About this property
Beautiful Log Cabin w/loft. 1/2 mile to Red's Landing Boat Launch! A+ fishing.
This cedar A-frame log cabin has everything you need for a wonderful vacation or just a weekend getaway. Newly renovated on the inside and brand new hot tub. It is a wonderful place to stay year round. We have many guests that come to fish, but also many guests that come just to relax. This cabin has a bedroom downstairs with a king bed and a spiral staircase winding upstairs to the open loft that has a queen bed overlooking the living room.
The cabin comes nicely equipped with everything you need so bring your favorite things to cook. Nice large expansive deck to grill your favorite steak while overlooking the firepit or cook in the air conditioning on the gas stove while watching the big game or.....just do both.
If cooking is not your thing, eat at one of our many amazing restaurants. 5 star dining is available within 1 mile of your front door. You will not be disappointed. Several places to eat within 15-20 minutes from here and a craft brewery with a saloon to boot. Pizza, prime rib, fajitas, or pork shank osso bucco with lobster tails...we got it all around here.
If you have come to fish, the trout fishing at The Escape at Tall Pines is some of the best in America and we have the records to prove it. The former all tackle world record brown trout was caught 15 minutes away. This trout, which weighed 32 pounds, is still the second largest brown ever caught anywhere in the world. The 3rd largest brown ever caught was also 15 minutes from here. Honestly, I have never caught anything near that big, but I have been fishing here for over 35 years and on many occasions caught 30 or more fish in the morning and another 30 or more after lunch. You can only keep 5 a day, but I like to put mine back and let them keep growing. In 2025 I caught two brown trout from the bank that measured 24 inches in one day.
When you fish the White or Norfork rivers you'll also enjoy some spectacular Ozark Mountain scenery. The water is a clear emerald green. We have bluffs that rise 150 to 200 feet above the water. Meadows, wildlife, water fowl and other birds are common sites along the river banks. Bald eagles are not a rare occurrence. They can normally be seen up and down river. If you are lucky, you may see one swoop down and grab a fish for supper or to feed the babies.
You can rent a boat in the towns of Norfork or Calico Rock which are 10 minutes or 17 minutes respectively from The Escape. If you are not comfortable navigating a boat on the river you can get a guide who can provide the boat and all the tackle. You can buy your fishing licenses and trout stamps in town or easily on the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission website (AGFC.com). Booking fishing or exploration trips with local guides is pretty easy. If you schedule early you can get a guide from around here that will get you on the water and back here with no driving on your part. It is less than 1/2 mile to the boat launch, but they will pick you up and deliver you back home.
About 20 minutes from The Escape is Norfork Lake, which is famous for large striped bass. You can also catch walleye, largemouth, smallmouth, catfish, bream, and crappie. You can rent boats or barges at one of the local marinas or go out with a guide that will provide the boat and all the tackle.
If fishing is not your bag, we have many sights and attractions not a far drive from here. There are many marked hiking and mountain biking trails close to the cabin. Nearby Mtn. View boasts many craft shows, live music, and flea markets many times of the year as well as Blanchard Springs caverns, Mirror lake, the Dulcimer Shoppe, and Loco Ropes adventure ziplining. Calico Rock is known for The Peppersauce Ghost Town and its revitalized Main street with museum and Old Printing Press café. If you are into antique shops there are many in Mountain Home (25 minutes away) and the historical town of Hardy (about 50 minutes away), which is where I go when I am looking for something in particular. I'm gonna say you can always find it in Hardy.
If you are into kayaking, you can rent kayaks or canoes in Norfork with shuttle service provided. In the hottest part of the summer, kayaking on the White river will amaze you. The water will keep you cool and is awesome for a swim. If you bring your own kayaks for your stay here, I will drop you and pick you up.
Whether you decide to relax at the cabin all day or have the Arkansas adventure of a lifetime, just know you can top it off with your favorite beverage in the relaxing, clean hot tub on the back deck. The back decks of both of our cabins are surrounded by a 6 foot tall fence backing up to the woods for your privacy and seclusion.
We are pet friendly for house trained doggy guests!! We only allow smaller dogs up to about twenty pounds, crating is required if left alone. Pet fee is required
Consider staying at a Family owned property instead of a Seen One Seen Them all franchise!!!
I do all of the cleaning and am on site pretty much all of the time. Our hot tubs are drained, cleaned and refilled after each guest.

About the host
Hosted by Clint & Kathey Moody

Kathey & I purchased the Tall Pines Cabins in 2020 and renamed it The Escape at Tall Pines. We named it that to reflect how we have always felt about it, an escape from the grind. A great friend of mine introduced me to this place a long time ago. The two of us used to come up to his uncles house in Calico Rock when he got his drivers license. In our early twenties we started tent camping in Cotter with our wives. A few years later we graduated to a camper. He and his wife discovered this Red's Landing area and invited Kathey and I to come stay. I think we have stayed at every VRBO or rental on this road. We fell in love with this place. They later bought and built right down the road from here. While staying with them one weekend, our buddy Ed that took care of this place notified us that the owner might be wanting to sell. We made a phone call and after several antagonizing nights wondering if we could just leave the city, we decided that this was our new home.
I love the people that our setting draws in, and listening to them being as excited as I was about catching fish, the shore lunch, and how damn cold the water was. It is great helping people make the memories that will last them til the next time and keep them coming back.
When Debra, the lady that helped us change our life, first purchased this place it was a vacant piece of ground with an old run down mobile home on it. Together with her two girls they built these buildings with their own hands. We are slowly doing modifications and adding small things here and there to hopefully make it the place you will want to revisit time after time.

Why they chose this property
After many, many trips and many, many trout caught with so many friends and family buying this place just seemed like I was getting it for my family. Between our local fishing guides and nearby trout docks you can book one of the most fun and lucrative fishing experiences you'll ever remember. Follow that up with dinner at one of our nearby 5 star restaurants or by grilling your own perfect steak on the deck. Finish it up with a dip in the hot tub and a great nights sleep. One of the best parts - if you can book with one of our local guides you are shuttled to the river and back home. NO DRIVING involved. Reds Landing is the best. We love it here.
What makes this property unique
We are not just property managers that want to get you in and out. Our three cabins are our home. My mother and aunts and uncles stay here. My brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews stay here. Most of our guests that stay here come back multiple times to stay. We can leave you alone or we can get to know you. We have some guests that want their privacy and they come and go with no contact and we are ok with that. Others want recommendations and to hear local stories and we are ok with that, too.
It surprises me, but we have several guests that will come to stay and visit Branson, MO and other place that are 2+ hours away and just want to come back to the nature and quiet and the slowness of our area.
Everything you need is furnished except what you eat; there is even a washer and dryer for longer stays
