers. The en-suite has a toilet, a wash basin and a walk-in shower.
• The second bedroom includes a double bed, a wardrobe, and a chest of drawers.
• The third bedroom includes a double bed, a bunkbed, a wardrobe and a chest of drawers.
• The main bathroom has a toilet, a wash basin, a walk-in shower and a bath.
• There is WiFi and central heating throughout the cottage.
• Bedding and towels are provided.
• There is secure off-road parking at the back of the cottage (for up to four cars).
• Minimum stay is 7 nights in-season (between the end of June and beginning of September) and 4 nights in the off-season.
Local area
• The Westport area has a splendid array of pubs, restaurants, and cafes. Our favourite pub, The Tavern, is a mere 10-minute walk away! Campbells at the Reek (the pub at the bottom of Croagh Patrick) is a 15-minute walk away. The pubs of Westport are a wonderful place for Guinness, live music and Irish craic!
• The local area is an exciting place to enjoy adventures and activities, including hiking (our cottage is a great base for climbing Croagh Patrick!), cycling, sailing, kayaking and horse riding. For those who are brave enough, a dip in the Atlantic Ocean also makes for a refreshing start to any day!
• Fancy a road trip? Get ready for epic adventures through the Connemara National Park, exploring ‘hidden gem’ beaches, and holding onto your seats as you enjoy the views of the impressive sea cliffs on Achill Island.
• A brilliant place to keep active. Westport is home to a beautiful golf course and there are many wonderful coastal routes for runners to enjoy (guaranteed to make you the envy of your Strava followers!) If you are a Park Run enthusiast, then join the Westport locals for a Saturday morning dash.
• If you enjoy cycling then you must check out the Great Western Greenway, a 42km cycle from Westport to Achill Island. There are several cycle hire shops in Westport who can assist!
• A great area for wildlife spotting! Keep your eyes peeled for seals, birds, wild rabbit and, if you are lucky, perhaps you will see a dolphin! A local farmer also uses the land surrounding the cottage for his sheep…it’s always sweet to visit during lambing season!
• Also it's a great area for Hollywood location spotting! Visit the filming locations of ‘The Banshees of Inisherin’ on Achill Island and the filming locations of ‘The Quiet Man’ in the nearby town of Cong. Even the late John Lennon enjoyed visiting the Clew Bay area!
• Looking for a relaxing break? We can truly recommend that a wood fired sauna experience at the local beach of Old Head will be a great start to your day! The cottage is also a wonderful place to enjoy a relaxing movie night in front of the cosy log burner, breath in the fresh sea air from the terrace and star gaze by night.
• For the beer enthusiasts, we recommend a tour of the Mescan Brewery.
• For those with children, Westport also has a cinema, a leisure centre, a playground and a skatepark. You will also find places to play football, rugby and Gaelic football.
Other things to note
• The cottage can accommodate up to eight people (three double beds and one adult sized bunkbed). A travel cot is also available.
• The cottage is strictly no smoking.
• We regret that we are unable to accept hen or stag parties.
• The cottage is located 8km outside of Westport. It is a short drive into Westport (and there are also plenty of available taxi services).
• Before booking the cottage please be aware that the check-in time is from 4pm onwards and check-out is by no later than 10.30am. This is to allow sufficient time to clean/prepare the cottage between guests (particularly during the busy spring/summer period).
• There are carbon monoxide alarms and smoke alarms fitted throughout.
• Please note that the cottage is supplied with fresh water direct from the mountains. The water is filtered prior to it flowing through our taps. The water can appear a bit tinted in colour, however it is safe to use. We would recommend buying bottled drinking water in a local supermarket

About the host
Hosted by MRS ANNETTE SCOLES

Our holiday home is very special to us as the land it stands upon has been in our family for over 60 years. I have family living in the area and have been visiting Murrisk for over 50 years. We never tire of the outstanding views from the house and watching the colours change, often from minute to minute. It is quite breathtaking. At the same time, we benefit from being very close to all the amenities of Westport and being within a 15 minute walk of two excellent dining pubs.
Why they chose this property
The home and land has been in the family for three generations since 1956.
What makes this property unique
We thoroughly enjoy the peace and tranquility afforded by the outstanding views. The colours of the bay have to be observed whatever the weather. It is equally as wonderful at night with the lights twinkling across the bay.
