We loved our time here!!! If you want to experience Belize stay here!!!

We had an amazing time with Shanita and her family. They were extremely welcoming and the house was perfect for our large family. We had nine of us sleeping comfortably. The house was set on a hill on the edge of the jungle. Our kids played with their animals, picked coconuts and went on a hike through the jungle. I can't recommend this place enough. If you want to stay off the "beaten path" and enjoy your time in Belize, stay with Shanita and her sweet family!!!

Comfortable, spacious home with familiar amenities

Shanita is a great host! She lives nearby on the premises and was a very helpful resource when we were looking for guides to take us on various excursions in the area. We are a family of 6 and there was a lot of space for us to spread out, plus a huge deck. The house is really out in the countryside and farther to get there than you think by the directions given, and the last part of the road is gravel and full of potholes, but we did fine in our rented minivan! It is centrally located if you want to visit the Mayan ruins and the Mayan caves (not to be missed!!). But be aware that the house is not air conditioned except for a stand-alone unit in the master bedroom. We were here in the summer when it was very warm and sticky, so it would have been nice to have it throughout the house.

Beautiful property

My family of 6 stayed in this property for a week and loved the location. We rented a car and was able to go to Mayan ruins, cave tubing, river swimming, fall exploring, etc. Basically, we explored from Belmopan to San Ignacio and beyond. Do note that this property is located off of a dirt road (common for Belize). Also, Belize does not have addresses, so it is a bit difficult to find. But, our family took it in stride and looked at is as an adventure. The best part is that the owner mentioned Mennonite Beach, a local watering hole. We went there, and heard some kids in the distance making a lot of noise. We found out that just past the Beach is a tree swing, a swing that could throw you up about 15 feet in the air. My kids asked to join the locals, and we had a blast. We ended up becoming friends with them and now see each other on facebook. Belize really is full of friendly people. Do note that Spanish Lookout, about a 15 minute drive away from Billy White (where the house is located) is very different from the rest of Belize. The grocery store there is the largest we saw in all of Belize. It is quite modern with some of the best air conditioning found at Western Dairy (great ice cream - food is only ok). The owners seem to be new at vrbo, and as a result was not as polished compared to other homes. They were super friendly and we enjoyed their company. I believe that with some slight modifications on their part, this home will soon be a 5 star. It was plenty big enough for all six of us. Because we were so busy doing so many activities that our family did not explore the property as much as we hoped. One can only do so much in a week.

Nice big home in the jungle

Shanita and her son Brent are great people! When you look at this property, you realize that you are in a great home compared to the rest of the area. The property has some great pluses: - There is a lot of peace and quiet here. Love waking up to the breeze and watching the cows. - Large home with plenty of room for guests - Love the wrap around porch and chairs - Beautiful wood floors inside - 5 gallons of drinking water are provided -The home has all cooking items needed along with some spices - The shower had wonderful hot water although a little low on pressure compared to the US. A few needs: - It would really benefit from some screens in the sliding glass doors. There are one set of sliders with a screen and others were without. There are some really adorable cats, but they have fleas and I didn't want to have them get inside (trying to be considerate to the owners). So we had to close the sliding glass doors when weren't paying attention which cut down on the breeze into the home significantly. You will however get your cat and dog fix while you're here. They are adorable! - The AC in the bedroom might need some freon. It was really hot when we were there (I think unseasonably so.) as it got up to 105. For the most part, the bedroom was 84-86 degrees when we went to bed, one night it was up to 91 degrees. So the AC worked some, maybe a 15 degree cooling. There was a fan in the room that helped. I've had portable AC before that worked much better, so this one might just need a tune up. I almost think it would have been cooler to sleep outside a few of the nights. So maybe just turn the AC off and open the bedroom windows if it's really hot. I'm not sure how someone could sleep upstairs comfortably when it is warm outside. - FYI - Washer and dryer aren't on premises. It's $5 a load which seems to be the going rate in the country. We ended up just skipping it as we were busy with everything anyways. - Dishwasher is missing the bottom rack so I just hand washed our dishes. There's a great pizza/wing place in Belmopan: Pasquale's Pizza & Ultimate Wingz and a great ice cream shop named the Ice Cream Corner. Check out both!

Beautiful Belize on the Mainland

Shanita and her family were very friendly and inviting. Their place is beautifully situated on about 90 acres of land with wonderful views of a river, fields, trees, etc. We enjoyed relaxing on the wrap around porch taking in the scenery. Renting a car at the airport allowed us to explore the surrounding area. Very centralized location to easily explore some of Belize's mainland attractions/excursions. I highly recommend this property and the hosts! Would defiantly come back.

Peaceful and quiet place to stay

We stayed here in February and really enjoyed the home. It's close to San Ignacio (ten mile drive) but far away from the noise and traffic. It's a very short drive to the grocery store in Spanish Lookout. One of the bedrooms has air conditioning, but we didn't really need it. The countryside around the home is very pretty. The owner and her family were very helpful. Highly recommend this property for a stay in the Cayo area.

Friendly people (and animals), beautiful house

Our family of five (parents with 21, 17 and 14 year olds) enjoyed our stay at this property. We loved feeding mangoes to the cows, and my son "moo-ed" at the bull who responded. The owners were present and accommodating- they even sent us off with fresh banana muffins when we left. I will say that if you come visit in July, you need to be aware that there is no air conditioning, and it gets pretty warm. (There are fans, but if every bedroom had a stand fan to go with the ceiling fan that would be even better.) We mostly stayed outside on the gorgeous huge porch until after darkness fell and it got cooler inside, when we were home. We visited Xunantunich and Calico Jack's Village ziplining and the Belize Zoo while staying here, and everything was within an hour's drive or so. The ice cream (and air conditioning) at Western Dairy in Spanish Lookout are not to be missed. We had a great time and would definitely stay here again!

Our Stay in Belize

We traveled to Belize for a nephews wedding and wanted a house that would accomodate six of our family. I found this place online and I'm so glad we did!! It was perfect for us, a very quiet setting with pastures and cattle grazing below the house. The wraparound deck/porch was a lovely place to relax and view the beauties of nature undisturbed by anything. We had the address in our GPS and it took us right to the correct place but since we could not see the house from the road, we were not sure where to enter from the road. The owners are very accommodating and we could contact them anytime for help with anything. We simply called them and they told us where the driveway off the road was. They were very gracious, if we needed anything at all, we felt very free to contact them. We loved the location of the house also. It was behind the Billy White Village which is a picture of the life and culture of Belize. The locals are very friendly, they gave us smiles and waves as we drove by. The road past the house and village are gravel, but it is only 10 minutes or so to the blacktop road. There are many stores and places to eat in Spanish Lookout, a very lovely community there. We ate at Golden Corral, (not the chain as in US), and Western Dairies. The food and service was very good. The interior of the house is very nice also. It is light and cheery due to the large patio windows and high ceiling in the living area. We enjoyed the ample room with the comfortable sofas n chair for relaxing and being together. We slept very well, the beds were comfortable. If we have occasion to go to Belize in the future, we would choose to stay here again.

Great get away in the Rain Forest but close to Adventure

This is a great place to stay if you want to get away from the city and enjoy the country/local lifestyle yet close enough to drive to adventure locations in the area. The owners were very friendly and answered emails promptly and were available for advice in the local area. The description of the house was described accurately but pictures do not do the location justice. You must see it first hand to appreciate it. Many activities are within an hour drive such as cave tubing, ATM cave, horseback riding through the rain forest and Mayan ruins. Some attractions you will need a guide though. We are already planning a return trip in the near future with some of our friends to share in our experience there.

Our family has made the best friends and adapted easily to life in Central America; they're enjoying sports, dance classes and church plays.

Why they chose this property

Located in the Caribbean, the small coastal country of Belize is just a few hours flight from major US cities; it’s main language is English; it has a stable banking system, and it abides by English law. Belize is perhaps one of the last frontiers of truly free living.

Enjoy 90 acres of fertile farmland and gorgeous views in the foothills of the Mayan mountains next to Spanish Lookout, in Cayo, 2 hrs. from the Belize City airport.

This chunk of heaven has rolling hills with tropical fruit trees and pines. It’s in the Billy White area just 2.5 miles from the popular Mennonite community Spanish Lookout which is the center for local produce, fresh meat, fresh baked goods, and modern-day conveniences.

Quaint, safe Spanish Lookout is 20 minutes from San Ignacio – a favorite of expats and tourists - which also has a hospital. The property is fenced completely; some is cleared for cattle, some for tree & farming and year-round gardening. The rest of the 100 acres is lush tropical vegetation. Heaven Valley has a pond and a freshwater creek running throughout. The property is accessible directly from the main road but maintains privacy and spaciousness.

Brand new beautiful Swiss chalet with cathedral hardwood ceiling, hardwood floors and a homey log cabin style. Four spacious bedrooms, two baths with large river rock showers and natural tree-based fixtures. Approximately 2000 with a huge 600 square foot wrap-around deck with gorgeous views of papaya and coconut trees. Wake up to the charming white Brahma cattle grazing, monkeys and the tropical breeze.

Deluxe appliances including fridge, stove, dishwasher and microwave. Various kinds of hardwood are included, and detail you would see only from a master craftsman, including all hand-made cabinets.

What makes this property unique

Enjoy 90 serene acres with a jungle creek.
Watch for Iguanas; toucans; monkeys; eel and crocs in the pond.
Situated in Cayo district in between Spanish Lookout and San Ignacio, the home is a short 12 minute drive from the peaceful Mennonite Farming Community of Spanish Lookout which has all dining and shopping amenities.
