Spent a lovely couple of days and nights at this lovely property with some friends. Lovely location and facilities to relax and enjoy our time together.
Great location for attending a wedding we had near by.
The property worked really well and the family thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Emma was very helpful and great host.
Property was perfect for family (8 dog). Owners friendly and helpful. Small issue with hot water which was dealt with immediately.4 stars only because kitchen was quite small for 2 of us to be preparing food etc - not a big issue though.
We have had an absolutely wonderful stay at Southwold barn. It was spotless and beautifully done out. In a lovely peaceful spot for my dad’s 80th birthday. Just what we needed for our family. We would love to come again next year. Thank you so much. Jo and Family
We stay as a family of 5 (3 adults and 2 children) for nine nights in summer. The small village itself has a nice stream for jumping in puddles and fields to enjoy all of the sheep and is a very short drive to other villages with pubs and restaurants. Also very centrally located for the larger Cotswolds attractions. Emma was an exceptional host and very responsive and helpful during the entire day and our check-in/check-out. We would definitely say again for an extended holiday.
We’re a group of school friends and came away to celebrate all turning 50 in the past year. Emma was so helpful and welcoming, and everything was provided for a really comfortable and enjoyable stay in a beautiful part of the world. We’re already planning a repeat visit.
Property was well laid out and very well equipped. The garden was lovely, with various places to sit. The hosts were helpful and and friendly. There are lots of places to visit to suit all ages within easy reach. We had a great time.
The barn is beautifully turned out & set in an idyllic part of the Cotswolds. Our family from California adored their stay at the barn. Amongst some of the sights we did, the kids had a great time at the Cotswold farm park.
Only negative is that we only had time enough for 2 nights!
We spent our family Christmas at Southwold Barn and it was nothing short of magical. The barn is lovely and spacious, and incredibly cosy — the perfect setting for a festive Cotswolds escape! Emma had a beautifully decorated Christmas tree set up for our arrivals as well as other Christmas decorations throughout. Our hosts were warm and welcoming, and although their home is on the property, the barn felt completely private, peaceful, and secluded throughout our stay. It was just us, the sheep and the free-range chickens! The property is ideally located for discovering the Cotswolds, and also great for walking and exploring the local area. It’s a special place that created wonderful memories for our family, and we couldn’t have asked for a better Christmas stay. We would return in a heartbeat. Thank you Emma and Stuart for your hospitality!
beautiful barn with a lovely touch of Christmas with the gorgeous Christmas tree, plenty of room for people to sit, would be lovely in the summer too, good location to the Cotswold towns
We couldn’t have been happier with our stay. The location is one of the prettiest places we have stayed. On arrival Emma met us at the door and showed us around the house. There were pastries and fresh milk provided by the hosts. We walked around the town and so many of the neighbors came out to talk to us. It was close to many other villages but none as pretty as where we stayed. Highly recommend and would love to stay again if we ever come back to the area
Remote but easily accessible and was a perfect venue to bring our immediate family together. The facilities and accommodation suited our requirements very well. Good walks available without driving. The traditional village fete held on a warm sunny day was a bonus. Owners very friendly.
Beautiful barn with everything you need in a gorgeous location. Six of us stayed for a wedding at The Compton Gallery, literally 5 minutes away. Emma the host was very friendly, welcoming and helpful, we couldn’t have asked for more. I’ll definitely be recommending Southwold Barn to all my family and friends for a relaxing break.
Such a beautiful tranquil setting for four siblings and in-laws/partners to spend quality time together. We could not have asked for more during our stay. Emma was welcoming and a pleasure to meet. The care and attention to detail for a comfortable stay was so appreciated. Our family will never forget the happy time we spent together at Southwold Barn in the beautiful Cotswolds.
We had a little trouble finding the place using Google maps but we got there in the end. The place was big and well located for us going to a wedding close by. We did also enjoy some local walks. We had text messages and visits from the hosts family to check we were all settled in ok. There were a few little things that may need fixing. One of the blinds upstairs didn’t stay closed (we screwed it back in) and the sink in one of the upstairs bathrooms got the plug stuck in but apart from that everything was fine. We had a lovely stay. Thank you.
We felt as if we were being spied on after receiving a text off the owner on the first evening reminding us of how many people could stay at the property. Because of this we wouldn’t stay there again .

Unfortunately as explained to you we are licensed and insured for up to 8 people who are named on the booking, this is clearly stated in out T&Cs which you agreed to. After your arrival further people started to arrive in additional cars, hence the polite text which was sent reminding you of this.
The additional arrivals invalidated our insurance and broke our T&Cs, potentially putting both ourselves and you at risk should an accident happen.
Our son’s wedding was held at Stone Barn on the Saturday and we booked from the Thursday to the following Tuesday. I’m very glad we did. The property is as described and is in a very quiet location on its own plot with plenty of space. The bedrooms were comfortable, the bathrooms and en-suites spacious and well equipped. Best of all there was seating for everyone in the living area (seven of us) - not the case in most other properties in our experience. Board games available for rainy days. Good kitchen but could benefit from a couple of basic oven trays.
A very decent property and happy to recommend.

Why they chose this property
We bought Southwold Farm in 2001 and converted Southwold Barn from 5 cart barns in 2004. we fell in love with the village and area as there is so much to do in the locality, whether is sporting, relaxing, eating or visiting the great local gin and whiskey distilleries or simply walking in the beautiful Cotswolds countryside
