Private Lakefront Cabin On 14 Acres With Beautiful Sunset Views!
If you're looking for a private, quiet, peaceful retreat with gorgeous sunset views on a beautiful lake, we have just the place for you! Our summer cabin and wooded property has been in our family for three generations. We have 500 feet of lakefront. You're less than 90 minutes away from wonderful recreational and relaxing destinations such as Mackinac Island, Traverse City, wine country, Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes, and Hartwick Pines State Park. Or, just stay around our cabin to read, sunbathe, walk, fish, or swim. TV access includes ABC, NBC, CBS, and PBS. No Internet and little cell phone access can be a blessing! Nearby towns for dining, shopping and entertainment include Lewiston and Gaylord. Sorry, no hunters.
Also, for you past renters in particular, it is with regret that my sister and I plan to sell our cabin and lake property later this year. If you know of a potentially interested buyer, please let me know. Thank you!

We really enjoyed our stay here. The house was clean and had everything we needed. The lake was very quiet and we even caught a few fish off the end of the dock.

P.S. I recognize Haystack Rock in your photo! Judy and I were there last month. Loved Oregon!
We had a wonderful stay. Exactly as listed. Shore line was a little more over grown than the picture but still a beautiful view. Home was clean and well supplied with everything we needed and the property was peaceful. The lake is so clean, perfect for swimming. We loved it there and hope to return next summer. Thank you for sharing this gem with us.

Wonderful place and excellent location. I have loved the area since childhood, and this was the perfect place to stay. I hated to leave. I hope to return next year.
Wonderfully private, secluded fishing cottage. Good fishing for the hubby and a peaceful place for the wife to do some sewing. This was our second visit and we'd be happy to come again!

Extremely clean, well maintained, quiet, relaxing, more amenities than listed. The only draw back was our stay was too short.

About the host
Hosted by Dean Long
My parents first purchased this property from a family member in 1979. For many years, it was their retirement destination throughout the summer. With their passing, my sister and I have owned this property and cabin for the past 25 years. With our year-around homes some distance away, we don't have the opportunity to vacation here as much as we'd like to. However, several of our cousins live close by. Thus, still, we find ourselves staying there for a couple weeks or so during most summers. We love every visit!
What makes this property unique
I can honestly, objectively state that we own THE premier property on Douglas Lake! The sunsets are gorgeous. Fog often rises off the the water in the early morning. At that time, and at dusk, the water is like glass, making it perfect for kayaking or canoeing. We're often visited by chipmunks, ducks, loons, wild turkeys, herons, and an occasional bald eagle flying overhead.
