Admiral Cottage is absolutely wonderful! It's in a perfect location - close to everything, yet quiet, and with gorgeous views from the living room and bedroom windows. The apartment was clean, beautifully decorated, and had all the amenities we needed. The beds were very comfortable and the extra half bath on the first floor was convenient. Our family had a fantastic stay!

Wonderful location and pretty cottage. The cottage was very comfortable and central in St Ives. The was just lovely and enjoyed sitting in the garden.. The only suggestion for future guests is to increase stock supply of basic necessities such as toilet paper, paper towels, tea and espresso pods.

Wonderful stay

We had a lovely time in this centrally located property. The house is lovely, has everything you need in a home from home. So close to everything but also tucked out of the way to enjoy quiet evenings. The view is spectacular!

A beautiful cottage in an idyllic location

In the centre of St Ives with truly wonderful views of the harbour, Admiral Cottage is a fabulous holiday let. Every detail has been thought of and owner Melanie provided us with a great information folder, all the utensils and equipment you would have at home and even the means to make a very welcome cuppa on arrival. I could have spent days looking at the view from the 1st and 2nd floor windows and tiny garden at the front was a little haven of tranquility. Seconds from wonderful shops and restaurants. I wish it was mine.

Excellent stay at Admiral Cottage. The host, Melanie, gave expert help, which is needed when navigating the streets of St Ives. The property was just as described, and we particularly enjoyed being off the main street, where there was no foot traffic, but still steps away from the main area and waterfront. My wife and I were both writing books during the week, and the top floor was a perfect writer's retreat, with a bed for a nap or two :) A few tips: There is a well-stocked Coop grocery store about 5 minutes walk, so you can get most things you need for cooking and meals in the cottages and toiletries for bathroom (there's also a half-bath aka toilet). The kitchen is well-stocked with utensils (pots, pans, dish-ware, coffee cups, glasses of all sorts). The coffee maker is one that takes capsules. The dishwasher and clothes washer worked great.The closest parking is barnoon with the Park App. Spaces go fast, and many, like us, just kept our car parked all week, so you might want a back-up place) - all are walking distance. Since there is no road access to the cottage, parking at barnoon (above the Tate Gallery) was a short walk down hill. Melanie was great helping with directions.We were also celebrating our wedding anniversary and found that the ARDO Mediterranean restaurant at the bottom of the hill from the Cottage (on Fore Street) did not disappoint, i.e., exceeded expectations. Admiral Cottage also met and exceeded expectations -- 5 stars on all counts!

Beautiful house, amazing view

Lovely house in a quiet oasis just off the main street in St Ives. Stunning view across the ever changing harbour and up to Godrevy and the lighthouse House is beautifully designed. Well equipped kitchen with the basics very kindly supplied - salt/pepper/teabags etc Loved having the drying room for wetsuits/beach towels etc We would love to stay here again. Only warning, there is basically no vehicular access anywhere near, so everything has to be carried in from the car park down/up the steep steps.

Great holiday home with beautiful view!

Modern, comfortable home with everything you need. Great view over the bay and out to sea, which is a short walk away. Shop less than 5 mins walk, St Ives not far. Would recommend highly!

This is a review for Birdsong, not Admiral, my mistake ( owner). I know you did also visit into the cottage which is in the centre of St Ives and made the same comment about stunning views and a great location. We bought the cottage over 26 years ago and Birdsong followed 10 years later when our family grew in size. Melanie

Beautiful cottage,gorgeous views,peaceful position

We loved our week at this beautiful ,homely cottage. Peaceful position but only minutes walking to the main amenities of St Ives. As for the view..... Absolutely stunning! We woke every morning,amazed by it. Plenty of lovely restaurants nearby, we liked the Seafood Cafe and can recommend the coffees at the Cafe Pasta, especially enjoyed sitting on the bench outside,looking at the harbour. Beautiful beaches,great for just a swim or for bodyboarding. Minack theatre is beautiful and worth a visit. We will definitely return to Admirel Cottage, on our own and with family ,it's ideal for both. Missing it already 😊

lovely harbour view

We all loved Admiral Cottage. It is completely central and yet perfectly tucked away and very quiet at night. The view over rooftops to the harbour is gorgeous and means you never feel cut off from the sea. It's well and stylishly furnished. We all liked getting back there after a day on the beach and it really felt like home. The only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is the access by steep steps which is fine for most people but a bit of a challenge with a buggy. We wished we'd booked two weeks instead of one.

Good for a short break

I've been to St Ives a few times. This place really shines if you've got kids or you just want to be very central. It's hidden just off the Main Street so has a bit of seclusion but really easy to get everywhere. Property was clean and well maintained. Didn't really have much contact with the owner but they seemed nice. There is a good restaurant called the seafarer just below the steps leading to this house. I would really recommend that too. All in all would definitely recommend. One of the best places I've stayed in St Ives.

Thank you for your review, our location and views are why we bought it 25 years ago. It is just off Fore Street but tucked away, so is very central but a little oasis from the business of the main road and harbour. I hope you return to us soon.

Winter Break

We came down to St Ives for a relaxing winter break. Admiral Cottage ticked all the boxes for us - right in the middle of the town with easy access to shops and restaurants but tucked away and really quiet in February. We parked in a long-stay car park a few minutes walk up the hill, which involved a long flight of steps - it was fine on arrival, but it would have been better to pack smaller loads than one big suitcase, for the return journey. The cold winds made us very glad of the central heating which kept the cottage cosy, and being able to watch over the sunlit harbour with a hot drink and knees against the radiator was the best way to warm up after a bracing walk! The cottage is very well equipped and comfortable, and feels light and airy. St Ives had plenty going on even in February; we looked round many art galleries, including the Tate, and there was a big choice of restaurants. We found the perfect place to eat every night at the bottom of the steps, in Fore Street - the Seafood Cafe - and a few paces away from it the Allotment Deli provided us with fresh bread, fruit and delicious cakes. There were lots of fashion and jewelry shops, two childrenswear shops and a great little bookshop, with a Coop about 10 minutes walk for general groceries. In all, St Ives and Admiral Cottage made a great winter break for us.

Stunning!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Admiral Cottage. We have three young kids (8,6,4) who loved every minute. The cottage has been refurbished to a high standard, with lots of thoughtful details to make it a pleasant place to be on a rainy day. It also has excellent access to St. Ives and the Harbour. But I think what we loved the most was the beautiful views from the flat of the Harbour and the ocean. I never got tired of looking out the window. Highly recommended.

Comfortable Cottage

The view of the harbour from the lounge is absolutely lovely. My family and I really enjoyed our week here, it was an excellent location for us as central in the town but also hidden from the main streets. The house is well maintained, modern and was very clean on arrival! Very impressed, thank you!

Lovely cottage with stunning Views

We have just returned home after a great week in Cornwall, staying in the lovely Admiral Cottage in St Ives. The cottage is located off Fore Street, right in the heart of St Ives, yet tucked away and incredibly quiet as a result. The harbour and one of the many beaches are just minutes away. Accommodation is on the ground and top floors. The kitchen and lounge were on the first floor and with the most stunning views of the harbour and out across St Ives Bay. We found ourselves just constantly sipping tea and staring out of the window watching the ever changing view!! Our five year old summed up how we all felt as we locked up to leave, "I love it here, I want to come back"... we will little fella!

Why they chose this property

This is a proper handsome home, with garden, utility room, and breathtaking harbour views. We are well equipped have a high standard of cleanliness and are so close to all that St Ives offers...Sip your morning coffee while watching the sunrise above the harbour.

What makes this property unique

Admiral is in the middle of a pretty terrace of 5 Fishermans cottages. The name 'Academy' terrace came from the fact that there was a school to train Admirals in the late nineteenth century on the site. The row of cottages were built in the Victorian era to house the growing fishing industry in the town. The whole terrace is tucked away yet open to the harbour with breathtaking views towards Godrevy and the north Cornish coast.
