About this property
Seven Springs Cabin - Fox Tail Chalet - Authentic, Pet Friendly Log Cabin Chalet
Our Fox Tail Chalet cabin near Seven Springs and Hidden Valley Resorts sleeps up to 7 persons and has 2 full bathrooms. This rustic log cabin chalet has one master bedroom with queen-sized bed, two lofts and a sleeper sofa in the living area. One loft has 3 twin beds and the second loft has one full-sized bed. The second loft can also accommodate a full or queen sized air mattress if necessary. Fox Tail Chalet has a full kitchen stocked with pots, pans, plates, silverware and cookware. Just bring your groceries or have us pick some up for you prior to your stay!
This Chalet is located just 6 miles from both Seven Springs Mountain Resort and Hidden Valley Ski Areas. Why stay in a stuffy condo when you could experience a real-life mountain log cabin stay while visiting any of the area's attractions. Enjoy clean, crisp mountain air, spacious cabins secluded away from the hustle and bustle of the mountain. The Fox Tail Chalet is perfect for a couple's getaway or family ski vacation.
Fireplaces! We have a real wood-burning fireplace fully stocked with firewood for your stay. Jack Claycomb was a master mason and hand built our massive fireplace to be the center focal point of the Fox Tail mountain chalet.
Authentic Mountain Chalet - Fox Tail is an authentic mountain cabin, not a condo dressed up to look like a cabin. The Fox Tail chalet was built entirely out of locally-sourced timber that feature massive log beams and rough-cut interior. You will not find one ounce of drywall in this all-wood log home. The logs still have the bark on them!
Pet Friendly - We are pet lovers! We welcome most breeds of dogs, a rarity here in the Laurel Highlands. We do have a few breed restrictions however since there are multiple cabins situated on our property.
Wildlife and Bird Watching - Fox Tail Chalet has a large bird feeder on the back wooden deck that attracts all sorts of birds from Blue-Jays, Cardinals, Woodpeckers and a variety of Finches. Deer plots are set up near the cabin that attract White-Tail Deer as well as squirrels and an occasional grey fox or two.

About the host
Hosted by Julie Claycomb

Owners Jack and Julie inherited the property known as Claycomb Chalets from their late father whom built the Chalet cabins in the early 1980's. Jack Sr., their father was an avid skier and outdoors-man who loved the Laurel Highlands and decided to retire here and build his mountain chalets for everyone to enjoy while visiting the Laurel Highlands.
Today Jack and Julie maintain residence at the property and Julie manages the day-to-day operations of the mountain retreat. They feel being on-site offers their guests a sense of trust knowing someone is there to check them in and show them around the property and area. They are quick to respond for anything from additional linens to helping getting the fire started if necessary.

Why they chose this property
In 2014 Jack and Julie had the idea of continuing their father’s legacy in the Laurel Highlands by opening up Claycomb Chalets to the public by offering short-term vacation rentals in their father’s one-of-a-kind Chalets. They both quickly found out why their father loved the mountain and the people that came to visit year-round. Following in their father's traditions, they enjoy getting to know their guests and host annual open houses, pig roasts and holiday parties for all to enjoy.
What makes this property unique
Hands down it has to be the stone fireplaces. Who doesn't enjoy sitting by the fireplace sipping a good glass of wine while watching wildlife frolic among the woods surrounding the cabin. Snow covered trees in the winter and dark green forest and plant life in spring and summer months. The fall produces some of the most amazing changing colors that visitors from hundreds of miles come to experience. Finally, the people. We have amazing guests that come back year-after-year to enjoy our cabin.
