About this property
Waterfront 1 bedroom and loft cottage with small private pier on Garrett Bay
Walk out your front door (or sit inside) and enjoy views of Garrett Bay. Death's Door Bluff is to your left and Washington Island to your right. Your own small pier is directly in front of your own private retreat. First floor one bedroom/one bathroom with steps to a loft that has another sleeping area. There is outdoor sitting and viewing space both by the house and down on the pier. Boat tie ups on the pier for docking your day fishing/recreational boat (no overnight docking available). The cottage has a well equipped kitchen (refridgerator, range, toaster oven, coffee maker, electric skillet and full size webber grill) and all the amenities for a quick vacation away from life (towels, beach towels, beach chairs, cooler, linens, paper products and soaps/shampoo). Pelicans fly in over the bay, fishing off the dock is best on the bay for bass, views cannot be beat. Gills Rock and ferries to Washington Island and the Shoreline restaurant are a mile around the bluff. Ellison Bay with restaurants, coffee shops and a well-stocked "Pioneer Store" is a short two miles away. Come enjoy one of the most beautiful bays in Door County!

Charming, private and quaint property nestled in the quiet Garrett Bay area. It felt like home the moment we walked in and booked two additional dates.
A totally charming cabin with a rare beach access with its own dock! It is a magical location, and the furnishings were eclectic and comfortable. The host lives nearby and was very friendly and responsive to any questions or concerns. It is the perfect combination of peaceful, out-of-the-way seclusion yet just minutes away from Sister Bay, the County's most cosmopolitan village.
Cute little cottage tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the busier Door County areas. Perfect for a quick get-away. Owner is very responsive.

They should have paid us to stay there!
1. No real air conditioning. It was very hot when we arrived. It was advertised as having air conditioning but all it had was a room cooler up stairs.
2. Bugs and spiders. My husband woke up the next morning with one on his forehead. They were everywhere. On the kitchen counter and all over the floor, bathroom, shower and toilet. The sewage was very strange. Had to push a button on a pump to make it drain. Shower backs up. No washer as advertised. We couldn’t wait to move out the next morning.
Lovely location and host. Beautiful views. Opportunity to use their kayaks on Lake Michigan but check to make sure equipment has plugs so you don't take on water.
Enjoyed the view, fishing, and the location.
Recommend upgrading furniture and decor as it is dated and/worn.
Pls identify or mark kayaks that are noted in the description so they can be used without disturbing others.
My family of 3 (and our pup) had a wonderful time at this cottage. The access to the water and its location were awesome. Upon entering the cottage, the clean smell of bleach and disinfectant made me feel that great care was taken to make sure it was ready for us. Jen was a great host! I'd love to rent from her again in the future!
We absolutely loved our stay. Property was nicely maintained, the area was extremely dog friendly and it was so relaxing. Being right on the
Lake was perfection!
Very nice. Quiet neighborhood lovely view of the bay. Jen is a great host. My companion stated that the only thing he could find disappointing was that the furniture could use some up grading. The shower that I thought might be a problem was easy to figure out.
Cute little place with a great view, within a short drive of some awesome hiking trails. A fun experience for us and the pup. Would definitely recommend!
We enjoyed the waterfront and peaceful location. The host was helpful, accommodating and very available. We had dogs with us and they were quite comfortable, too! We had a nice time!
Great property on the bay. Thanks for a nice stay!

It isn't all about the beautiful view.
Let me start this review by stating that we have stayed at a few rentals in Door County and elsewhere over the years so we are not new to this. Based on the location, amenities, reviews and pictures we (4 adults) rented this cottage for 3 nights. Temps were in mid-80's when we arrived late afternoon, unfortunately the cottage was stuffy and like a sauna. We found the "a/c" standing unit upstairs in loft area and turned it on. Found a standing tower fan in lower bedroom, turned it on, closing all windows. Went out to eat with the hopes that it would be much cooler when we got back at 10:30/11:00pm. Not the case. Too hot for sleeping in the loft area so young couple slept on a broken futon in living room. Texted Jen in the morning after we found out the "a/c" wasn't even vented to the outside! Why was the exhaust hose duct taped to the wall??? The bathroom is a whole other issue. Yes, a pump issue was mentioned in reviews but we had no idea that it would have to be used frequently when showering. Very inconvenient. As mentioned in reviews the place is cute but needs some cleaning touch ups. This is a beautiful spot, the view is as you would want on the water in Door but the view isn't everything. We've never left a bad review but it was such a disappointment regarding our comfort level that we felt it had to be stated.
VRBO pictures did not do the property justice. Much more roomy than pictures show. Nicely furnished but needs upkeep for the money spent. Floor boards upstairs are rotting and have holes. Refrigerator froze items. Bin in refrigerator was low and opened from the bottom...hard to access. Knives provided were not sharp. TV is much too small and programming was not free. Hot water in the kitchen was not always available. Lighting could have been brighter. Couldn't light the outdoor grill.
The place was airy and had lots of natural light. Good view of the water. Nice yard. Beds were comfortable. Linens were clean and soft. Communication with the owner was excellent!!
Great location...why 4 stars and Not 5??...luck of the draw but we got the week when the main house was having major landscaping done(noisy and workers -not very private)...would of been nice to experience this setting without the commotion...

I've enjoyed Garrett Bay all my life (I grew up three houses down from the Garrett Bay Rest). Thankful to have this property in one of my favorite places on earth to share with my family and others. It is one of the most beautiful places I know.
