My dad, daughter and I had a wonderful time at this cabin. It’s so cute and I love the bedroom upstairs. It was perfectly located for us because we skied at Snow Summit. I definitely recommend this place if you are open to cozy spaces.
We loved our stay at the Baby Bear Bungalow. The cabin is spacious and even with its rustic charm it is still comfortable. You can’t beat the reasonable price especially when you consider how close it is to the slopes!

Liked: Check-in, communication
Disliked: Listing accuracy
the communication was good the cabin just lacked too many basics and overall needed attention. I was made aware there was hard water issues with the sink sprayer so I brought my own HW spray , make shift rug in the center of the living area rolled all over the place and looked like there had been attempts at taping it together . It should had been thrown away 5 months ago when the first person complained they tripped on it every day.took a bath and it was nice aside from the water spraying everywhere due to more hard water build up . Zero wash cloths available to drape over it so I used the 1 and only hand towel . Following day my husband went to take a shower and moved the shower head to the holder up top and what do you know the adhesive is no longer sticky so a relaxing shower is not an option. Next I went to prepare breakfast and it states in the agreement that the guest are responsible for washing dishes thoroughly and this had not been done as each dish I pulled out was extremely greasy. In my opinion that should be checked, next I found a dirty foreman grill in the chest w/games…disgusting , tv in bedroom doesn’t work unless you want to use a dvd player. Went to bed to realize no cases on the pillows. 3 towels total left for a 4 day stay. Broken blinds and splattered liquid on them. Bed down stairs need to be replaced as well. Perishable food left in fridge/freezer . Being charged a cleaning fee is wild when you walk into a mess like this. Very disappointing rental

The tears in the rug she is referring to is a carpet pad literally underneath the rug. The former guest who mentioned tripping over it is actually coming back to stay again in September. It was also flipped over to correct the curling of it, which is what the trip hazard was. The rug may be replaced this year, but this is a minor issue for something that gets walked all over with dirty hiking boots.
This lady seemed easy going at first, but it was very apparent during her entire stay that she cannot relax about anything. A lot of what she says here is an extreme exaggeration. The “perishable” items in the fridge/freezer were condiments and an unopened bag of French fries left by a previous guest. It is clear that this person should have never rented a rustic 1940s mountain cabin. She is a boutique hotel type of person. I refunded her some money, but will never EVER rent to her or hopefully anyone like her again.
An absolutely charming little cabin with everything you need for 1-3 people. The neighborhood is peaceful, safe and beautiful, and the hiking is easily accessible and incredibly gorgeous, with a ton of wildlife. I didn't bring a dog, but when I saw the very large fenced backyard I thought how much fun a dog would have at that property! Some really exciting surprises included a washing machine and fold out clothes hanger, as well as THE MOST wonderful overhead heater for the bathroom, you start feeling warm in less than 20 seconds. I wish i had one in my house!!I was really excited and impressed to find that all the windows seemed new (and maybe the door as well), and they all had screens and were sealed really well. Laura is ultra responsive to any questions or concerns, and she's kind and helpful to work with. There was never any trouble getting in touch with a question. I can only think of a couple *very* minor complaints. There was a rug in the family room that was not fully attached to the padding underneath, and I did trip over that at least once a day. Secondly, the back bedroom smelled of something. It wasn't overpowering or terrible, just something to be aware of if you are sensitive to smells. I opened the windows every day in that room and it seemed to help a lot!I loved my stay there and would absolutely recommend if you're looking for a cozy place to stay while in Big Bear.

Thanks so much, Michelle! That rug is due for a replacement sometime soon for sure. Sorry about that! And I’m hoping that smell in the back room has gone by now!! :-/ Perhaps it was from the dog that stayed for a little over 3 months right before your stay..?? Anyway, it was absolutely lovely hosting you. Thanks again and I hope you keep in touch!
My first experience in Big Bear and this property was a great choice. The pic caught my eye and I was in love. Everything proved to be accurate about the property and the overall experience. I will definitely come back!
The cabin is cute, comfortable, clean, and had everything we needed. Plus the jetted tub was clean and really fun. My 9yo granddaughter loved the spiral staircase to the spacious loft, but would not recommend for small children or elders. We even made good use of the plastic sleds! Both front and back yards were big enough for kids to play in the snow and hang out. Highly recommend for the right family.

Amazing little retreat up in the mountains!
Was an awesome cabin that I and my pup loved! Cozy and remote, this cabin is a great location with close access to hiking trails, Big Bear Zoo, and the town itself! Definitely will add this little retreat to my lists of must rent places!

Great location!
The cleanliness and location were fantastic. It was easy to access the mountain, hiking trails are within walking distance, and it's far enough away from the village to avoid traffic, but close enough that you can get there in 10 minutes or less, even with traffic. The cabin is small but roomy, the layout would work perfectly for 2-3 people. It was just me and my dog, so we had plenty of room. The kitchen is fully stocked with plates, utensils, cleaning supplies, most anything you could need to make a few meals. The back deck was nice to sit on during the day. If you're going to be grilling out back, bring a lantern, the automatic lights will turn off if you sit still for too long and the patio lights don't provide great visibility. The only real issue I had was that the furnace went from 0-60 in a notch or two, so it was either chilly or I was broiling, but I went with chilly most of the time and just curled up under blankets or wore a sweatshirt. Laura was very friendly and easy to communicate with, and there are plenty of instructions posted inside the cabin to help guide you if you have questions - I didn't have to contact her at all after I arrived. I would happily stay there again!

Cute, cozy, cabin getaway!
We arrived after dark to this fun get away. We were pleased the address was lit up for us to see. The keys were easily accessed and the home was cozy, clean, and had everything we needed. The fenced yard in the back had a deep lot, and it was wonderful for our dog who loves to romp and play outside. The furnishings were full of character and made us feel at home. One of the highlights was the spa jetted bathtub. It adds a little extra luxury and relaxation and who doesn't enjoy that? The bed was comfortable and the small desk and chair were great for our laptop. We didn't use the upstairs loft, but it seemed extra roomy. The only hesitation I would have would be young children or elderly as the spiral stairs could be a safety issue. We loved the neighborhood and it was so close to Bear Mountain which would be a big plus especially in the wintertime. Our favorite activity was bike riding on the North Shore of the Lake. Everything was conveniently located within a short drives distance. The only complaint would be the construction going on next door. They started by 8am and it would have been nice to have another hr or so of quiet. They didn't work on Sunday which was a plus. It would be helpful to have some instructions on accessing the Netflix and how to effectively use the Franklin stove which us city folk weren't used to. All and all it was a VERY enjoyable stay. Thanks!

Thanks for the great review and useful feedback, Virginia! I am so sorry about the construction. :-/ They don't usually work on the weekends and will be done by this winter, which is very soon. I can't wait!
I build stunts and obstacles for reality television after working in the rock climbing industry for 10 years. I spend a lot of time travelling all over the country and the rest of the world!
Why they chose this property
I loved the modern yet rustic feel, the amount of space in the backyard, and the neighborhood. The spiral staircase is my favorite architectural feature and the loft is my favorite room (especially in the winter, as it's the warmest)! The wood burning stove is the best little thing to warm the entire house. I also liked that it was a manageable size, but still had plenty of different spaces for people to hang out. Front porch or backyard/deck, upstairs or down, eating nook or office nook, watch tv from the recliners in the main room or watch a movie in bed, or take a long bath in the jet tub!
What makes this property unique
Superb location. Flat parking spaces to make it easier in the winter. Walking distant
