Simply loved our stay at Gamrie Lodge, it was a world away from our city lifestyle and felt like we were Lords of the Manor. The walled garden, rural lanes and wood burner set the scene for a wonderful week in a most delightfully modern cottage.
We spent a full week at Gamrie Lodge, touring around the country. Very beautiful spots and plenty of harbours to visit. NTS castles as well. Gamrie Lodge is perfectly equipped, very warm and cosy. Definitely recommanded!
Property is in a rural location, between the grain fields and has a walled garden.
Nearby a beautiful coastline with a lot of different birds.
Nice small villages, in Banff a very good boutcher.
Loved the wood burning stove. The garden was great for the dog. Good location. Like visiting various beeches and cliff walks, especially Troupe Head to see the gannet colony. It was avery comfortable and relaxing holiday.
Me and my partner regularly stay in little holiday homes when we are both home - to spend time together as we both work away at sea. This cottage was the BEST, most homely and cosy cottage we have ever stayed in. The cottage itself is beautiful and well designed. The communication was fantastic, and the hosts were always so lovely. The cottage had everything we would need and more with an amazing wood burning stove that we used every night. We will definitely be back to stay in the future!
Husband and I needed R&R with peace and quiet and certainly found it here. The coach house is so peaceful and so lovely that we wished we'd booked a longer stay. Such lovely accommodation with the biggest, comfiest bed I have ever slept in. Mine hosts are lovely guys, very friendly and always helpful, happy to chat about the location, the gardens and local places to eat and drink. The honey straight from their hives is available to guests - it's delicious. Recommended!
The accommodation at Gamrie Lodge was first rate. The property was in a beautiful location and was clean, comfortable and very well equipped. The hosts were very friendly and welcoming and made sure we had all the information we needed for our stay. The weather was amazing ( we visited in a heatwave) and the surrounding countryside was stunning. Gardenstown is a pretty port and the walk along the coastal path to Crovie is well worth doing . Further afield, Portsoy is lovely. Would highly recommend this property and hope to return in the future.
If you want a cosy, comfortable, immaculately clean, beautiful cottage with your own private courtyard then this is the place for you. It has everything you want and need. The hosts were friendly and helpful and made both us and our 2 dogs very welcome. There is plenty to do and see in the area. Do NOT give this a miss, you wont regret it. 1000/10!
An absolutely stunning property and location! The coach house was also much bigger than the pictures suggest, which was a pleasant surprise. The place was spotless, and had everything to cater for our needs, I couldn't fault it.
The area is just beautiful with so many lovely beaches just on the doorstep. We also managed to travel to the Cairngorms, Roseisle beach (well worth a visit), Strathisla distillery and several of the surrounding towns and villages. There is lots to see and do.
Last but not least the hosts were great, very helpful and very friendly, all in all a fab holiday. We will no doubt be back in the future.
The cottage is amazing. It is cosy, beautifully decorated with a refined taste and larger than we thought it would be.
A large kitchen with everything you need for making a tasty meal, A large bedroom with a very comfortable bed We slept like baby's. The cottage was so comfortable and nice to be there, that we always were looking forward after a day of sightseeing and hiking to come home!! Our dog loved the place too. We liked the pictures of the cottage but it still exceeded our expectations. And everything was very clean!!. Our hosts were very friendly Gardenstown is a charming small fishing town. And you can make interesting walks along the coast. So we had a perfect week!!!!

We don't generally respond to reviews but on this occasion we feel the need to.
A rather disappointing review from a particularly strange elderly couple who on arrival complimented the accommodation and who’s very first words spoken were “we have extremely high expectations…”. They then proceeded to spend the next 4 weeks mostly in the cottage or walking the dog around the grounds whist wearing slippers and pyjamas, regardless of the time of day.
The damage the dog caused to the new leather Chesterfield sofa is another matter entirely… Never again.
Perfect base to explore the North Aberdeenshire coast
I stayed at the Coach House in April/May for a week, and really loved my stay there. It is a cozy little cottage - compact, but with everything you need during the holiday.
It's the perfect base to explore the Aberdeenshire coast - I went from Fraserburgh in the east, to Fochabers (Gordon Castle Garden) in the west - and all the little harbour villages inbetween. Apart from the well known Pennan and Crovie villages, I really liked Portsoy.
I was welcomed by Diane, the housekeeper, who showed me around the cottage, which was absolutely clean and well prepared - and has everything you need for your holiday. Not just a "practical" holiday cottage, but a real home with lots of character, interesting pieces decoration and a "welcome dram" of whisky.
There were some technical issues - power failure after a day of rain and the heating played up one day - but Diane and Kevin (one of the owners) were there within minutes to solve it.
The cottage is set in a quiet, rural area, but you can wander through the big garden of the main house, the coast is only minutes away, and Banff (the next bigger town) about 15min.
Thank you for providing such a beautiful place to discover Aberdeenshire!

This is a lovely spacious and stylish property. It is well equipped and really comfortable. The hosts were friendly and everything was well explained. It's set close to a lovely coastline with lots of quirky villages to visit (though you can need nerves of steel for the drive down, or good lungs for the walk up!) The TV reception was poor so it's not a bad idea to bring a laptop for streaming.
This property is truly a little gem tucked away in a rural area with a short distance from all local attractions. This property is well equipped with everything you need for your stay. The cleanliness of the property is presented to a high standard. With your own private courtyard to take in the beautiful views and enjoy the peace and quiet. It was perfect for us as it was dog friendly and like home from home
So pleased we booked this property. A fabulous cottage in extremely peace-full surroundings. Immaculately kept with super helpful owners. A true home from home. Would be more than happy to recommend The Stables to anyone. Thanks once again for a wonderful stay.

Why they chose this property
Always wanted to live in a period property in the country but close to the sea. Gamrie Lodge ticked all the boxes although many of the renovations have been lengthy and costly.
