Very clean, very comfortable but, best of all, extremely well equipped (probably as good as I've experienced). Also, the effort put into the Christmas decorations was much appreciated.

We had an excellent weeks stay at Badgers Rake 12 and would definitely stay here again. Everything in the flat is just perfect and being on the second floor one gets the most amazing views over Ambleside to the fells beyond. Just one thing to be aware of, if walking from the main road into Ambleside, Badgers Rake is up a fairly short but very steep hill.

Great views over Ambleside & beyond - we were lucky to see it under a cloud inversion with blue skies above. Also views down to the garden with lots of birds around. Recently done & well equipped kitchen & bathroom. Clear to see that the owners furnish & equip it to a high standard.Worth noting that apartment is on 2nd floor with no lift but not a problem for us. There didn’t seem to be any other residents in the rest of the block most of the time we were there which just enhanced the peace & quiet. Loved our stay here.

Watching the sunset over the mountains, birds flying around the garden and watching the bats come out in the eves. A short walk to town. Waterfall nearby.
The apartment it self was well equipped with everything you need. Plenty of space for 4 people. Drinking coffee on the balcony watching the sunshine on the mountains. Could do with a lick of paint above the balcony, but it hasn’t put me off, i’ve booked to stay there again next year

The location was excellent, even with the steep climb up the hill! Although that gave us fantastic views from the living room and kitchen balcony. One small issue, some of the kitchen utensils could do with an upgrade, but we managed fine. Parking space and garage really useful. We particularly liked the large living room with faux open fire and beautiful peaky views. Had a fantastic time, probably our best trip to the Lakes so far and Badgers Rake made for an excellent nest

Badgers Rake is a great apartment for exploring the wonderful Lake District landscape and mountains
Badgers Rake is a great apartment for exploring the wonderful Lake District landscape and mountains in the Ambleside area. You can walk out the door and up amazing mountains and are on the foothills of the Fairfield Horseshoe - a classic Lake District mountain walk. A real highlight of the apartment is the views from both the large sitting room window and the balcony off the dining area as the apartment is on the 2nd floor of the building - absolutely stunning views of the Horseshoe mountain range! It's a bit of a steep 10 minute climb walk out of Ambleside centre to the apartment - not for the weak or frail. But what do you expect when you're in the Lake District! You're going to be walking up some steep hills. Lots of amenities and places to eat & drink in Ambleside. Good facilities in the apartment too. Also lovely and quiet as you're out of the town centre. Thoroughly recommended - I will be revisiting this apartment- but out of season!

Fantastic views from the lounge and kitchen/dining area windows. Well equipped and warm. The downside is that it is two storeys up and no lift.

Excellent views over Ambleside from the large windows and the balcony.
Excellent views over Ambleside from the large windows and the balcony.
Up a steep hill so unsuitable for anyone unfit or young children.
Very comfortable double bed (didn't try the two single beds).
Well equipped kitchen.
Lounge furniture dated and a little worn.
Bathroom spacious but could do with updating. Bath with shower over.
Heating is difficult to control (warm air, storage heaters).

Location is up a steep hill so if you struggle with walking it may challenge.
Location is up a steep hill so if you struggle with walking it may challenge. The view is worth it! Picture window sets the panoramic aspect. Beds great. Rooms all very nice and overall very clean. Few minor bits but nothing much to bother over. Our toilet broke but maintenance came within an hour without problem and fixed it. Quiet location in residential area which suited us but again up several flights of stairs - made for a great view! Hairdryer, towels, nice quality bedding, we all said we would return.
