In the heart of the Texas Hill Country and the Fredericksburg wine country, in a stunning setting just feet from the Pedernales River, is this dog-friendly, modern Texas home surrounded by acres of shady oak and pecan trees, deer and abundant wildlife, and country serenity. Whether you are looking for a getaway with someone special or want to gather with friends or family, there is no other place in the Hill Country that can match the riverside beauty and the unique wine country location of this luxury vacation rental.
Even with the charming German town of Fredericksburg just an eight-minute drive away you may never want to leave this incredible four-bedroom, three-bath, two-story Texas paradise. Each bedroom has a king-size bed and a breathtaking view of the river or the grounds, and there is a bunk room with adult-friendly bunk beds and upscale mattresses that sleeps six. Two more guests can sleep in two rollaway beds downstairs. This home is truly stunning with a white stone exterior, 20-foot vaulted ceilings in the main living area, tile floors, and unique Texas decor.
If you decide to venture out, within four miles of the gate you’ll find 17 wineries, Altstadt Brewery, the Wild Seed Farm, and famous Luckenbach where you can drink beer under the oak trees, western dance, and listen to the music. The main street in Fredericksburg is just eight minutes away, where you’ll discover incredible shops, museums, live music, and food from barbecue to steaks to cosmopolitan dining. There's also ample wine tasting opportunities and a micro brewery. If you want to take short day trips, you can hike at Enchanted Rock State Park, visit the Bat Tunnel State Park, follow the river five miles to LBJ National Park, or visit Austin or San Antonio each just an hour away.
After a thrilling day you can grab a glass of your favorite wine and relax on one of the covered patios to listen to the sounds of the river and watch the sky change colors. Bring binoculars, since you're sure to see an abundance of diverse wildlife that lives on the property, including deer, antelope, wading birds, hawks, turkeys, and much more.
If you decide not to enjoy dinner out, you can prepare your own in the well-equipped gourmet kitchen with ample granite counters and a separate dining area. Stainless steel major appliances are accompanied by a dishwasher, microwave, and even smaller appliances like blender, toaster, and slow cooker. Caffeine lovers, rejoice - there are four different ways to brew coffee! For all you chefs out there just bring your own ingredients and everything from five-course meals to plates of appetizers are easily prepared. There is a large open fire pit overlooking the river where steaks, chicken or burgers can be cooked, and also a portable propane grill.
After dinner, you’ll have trouble deciding whether to return to the patio to listen to the night sounds of the river, or go inside to enjoy music or watch a movie on one of the three televisions with satellite. You'll also have WiFi and a DVD library. And don’t stay up too late, since there is nothing better than coffee at sunrise watching wildlife on a Texas river.
The home is dog-friendly (with a 25-pound weight limit and nightly pet fee) and welcomes children.
The River House is not just a place to stay, it is truly an experience. Your special someone, family, or friends will count the days until they can come back and do it all over again.
THINGS TO KNOW
We’re excited to inform you that this unit utilizes a comfortable style of bed-making known as Triple Sheeting. Triple Sheeting is proven to be more hygienic and is used by five-star hotels around the world. It consists of a fitted sheet, a flat sheet, a blanket, and finally a decorative top sheet. Due to this change, the pictures for this home may not accurately represent the bedding that will appear during your stay. This has not affected any other amenities or the amount of beds available.
Due to the Hill Country location of our rentals, you may encounter situations with wildlife/pests. Please be aware of your surroundings, take caution while driving at night and supervise your children at all times while outdoors. In addition, all properties do utilize pest control maintenance on a regular basis, BUT this does not guarantee pests/bugs/critters will not be visible.
If you are bringing a dog on your trip, the pet fee is already included in your quote when selecting ‘Yes’ to pets. No more dogs are allowed.
