Second year here. Love this house. Perfect location. Prompt responses from host. Quiet home tucked in the hills. Lots yo do 30-45 mins away of you need shopping. Will be back!!!
We had a great time fishing, swimming and making s’more at the fire pit. This is our second trip to Smokehole River House and we love it.
My grandkids are already making plans for next year.
The house is super cute and very clean. We really enjoyed the views of the river and trees from the back deck. The gas fireplace inside the living room made it very cozy.
Wonderful property. Very quiet. Crystal was grewt and responded right away to my questions. The whole family (and dog) had an amazing time!! Would stay again
The house was spotless absolutely adorable so comfortable loved the pool and the deck. We had a wonderful relaxing time. This process was so easy. We plan to come back again and again. I cannot say enough good things about the host. So nice and available. In my 10 year old daughters words.... "it is a 10 out of 10"
This is my second time staying here. If you want peace and quiet this is it. If you're the type that doesn't need to be busy all the time, this is the place to rest. The owner is kind and great to work with.

Peace and quiet
Started out a little rough. Was never given address and website gave me the wrong road. Spent 3 hours looking for the house. Once there property was nice enough. Pool was very cold. My mother missed out on fire and fishing because she couldn't make it down the hills. Yard was beautiful. Loved the front porch.
We had a wonderful time at the Smoke hole house The weather was perfect for swimming and fishing. My grandkids really enjoyed the pool and had a fantastic time. They’ve already asked me when we were going back.
My daughter, son-in-law and twin grandsons had a wonderful time fishing. The fish were abundant and they caught several. ( they catch and release.)
The house itself is very clean and the property is well-maintained.
Our family will definitely be going back.
Beautiful property in a peaceful location. My children really enjoyed the pool and the river for fishing. The kitchen is well stocked and the house is immaculately clean. The host is lovely and accommodating. The surrounding area provided Civil War history and beautiful hiking adventures. West Virginia is gorgeous.
We would totally recommend this as a nice break from the hussle and bustle of life. The pool was great and now our son wants one at our house..haha! The river was very nice. The beds were very comfortable even for all the metal I have in my back. The only thing I would be sure to bring next time is a cart to help get things down to river for chairs/fishing gear/tubes. Normally this wouldn't be a issue but since my 2 senior parents were with us it would've been nice to have. So just throw your foldable beach cart in car with you and you'll be all set 👌 Book this house...you won't be disappointed!
Amazing, clean, secluded spot to "get away from it all."
We (myself, husband, two boys- 6 & 8) had a great time at this property. The house was clean, incredibly well stocked(bath towels, cooking equipment, blankets), and the outdoor area is huge! The kids loved exploring the river, swimming in the pool, and running around the gigantic yard. We loved the time to reconnect without the distractions of the world. Crystal was an awesome host, incredibly easy to work with and always quick to help. Would give this property a 11 out of 10 if I could.
Such a beautiful area! The home was clean and well equipped!
This was just what we were looking for: private, cozy, secluded, and beautiful! Our family wanted away from the hustle and bustle so this place didn’t disappoint. The weather wasn’t the hottest for swimming, but we still made the best of it because the pool was so clean and inviting! We caught fish in the river outback, and built a fire to roast marshmallows. Plenty of room for our kids to safely roam and play. The views of the mountains are gorgeous in that area!! We visit Seneca Rocks (awesome hike) and Black Water Falls. Also, the caverns were amazing - just a bummer that the Seneca Caverns was closed. Everything is quite the drive, but you had stunning views at every turn!! We may be back again to just get away.
It was the cleanest home we have ever stayed in by the way!! It has all we needed as well, just make sure you grab all the food you want (stores aren’t close by!)
The host kept calling us and kept requesting more money for the house. We ended up staying only two nights and paying twice as much as it was originally advertised. Also the house was much further from the ski resort where we were skiing.

Why they chose this property
This property joins with my grandmothers property which I have now inherited. It was where I spent every Sunday as I was growing up. It is a place of solitude and comfort to me. Listening to the river as it flows by is so peaceful.
What makes this property unique
The 500 feet of direct access to the river is this properties most unique feature. The private pool is also a unique feature.
