About this property

Relax at the Lake Side Retreat

Lake Side Retreat is a beautiful and well appointed cabin on Lake Buckhorn. Perfectly located between Ellijay and Blue Ridge.

This wonderful home has 3 levels. Main level contains Bedroom 1, guest bath, fully equipped kitchen, dining and living room with wood burning fire place. The upper level has the master suite/bath with private deck and the loft area with a trundle day bed. Head down below the main level via the exterior steps and you find the lower family room which contains a sofa with a coffee table and seating. This room contains a large smart tv and a mix of board games.

The home has brand new smart TV’s in each bedroom, living area and family room. This allows you to login to your favorite Apps and/or accounts for your viewing pleasure.

But why watch the TV when you can sit by the lake, read a book, go for a paddle, fish for bass and walk the neighborhood trails.
We offer a canoe and a stand up paddle board for your use.

Then head out to
explore the nearby towns for the festivals, wineries and orchards.
Return home to relax in the LakeSide Retreat and soak under the stars in the hot tub.

If adventure seeking is your thing... we have plenty of options. From tubing the nearby rivers, hiking the numerous trails, mountain biking, road cycling, motorcycling, fishing and hiking.

If you are looking for that perfect place to relax, enjoy and play.....you found it!

**Special Notes:
1. The home has 3 levels with exterior decks/patios. This home requires climbing interior stairs as well as exterior steps to access the hot tub area and lake side.
2. Your are in a natural wooded location with the potential of wild animal interactions (deer, turkey, black bear...)
3. The exterior surroundings are dark at night. There are some exterior landscape lights to help light up some of the areas.
4. For extended stays over 5nights please inquire about special garbage and/or cleaning details. Please inquire if this pertains to your reservation.

A-MAAAZZ-INGGGG!!!Mike was such an awesome host. The cabin is just adorable and the lake is spectacular. Easy drive to Elijay for lunch or activities. Hot tub was great, for pit was great. I caught a few bass on the lake. We will be back for sure!Thank you Mike for a wonderful weekend!

Perfect weekend getaway!

Location was quiet, yet not too remote, and the house was inviting and spacious. We enjoyed the views of the small lake and the house had everything we needed. We will definitely be visiting again in the spring when we can enjoy the canoe and fishing.

Perfect Summer Getaway

My husband and I stayed here with our two young kids and it was perfect. We enjoyed all of the outdoor amenities and the location. The cabin was fully stocked with everything we needed and was very clean.

The Best Thanksgiving

We had an incredible time at this beautiful cabin. It had everything and more. The beds were comfortable, the showers had good water pressure, the heat in the spa was already on waiting for our arrival! Everything was perfect We would definitely rent this home again, it was perfect for our family.

Spring Break Getaway from Florida

Exactly what we were looking for with 2 nature-loving kids on their spring break! Beautiful location on a lake, immaculate home and property, short drive to downtown Blue Ridge and plenty of outdoor activities and hiking nearby! We recommend Amicalola Falls for hiking and the Blue Ridge Train, especially if you have kids. The host was quick and helpful with his communication and extremely friendly and welcoming! Amazing cabin stay!

I loved everything about my stay at this cabin! It was very clean and well appointed with all the essentials for a comfortable stay. There are several comfortable options for hanging out and relaxing ranging from cozy rooms to outdoor porches to an outside sitting area overlooking the water. I would love to return in warmer seasons to enjoy the outside area more! The location was convenient to downtown Ellijay and all the activities I wanted to do. Would definitely return!

Well- stocked/ Great location

Great location for winter break! Coming from Atlanta we placed a grocery pickup at the Walmart Ellijay which was an easy 20 min ride on to the house. The house is well stocked with necessities (toilet paper, paper towels, dishwashing liquid, laundry supplies, cooking needs, etc). Some listings only provide “starter packs” of items but the owner is quite generous and truly thought of everything. The interior is the perfect set up for a family of four and is quite cozy. We enjoyed the lake for fishing and it was a nice area for dogs . As clearly listed this house isn’t for those with mobility issues. You have to take exterior steps to the hot tub, fire pit, and 3rd level room (no bathrooms). Overall we were really pleased with the property, location, ease of communication, and amenities. I would definitely recommend.

Perfectly peaceful place

This property was great! The interior was clean and well stocked with linens and cooking utensils, and the size was perfect for 4 adults (two couples); it could easily have also fit 1-2 children (assuming they were old enough to sleep in a loft space). You’re going to need to be able to do stairs to get to and around the property. The neighborhood is very chill and quiet, but it’s still only 20-30 minutes from Ellijay proper or Blue Ridge (including restaurants and grocery stores). This was a wonderful place for a quiet gathering of close friends, and we would absolutely come back to the cabin.

Favorite Place to stay in the North Georgia Mountains!!

This is our second visit to the Lake Side Retreat and it will not be our last! The cabin is located near Cherry Log which is halfway between Blue Ridge and Ellijay, which allows visitors to enjoy both cities. The cabin itself is filled with quality furnishings and has a beautiful picture window that looks over the small lake. I am able to spread out my art supplies on the large table as I plan and vision for my art and contemplation classes that I offer. Since the cabin has an upstairs, my husband can camp out upstairs and give me the space I need to work. Although the weather did not allow us the opportunity to enjoy the outside much, the cabin is well appointed with a canoe, fire pit and hot tub. A great host and wonderful location and cabin!

A Perfect Lakefront Getaway for the Whole Family (Dog included)

We had such a great time at the Lake Side Retreat. My wife, our 17-year-old son, and our golden doodle all really enjoyed it. The cabin was super cozy and had everything we needed—and more. It’s tucked away in a quiet spot right on the lake, and the setting couldn’t be more peaceful.We loved spending time outside—paddling around the lake, fishing a bit, and walking the local trails. The neighbors were friendly, and it just felt like a great place to relax and unwind. The hot tub at night under the stars was a favorite for sure.Inside, everything was clean and comfortable. The smart TVs in every room were nice for movie nights, but honestly, we barely used them—we were too busy enjoying the outdoors and the calm of the area.Couldn’t have asked for a better spot. Great location between Blue Ridge and Ellijay, and an amazing home to come back to at the end of each day. We’d love to come back again sometime.

The house was just ok, it felt old and a bit dark inside. They definitely need new living room furniture. The pillows on the couch were pretty gross. The lake outside was more of a retention pond than a lake and definitely not suitable for swimming, so that was a bit of a bummer. The host is not personable at all! Definitely made the state uncomfortable.

Peaceful Spot on the Lake

The home was exactly as described. The area down by the lake was beautiful and incredibly peaceful. The cabin is cute and well appointed. You do park across the road and up a hill. The hot tub cover is not necessarily easy to get off and on and there are a lot of steps to get down to it but that was listed in the description. You definitely should use a flashlight as not every section of the stairs is well lit at night. Also there are no lights around the hot tub and firepit areas so it’s a bit tricky in the dark. The neighborhood trails were nice and you are fifteen minutes from dining options. Cabin was clean and had most of the items you might need. I do wish you could see the tv from the couch in the main room as we wanted to watch a late night movie but we didn’t want to have to go outside and down to the lower level. Overall we had a great time!
