Very clean, great location, comfortable bed, excellent host communication. May want to mention in listing that stairs are steep and driveway is very narrow. I think an older person would have difficulty with steps.

We were in town for a wedding and the house was perfectly located to everywhere we needed to go!I specifically wanted to call out how EXTREMELY comfortable the beds were. As the “single mom” traveling with son and DIL - I opted for the twin bed and gave them them the upstairs room. I have noticed in past experiences that VRBO owners sometimes skip the quality and comfort of twin beds mistakenly thinking they are for “Kids” but this is not always the case! I was so pleasantly surprised by how comfortable the twin beds where was and got an amazing and much needed nights sleep after dancing all night and before my 5 hour drive back home! In addition - it was less expensive than getting 2 hotel rooms for 2 nights AND we were able to save expenses by bringing groceries and preparing a couple of meals there instead of eating out EVERY meal. Plus having a place we could just sit and casually visit in the living room and play a couple of card games in the dining room table is always a bonus for family time!Could not recommend this house more!!!!

New Bern Getaway

The house was charming! An older home, remodeled with the conveniences of modern life, yet keeping touches of the past. The home was absolutely immaculate, with many necessities supplied. We would definitely stay here again!

Met our needs with convenient location

Property was fine. Plenty of room. Parking is tight. Pots and pans are lacking.

From the owner: "Hi Scott, thank you for sharing your feedback about your stay. We’re glad the property met your needs and that you found the location convenient and the space ample. Regarding your comment on the pots and pans, we want to clarify that none are missing. However, after previous guests checked out, we did need to reorganize the kitchen, as some items had been put back in random places. We’ll double-check to ensure everything is easy to locate for future guests.Thank you again for letting us know about your visit."

AWESOME Home!!

The home was very lovely and comfy, just a perfect stay!! Very clean, beds were comfortable, kitchen fully stocked (we cooked Christmas dinner!). The atmosphere was very homey and everything was tastefully decorated. The extras they had for us was very thoughtful.Such a wonderful location, very convenient to everything, and the neighborhood was beautiful. We felt very secure and safe during our stay, and Jon & Megan were superb hosts & very delightful to communicate with! We have stayed at other vacay rental homes and find this to be one of the top homes we’ve had the great pleasure to stay in! I would highly recommend this home to anyone considering staying here

December 5 2019

Property was in updated condition with modern amenities and old feel charm. About a 5-10 minute walk to DT New Bern and the pier. Be prepared no local tv channels to watch news but able to stream Netflix, Amazon, etc. Easy to book online through VRBO and Evolve and quick turn around on emails/check in. Although not as close to the water as we’d like, it was still a quiet and old town feel vibe,

Historic New Bern

The house was lovely. The bedding and linens were very nice. Some minor conveniences could be added such as more towel hooks in the bathrooms and some type of shelving in the powder room for Products, a large frying pan.Other things that may need some attention are the powder room sink is not attached to the wall which poses a safety issue. Also of a safety concern is the inability to unlock/use the front door in case of fire. The blinds could use a cleaning and the yard could use some attention. All that said, we would definitely stay here again.

Great communication with property. Very clean, unique remodel of a home to have a rental and owner space together. Did not like that the master bedroom has no lock on the door and that the door upstairs leading to oqner’s part of the house can not be locked from renters side.

Below average

The carpet in the master bedroom was badly soiled and extremely poor condition. The exterior looks like an abandoned home. This property should not be rented in this condition.

Cute historic house walking distance from downtown area

We enjoyed our stay primarily for the cleanliness and location. It is across from a cemetery, but that didn’t bother us. Quiet neighbors, my husband said. But we loved the covered side porch and the comfy bed. Only down sides were the bathroom was very small, especially the shower, and the floors are pretty uneven, which would be a challenge for older guests (including the steep and slippery stairs up to the primary bedroom). Also, it appears that the owners suite is located just down the hall from the guest room. Luckily they weren’t home during our visit, but we had the impression that their space was more separated based on the listing.

Advertised price per night was actually double after fees and cleaning. Guest is expected to wash all dishes, clean the house for the next guest, strip the beds and towels and take the garbage cans to the curb. Ridiculous. Killed 2 roaches in the living room and the house is loud at night with the creaking and settling.

Hi Rudy, the right vacation home is everything, and we're disappointed if this wasn't the one for you. We followed up with the homeowner after reading your feedback, and they wanted to share the following: - We use professional photography so the features you see on the listing are as advertised, including the shower. - The listing also states that the home has a flat-screen Smart TV with Roku. We encourage guests to thoroughly review the listing before booking to ensure they find the perfect vacation home for their needs. - Additionally, the cleaner came to the property to help with the TV and find the remote, which was on the coffee table. The owners do all they can to make the best possible stay, and we look forward to this property hosting many satisfied guests!

Adequate but not special.

The property doesn't match the picture. The outside needs to be relandscaped. It currently makes the house dark inside being so overgrown. The inside of the house was acceptable except for the shower. The shower on my 42 ft sailboat was much larger or compared to the shower on a typical cruise ship this is much smaller. We had problems with the TV. It turns out the house does not have cable TV, just roku TV. There are no instructions telling you this or explaining it. We enjoyed our stay in New Bern but the accommodations could have been better.

Great House, Issues Need Addressing

Safety Prob #1 - The silverware drawer almost fell on the floor and my feet the first time I opened it. The slide was glued to the bottom of the drawer and had broken. That is a poor design for a heavy drawer and something different is needed. Safety Prob #2 - The pedestal sink in the half bath on the ground floor is not attached to the wall, even though there are holes to do so, and rocks unexpectedly if leaned on.It is misleading to advertise this unit as a two-bedroom. Just putting two twin beds in a room doesn't make it a bedroom and no realtor would agree. Probably fine for two kids, but not unrelated adults. The bedroom upstairs is bright at 6:30 am. There should be a blackout curtain over the window behind the headboard like all the other windows in the room. The curtains in the second bedroom are inadequate to sleep past sunrise. The bath upstairs needs more counter space. The corner shelving is helpful, but adding at least one shelf above the toilet tank would improve things. A towel bar or hook next to the shower (or a bar under the window?).The kitchen needs a light over the sink.Neither the up or down dehumidifiers made it through the night without filling up and the "full" alarm going off. Placing the dehumidifiers in the doorway with the hot air blowing into the next room instead of the bedroom helped a little. They need to be emptied as often as every 6 hours. AC did not keep up during the middle of the day.
Upstairs bedroom with no curtain on window over headboard.
Upstairs bath in need of more shelving.

From the owner: "Hi Robert, We truly appreciate constructive feedback. Since the stay, both air conditioners have been serviced, and a window unit was added to the main bedroom to help with this record-breaking summer heat; a challenge many homes in New Bern have faced. We’ve also repaired the downstairs bathroom sink and fixed the kitchen drawer. We are glad you liked the home and hope you made time to enjoy your visit."
