Relaxation at its best! Guadalupe River frontage ~ Above the Rapids @ Gruene

June's Retreat sleeps 12 adults and offers a beautiful view with river frontage just above the rapids at Historic Gruene. We're within walking distance to Gruene, Texas with something for everyone. River outfitters are nearby for those wanting adventure on the river, restaurants and entertainment venues are just up the hill in Gruene and New Braunfels, and Schlitterbahn is about five miles away. Our home and property are minimally furnished to enhance the outdoor, nature focused environment and to provide a clean and simplistic approach for all who visit. June's Retreat has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Covered patio and an open deck offer great outdoor access. The house offers a full kitchen and comfortable living area. Guests have access to the large, beautiful lawn that leads to the river with a barbeque pit and fire pit. Since Covid, guests have provided their own sheets and towels, but we can arrange for sheets and towels to be available for an additional fee.
The deposit will hold the reservation. Payment in full is due 28 days prior to arrival. Travelers who cancel at least 60 days before check-in will receive a refund or credit for another reservation to be used within one year.

Start the dishwasher
Strip any used beds and gather used towels
Remove personal items, remove leftover food and drinks and take out the rubbish
Turn off the lights, lock the doors and return the keys
Failure to complete these may result in a negative review from the host.
Deposit required; payment in full due 28 days prior to arrival. Cancellation 28 days before check-in will receive a 1 yr. credit.
A rental agreement will be sent to the email address provided once the deposit is received. Access instructions are sent prior to arrival by text.
Guests are responsible for providing all bed linens, pillows and towels.

Great location and nice riverfront home.

This is a fantastic place that is a short walk to everything that Gruene has to offer. It is right on the river and is perfect for floating, fishing, or chilling.

Beautiful property with great hosts

We loved our stay at June’s Retreat. Jamie was quick with communication and checked in to make sure we had everything we needed. The house is clean and has lots of space, but the best part is the property. We loved swimming, playing volleyball, and sitting outside. I hope to stay here again.

Absolutely stunning grounds. House is clean and great for 8 adults and 1 two year old (our party.) Recommend bringing a baby gate if you have a small child for the indoor stairs. Loved the river access. Perfect location. Highly recommend!

Great location beautiful property

Spent a week here. Location is perfect, easy to get to everything. Property was amazing. The house had a lot of beds plenty of room for everyone. Stairs a little steep for us older folks, but nothing to the young ones. Deck was so nice to enjoy the view. Had daily visits from the local deer and other wild life. It was a really nice relaxing stay.

Property reasonably decorated. Very functional as far as river access and comfortable spot on river to soak and relax. Was surprised to find out property does not provide sheets or towels. Large deck and cooking equipment under deck. Very convenient to Gruene. Enjoyed stay and would recommend to others.

Great Location/Bare Bones

Great location but it has very minimal furnishings. No towels, sheets, or soap. An amazing deck and yard on the river, but only about 4 chairs to sit on. It's BYOE. Bring your own everything.

Excellent location for a gathering or reunion.

We brought kayaks and a paddleboard which were easy to launch right off the concrete landing. The rapids were fun to play in just down river from the house. Lawn is huge and perfect for bocce ball soccer and frisbee. Large dinning table for meals. Deck off den and covered area down stairs all were wonderful for our relaxing weekend. We walked into gruene for a meal and drove 10 min to NB for another. The kitchen is well stocked so we were able to grill and use the oven for other meals. We would definitely go again.

Simple and relaxing

This is a no frills rental for sure, but not a negative by any means unless you’re flying in and don’t have the ability to pack your own sheets, pillowcases, towels, iron, etc. the property looks exactly as pictured and was so very comfortable for our family to celebrate a graduation. I’ll second the suggestion to bring a baby gate for the top of the stairs. The grounds are gorgeous and we loved being able to cook out, sit and listen to the rapids and the sounds of downtown Greune…we were visited by a family of 10 deer one afternoon too! It truly felt like a retreat

Perfect location on the river

Our group consisted of 10 people - 2 adults, 6 teenagers and 2 kids.. oh and our dog. The house had plenty of beds for all, and the lay out allowed us not to feel cramped. You are really paying for the location, and the yard. It is a very beautiful piece of property, so convienent to rapids, shopping, restaurants.. house was clean and a/c worked well. The only downsides are, bringing your own linens and towels. Can be a pain with a large group, and NO washer/dryer makes it difficult to have clean towels... But we made due.

Always good to be at the river

The place was just as advertised! So convenient to town and tube rentals, house was great, yard was terrific, waterfront was nice but a bit stagnant (no one can control the weather...just what it was), and we enjoyed our stay! I will say I thoroughly did not enjoy putting a pile of wet towels to take home in my car, so be sure you note that no towels or linens are provided (and that means even hand towels in the bathroom and kitchen) and you still get to pay a pretty decent cleaning fee. Not a negative to the property or the owners - it was in the description text, but something to be aware of when you consider the work involved doing that yourself (packing, making and unmaking all the beds on your vacation) and that those amenities not being included in the price charged. Owners were very easy to work with, answered our questions quickly before our stay, etc.

Our property is on five acres with river frontage, has been in the family for over 30 years, and is within walking distance to Gruene. We offer a simplistic atmosphere with the outdoors and location being the attraction. We offer our guests a clean, comfortable house that provides all you need to enjoy a stay away from home. We are excited to be able to offer families the opportunity to enjoy the beauty of the Guadalupe River and to have easy access to the fun and entertainment that Gruene, TX has to offer. This location is great year-round with so many opportunities to enjoy activities in the nearby area. The greatest part about this property is the tranquil setting it offers to relax by the river or watch wildlife from the deck. We currently reside just down the road from the property address.

Why they chose this property

Our location is prime! We are centrally located in Gruene/New Braunfels which is equal distance to Austin and San Antonio. We have river access just above the rapids at the Gruene Bridge and easy walking to Gruene for great dining and shopping. Our location is perfect for summer activities and yet offers a lovely setting for the fall and winter months.
