Fantastic cottage with spectacular ocean frontage!! This cottage was perfect for our family's PEI vacation. Highly recommend this place and would definitely stay again!
Not as big as perhaps the picture showed but still lots of room for our party. Great communications with Dean and when N.E. needed some extra time before we checked in he bought us a Beatiful dinner in Charlitotown
Loved this cottage and its location to the water. There was more room than we needed. We travelled all over the island during the week, enjoying scenery, lighthouses and seafood. The cottage was the perfect place to relax at the end of the day and enjoy spectacular sunsets.
Very nearly perfect. Some appliances were not functioning well ex: dishwasher, BBQ, some lamps, blinds and one kid's mattress was too soft. Also a lack of wine glasses. The flower beds needed weeding. Otherwise an excellent chalet and location. Dug clams and they were delicious.
5 sisters get together every year to have a fun time. Cottage was exactly as described in the listing. It had all of the necessary amenities and the information booklet with all instructions for our stay was great. We had excellent weather for late September and explored lots of places in the island.
Thank you Dean for all of your help and communication.
Great cottage by the water with everything you will need.
We were extremely happy with the cottage. The owners have thought of everything; beach towels, marshmallow forks, fully equipped kitchen, games, movies, fire wood and the list goes on. The water views are fabulous. We were 10 adults and we had plenty of room.
The only thing to consider is the location. If you plan on doing lots of sightseeing and activities, it is a fair drive every time.
This property is located in a quiet area with beach front and easy access to several hamlets and sites. The home itself can accommodate all ages. It has a loft equipped with an electronic game table as well as a treadmill and board games. The patio offers a lot of useable outdoor space to visit and view the ocean and look on out at an oyster farm. The host and keepers were easy to connect with and super friendly. I’ll be back!
Lovely cottage, spectacular water views, incredible sunsets, spacious outdoor dining & living area, massive upstair master suite & ensuite, full amenities kitchen, then some!!
Scenic & Secluded!
Great Beach Walks...(water shoes required to get out past the small rocks, then sand bars)
Would stay again.
Only issue was satellite tv wasn't working.
However; Excellent wifi and smart tv.

pEI Family Adventure
Overall this cottage was a beautiful location and private. The few things I would say it needs to update living room furniture, and bell tv box didn’t work not that your there to watch TV but it would’ve been nice on the rainy nights. Space worked well for our family of six. There are reviews from 2019 taking about the TV and the furniture
While we really liked the location we experienced a number of issues, the majority of which we chose to overlook/deal with on our own due to the havoc created by Dorian. The dishwasher was literally full of dirty dishes, some of which didn't come clean even after running the 'heavy' cycle. The towels set out in the bathroom were torn, but clean. Wife found some laundry in the dryer. Floors appeared to have had a cursory, at best, sweeping. We never did get the propane fireplace to work. But as stated, we were struck by the damage we saw as we arrived on the island, and the reports in the local papers indicated that trades people and service folk were flat out dealing with the storm's aftermath, so we tried to do our part and not be whining tourists about stuff we could take care of ourselves. More bothersome was the lack of lighting suitable for reading and/or needlework in the evening, and the broken down overstuffed furniture. The recliner was only semi-functional, and the sofa had been 'repaired' with large amounts of tape to disguise the fact that the seatback on the end closest to the sliding door was broken. The lighting and the living room furniture were disappointments.
Having covered some of the issues we experienced, we loved the location and the privacy. We were able to get our dog out for a 2-3 mile walk every morning, the weather was very nice the majority of our time there, we spent many hours on the deck enjoying the sun and the activity on the water. Conversations with a few of the neighbors were delightful, and the MBR with full bath was wonderful. We really enjoyed the two weeks, and returned to Vermont well rested and happy.
A few other notes, I'm guessing as it was well past normal tourist season, the waste and recycling pickups had not recently occurred on our arrival, nor did any take place during our stay. There were a half dozen canine 'deposits' randomly around the lawn, not from our 30 lb dog, but from a much larger animal. Would have turned off the lamps along the driveway if I'd have found a switch, as we're not afraid of the dark.
Bottom line: we really enjoyed the stay, don't hold the cleaning issues against anyone, as we assume folks had much more pressing issues to deal with. Seriously recommend that the overstuffed furniture in the living room area be replaced, and some brighter lighting to accompany comfortable seating would be appreciated. Would not hesitate to recommend, may consider for next year's trip.

Not worth the money
We were expecting what we read/saw in the ad. Unfortunately that wasn’t the case at all. We had absolutely no satellite and when we contacted them- they said the provider would be working on it (it didn’t work the entire stay)... the water- BRING WATERSHOES! My husband cut his foot twice trying to go in the water. My kids didn’t want to go in because it hurt their feet. I’m not talking like a small amount of rocks... I mean quite a bit!
All in all, it was not worth what we paid.

Dear Nicole.Thank you for leaving Casa Playa in such good condition at the end of your stay. The cleaner let me know that you and your family took great care of the cottage.I’m hoping future travellers will read my response below to your review.
Satellite TV - When I spoke with you on the phone you mentioned the tv and internet situation were a source of frustration for you in particular as you are the "techie" of the family and had tried everything you could think of to get things working. The guests previous to you confirmed that the satellite tv worked fine during their stay. Following your stay, the owner confirmed the only thing wrong with the satellite tv was that the cables had been switched around which can only be attributed to your efforts.
Internet - I appreciate your frustration with the Internet service provider "looking into the situation" and then the situation not being resolved during your stay. You contacted us every day about the internet when you arrived and then, at the request of the service provider, we asked you to send a picture of the back of the modem. The internet provider’s request for the picture was the fastest path to resolution, but only with your cooperation which was absent. As you confirmed to me on the phone, the internet service was connected but was painfully slow and would drop in and out.
The Beach - You decided against bringing water shoes and were disappointed when you arrived in late August that there were none left in stores. There are multiple pictures of the shoreline from ground level, from the backyard and even photos from the air in our listing so to say that the listing does not represent the reality of the property is both disingenuous and inaccurate.Families have been enjoying this property and it's private beach (which is a highlight) for years now and not one of our prior guests has ever complained about the beach or that there’s nothing going on to keep families occupied. It is not uncommon for everyone from babies, kids, parents and grandparents are all playing in the water within an hour of their arrival! It is out in nature and always changing in some way, but the pictures, the description and the reviews, other than yours, tell the true story of this awesome and extraordinary vacation rental here on the south shore of the Island.
Thank you for taking great care of the cottage, but please be more considerate when leaving reviews that others will rely on for their travel decisions.

Perfect peaceful family getaway!
We stayed at Casa Playa the last week in August and it was the perfect end to our summer! PEI Summer Rental Cottages was so easy to deal with during our booking. The house & property itself was everything we could have hoped for & more! Breathtaking sunsets, large private beach & property. The house is equipped with everything we could have needed and more (bedding, towels, internet, satellite TV, treadmill, BBQ) . We enjoyed BBQs on the deck, fires daily/nightly making smores with the kids in the awesome fire pit, the kids played in the large sandbox (lots of sand/beach toys) and ocean (make sure to have your water shoes as this is the East Coast, lots of seashells!). They had a blast collecting shells, crabs, beach glass right outside our door. It's off the beaten path but still so close to town should you need to grab groceries, wine, beer or go antiquing! Easy to get to, beautiful views, quiet, house is fully stocked. Can't say enough about this beautiful property. Have been recommending to all our family and friends. We cannot wait to return for many years to come! Thank you again to Dean at PEI Summer Cottage Rentals and the owners, we will be back.

Great for families. Peaceful, serene, beautiful sunsets and space for everyone
Our family of 4 has taken two vacations to Casa Playa in Tyne Valley over the last 2 years, we absolutely love it there. The 4 bedroom, 2 bath house sits on a large property overlooking the Egmont Bay. Because the property faces South-West you get these absolutely stunning sunsets; the water reaches right to the horizon meaning the sun touches the water in the late summer. The house itself is fully stocked with everything you would need. Towels, extra sheets and blankets. Our kids love the big shower and Jacuzzi tub upstairs. The property itself is the last house at the end of a private road. There is an automatic gate that opens up when you punch in the code, and then you drive along a long winding driveway through a grove of sugar maples to get to the house. The driveway is lined with old timey looking lamps that come on automatically and light up the forest at night, which is just beautiful. On a couple of nights we turned off the lights (switch at the side of the house by the hose) and we were able to see the milky way, just gorgeous! The beach at the property is accessible with a set of wooden stairs, and although a bit rocky right in front of the property all you have to do is walk out a few metres to get to the red sandy bay. The bay itself is quite shallow, especially at low tide. We've been able to walk out to our knees for what seemed like a km at low tide. There is all kinds of interesting wildlife on and around the property too. We harvested muscles from the rocky part of the beach and made fresh seafood pasta with a local chardonnay wine sauce one night, so fresh and delicious! The kids also really like the ginormous sandpit on the property for building sandcastles, and the shed has some scooters and bikes that are great for going up and down the long drive way. The kitchen and living room of the property is fully equipped with everything you need, full size fridge, electric range/oven. We love the open concept of it too, there's a flatscreen TV, a gas fireplace and large windows overlooking the bay. BBQ was new and clean, we had no problems grilling up our favourite foods. Closest city to stock up on amenities is Summerside, about 30 minutes away, but it's right off the bridge if you come that way so we always visit the grocery stores and beer/liquor store on our way in. Be sure to stop by the farmer stands on the way to the property too, nothing like fresh PEI blueberries and corn at the end of August.

The location is remote and quiet and the sunsets are spectacular!
Our group of eight adults truly enjoyed staying at Casa Playa. The house has all the required amenities and more. We were slightly disappointed in the fact that there was no basketball hoop and no lounge chairs for the deck as advertised, but these we minor inconveniences. Dean was quick to reply to all of our questions. The direct access to the beach was really appreciated - I would recommend beach shoes to walk along the shore. Sitting on the deck, we saw foxes, blue herons and other wildlife. There were also plenty of oysters and razor shells to collect. The property is remote, but if you are looking for a peaceful and quiet place to relax, this is it! I must mention that the sunsets are absolutely spectacular.

Casa Playa on Prince Edward Island
Casa Playa is a cozy little home located off the beaten path on the Northumberland Strait of Prince Edward Island. Four bedrooms, two with bunkbeds (perfect for kids), one double, and one master with attached bath. Beautiful views of the water that's only steps away-- the sunsets are incredible! It's very secluded, which makes for great privacy and a peaceful vacation spot. The only downside is that you're a little farther away from attractions: the closest town is approximately 30 minutes away. We brought our 11-week-old bullmastiff puppy and the owners were great about accommodating us. A national park pass is provided for renter use, as are towels, beach towels, and bed linens (this is rare for a rental, but hugely convenient). We will definitely be returning to this place!
