Another lovely stay in this cottage. You’ll need to take all the essentials and be prepared to buy logs, kindling etc in the colder months but the location is fabulous and the wrap around garden perfect for dogs and a sense of being away from it all. Lovely walks in the area, only a short drive from amenities. This is our 4th stay here and we hope to return.
Another lovely stay in cottage, host yet again amazing, dogs loved coming back to run around safe and sound, looking forward to going back next year. Only fault is theres not enough days in the week !!
I really enjoyed my stay at this property. Especially owner of this property is very helpful and kind. She helped us in every thing like about tourist places, nearby beaches. I’ll definitely like to stay again in this property.
We loved our stay at Penycoed Cottage, which, we were told, is about 400 years old! It is located on a hill, and you get to see some fantastic views as you drive down from the property. Property is pretty well maintained. Mary is wonderful and it was great meeting her. She gave us some great ideas on what places to visit and so on.
Very peaceful and relaxing ,has everything you need ,was clean and tidy ,lovery old building that speaks to you, very nice owner who is super helpful and kind ,dogs enjoyed the very safe garden,,it is a country property and my favorite part was the darkness so i could see all the stars in the sky ,perfect
The cottage is in a perfect quiet location, it’s very private and has everything you could need. The grounds are gated off from the single track road in front -the road is a dead end further up the hill, there is no passing traffic to speak of. The valley in front of the cottage is stunning. We had a great time and were sad to leave
As the title says. An enchanting cottage in beautiful surroundings. Very peaceful and not far from local amenities and waterfall walks. Lovely gardens we all enjoyed in the sunny mornings. Well equipped cottage, everything there that we needed.
This was our third visit to the cottage - we love the location, the privacy, the country cottage feel of the property and the lateral around garden which is perfect for dogs. Great walks in the area and a short journey to shops.
We had a great stay at Mary's house. The location and views were fantastic. The cottage was full of character and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Our boys were ably to explore the farm on their bikes, whilst we enjoyed the house and garden. The location was ideal for Dyfi Mountain Bike park. Mary was very helpful with recommendations.
We had a great time staying at this little gem.
Host Mary is a wonderful person.
If you are looking for a quite, rural setting this cottage is recommended.
It was our second time staying here. A gorgeous cottage in a peaceful location. Great views from upstairs windows.Large secure wrap around garden (perfect for our 3 year old) Jets overhead if you’re lucky (again perfect for our 3 year old who loved this)Walk down the hill from the house to the river (its a fairly steep hill but great views on the way down and also great for jet spotting. Lots of lovely places for paddling in the river, steam railways nearby (another favourite), lovely beach at Aberdovey only 30 mins away. We adore this place and have enjoyed our stay very much both times.
I’ve given 4/5 for accuracy of listing. The photographs do not do justice to this lovely cottage. Lovely setting. Very private. Comfy & quaint dwelling. The owner Mary is also very accommodating & does not intrude. We will be staying again!
Check-in was very easy. Communication was great cleaning was ok but There was a lot of cobwebb spiders all in the windows behind the blind. All the cabinets and things the beds were clean. But bed was not very comfy mattress. Needs replacing. Place is in amazing place just needs updating and cleaning better people was lovely
The cottage itself is beautiful. It has a really nice feel to it.
The location is impeccable, secluded, with great views.
The night sky (although there was only an hour of clear skies) was amazing.
I would highly recommend this place.
We did not spend much time in the property as we travelled around Wales doing the usual touristy things. The property oozes rustic charm, and was a great place to crash after a hard day on the tourist trail. Mary and Robert were very considerate hosts. It was our anniversary, and we came home one evening to find Mary had left a bouquet of flowers and a card on the doorstep - thank you Mary for your thoughtful gesture.
Travel back in time and enjoy the wonderful views.

I take pride that, Penycoed, on the doorstep of Southern Snowdonia (W244) and my Knightsbridge flat in Eresby House (E2379) are first and foremost family homes rather than purely holiday lets.
Why they chose this property
Penycoed has been part of the family farm for generations. It is situated on a hill in the picturesque Dyfi valley on the gentle southern slopes of Snowdonia. The coast and the old estuary port of Aberdovey, now a well known tourist destination, with its sandy beaches, sailing and golfing opportunities are a short drive away.
What makes this property unique
Being a city dweller, the cottage with its large enclosed garden continues to provide the perfect retreat and antidote to a stressful life throughout the year. Carefully renovated, it retains its period features and is furnished accordingly.
In winter, the large inglenook with its open log fire provides the perfect opportunity to relax, whilst in summer the substantial lawns, planting and high hedge provide private spaces to relax when not enjoying the wider amenities of the area.
Whilst being secluded, it has amenities such as restaurants, pubs and even a village shop and post office nearby. The acclaimed Centre for Alternative Technology is a few miles away.
