We had a fantastic New Year at Rhandir Barn. Lovely spot, the Christmas tree was an added bonus. For us it was just lovely, great walks and places to visit. We took everything we needed food and drink wise for our short stay, which maybe worth doing in winter. The town is a short drive away, down narrow country roads. For us no bother and loved it, others may not like it, especially if a lot of snow and ice. For the owners maybe add an ice tray and other kitchen bits that people may not think about, also update the leaflets. This is not a complaint though, we loved our stay, would love to stay again. Thank you.
Great location to escape the stress of every day. Wild hills and spooky valleys. There was a big storm that killed the Internet connection for 4 days, so we had a digital detox. Electricity, heating and cooking worked perfectly all the time. We stayed over Christmas and the owner even decorated a tree for us before our arrival.

This was exactly the holiday we were looking for.
This was exactly the holiday we were looking for. In a very remote location, boasting stunning views of the scenery and Carreg Cennen Castle - this is exactly what we were hoping for. Mobile phone signal wasn’t available on my network (Tesco/O2) but a drive 5 minutes up the road and it’s accessible, fast internet in the cottage as well, if you need it. Personally, the lack of signal, and being out in the middle of nowhere was exactly what I wanted, so if you’re looking for this as well - the location is perfect. The cottage facilities were superb. It’s bigger than I was expecting, which was a pleasant surprise, yet still holds a cosy, homely atmosphere in the way it has been laid out. Everything you could need is in the kitchen, plenty of toilet rolls provided throughout the house, and a huge array of leaflets for the area. The beds were comfortable - the mattresses were on the firmer side, which was perfect for me; this is obviously a personal preference. I found the beds and linen very comfortable. The cleanliness could not be faulted, it was very clean throughout. There is a decent amount of space for parking outside the front of the cottage, wood was provided for the log burner. We absolutely loved the cottage, and we will definitely be coming back again, at some point. This is perfect for an autumn getaway, and we would definitely recommend staying!* I have rated the local amenities lowly, as you do need to drive in order to get to the shops. The nearest supermarket, that we knew of, was a short drive away. The nearby castle is definitely worth visiting. As I say - this suited us, because we wanted an escape from society, so this was ideal, but worth noting if you’re thinking or visiting.

We had a lovely stay at Rhandir Barn.
We had a lovely stay at Rhandir Barn. The kitchen was very well equipped and a pleasure to cook in. The wood burning stove was lovely.
Rhandir Barn is in the middle of nowhere (down very narrow Welsh lanes), so I put the "local amenities" as 6 - but we were aware of this and wanted to "get away" and so this was not a problem at all for us.
I would definitely recommend this property and would happily go back to any of the Cennen Cottages properties in the area.

A lovely property - warm, comfortable, generally clean although the windows could have done with a good clean to enjoy the views. As described and photographed. What isn't shown is that there is a big fridge/freezer in the kitchen which was great. Could do with some more crockery (like cereal bowls and serving dishes) and pots and pans, but we managed. We could only get a phone signal at the top of the garden behind the house, which I guess is not surprising given the barn's location. Also, the wifi went down several afternoons for a few hours for no apparent reason. The TV may be capable of being a Smart TV but we couldn't find the connection to make it so. Also, as several previous reviews have mentioned, the division of seating between the two living areas makes watching TV together difficult as it is in the smaller area with only a 3-seater setee looking directly at the TV and another chair you have to sit at 90 degrees in to see the screen. It might be better if the owners moved the TV into the larger seating area, next to the fire where at least 4 people can watch in comfort or 5 if you drag another chair in. Overall though a great property.

Very nice cottage in quiet location.
Very nice cottage in quiet location. Cottage was very clean; we would have preferred more cutlery. The owners were very accommodating when we asked 2 duvets for a double bed instead of 1 large one.

What a delightful, quiet and relaxing place this is.
What a delightful, quiet and relaxing place this is. Everything we needed was provided and Rhandir is an ideal place to use as a base to go exploring the Brecons. The local pub put on a good meal and local amenities are not too far away but I recommend you stock up as once you arrive at Rhandir you won’t want to leave again!
