About this property
Birchfield Farmstay - The Dome
The Dome is a unique addition to Birchfield Farmstay. A clay-rendered strawbale house designed and built by Andy, the owner, with a completely round living room/kitchen/dining room area. The Dome's design is as impressive as its beautiful and peaceful surrounds. The strawbale Dome is warm in Winter and cool in Summer, so is comfortable all year round. This is an eco-friendly and energy efficient house.
Nestled at the edge of a forest on a 90 acre property, 15 kilometres south of Margaret River town, the Dome offers the perfect environment for families to congregate at meal times with an easy flow living/dining and entertainment space. With space for a reading couch, comfy sofa in front of the TV and fireplace and open kitchen, the whole family can co-exist in the same space, while having their own areas.
There are two bedrooms. The master bedroom features a queen bed with en-suite and private verandah overlooking the forest. The second bedroom features two single beds, that can be joined to form a king, plus two bunk beds that have been designed specifically for the Dome, ideal for kids. A sofa bed in the lounge/living area can sleep another 2 adults.
There is a BBQ and outdoor eating area with shade sail.
Birchfield Farmstay is home to 3 donkeys, 3 alpacas, peacocks, guinea fowl and ducks, guinea pigs and 2 pigs; Patricia and Tea Cup. Feel free to make yourself at home by roaming the farm, feeding the friendly animals or meandering through the natural forests on the property. Relax with a book in one of the secluded forest hammocks in Summer or curl up on the couch with a good book in front of the roaring fireplace in Winter.
There is Satellite TV and a surround sound music system and WiFi is also available.
Well-behaved dogs can be accommodated on request. Please provide details when booking.

We had a great time at the Dome, it was lovely and cozy, comfortable and had all the essentials. Our kids absolutely loved the animals and Andy was very welcoming, we hope to be back soon!
Cosy & Comfortable Country stayWe had a fabulous stay at the Dome. Cosy & warm with the wood heater - even though we had some stormy weather. Andy was a great host. Good location close to Witchcliffe & Margaret River.
We enjoyed Staying at The Dome and loved feeding and patting the donkeys. The Dome was comfortable and very secluded which meant it was quiet and peaceful.
A lovely tranquil spot surrounded by nature and friendly farm animals helping to make you feel welcome. Bird life is abundant and entertaining. The straw bale house a perfect retreat.

Lovely peaceful stay in the eco friendly straw bale “Dome” house. We really enjoyed our stay at this comfortable quirky cottage in the countryside. We loved watching the blue wrens and other birds . We enjoyed feeding carrots to the donkeys and seeing the alpacas and other animals. A great place to stay. Close to Witchcliffe and to Margaret River.

In need of a very good clean. Someone had clearly washed a dog in one of the showers. The smell was awful. Ground in dirt. Everthing had to be washed before i could use any of the dishes.
Andy serves as an exceptionally efficient host. During our stay at the Dome, the spacious and comfortable cool environment we noticed even outside was super hot weather. The place is fully utilised, offering versatility idea for large families seeking a countryside retreat or a convenient weekend gateway just a short drive from Perth. Andy's helpful direction and information was useful.
Me and my partner came down for a nice little getaway while I have time off work, the farm stay is a bit remote and a bit difficult to find if you don’t know the area and if you go down the wrong road in the wrong kind of car. The place was extremely quiet and remote with only the sounds of the animals on the property and nature. close to the Caves which are absolutely breathtaking, with the views and stairs. if you’re interested in some exploring and some adventure would recommend taking the short 15 mins drive to the caves. The place was perfect for me and my partner with a little fire above the TV to keep the place warm, with a nice size kitchen as well. I would definitely recommend to come here if your planning on coming down to south.

Very disappointed
Outside dirty and spider city. Cobwebs on doors and windows. Very old outside seating. Couldn’t sit on it as very rough. Would pull threads in clothing. Bbq area very dirty. Very Old towels for us but friends were ok. 2/3 of lounge chairs old and you sink into them. Dirty cushions from food and spills on the chairs. Pots and pans black. We were given some more when I asked but none of them went together and no saucepan base given. Very disappointed and not value for money.
A very peaceful location but at the same time in easy reach of the many attractions offered by the Margaret River district.
The accommodation was very comfortable and the wood fire kept it cosy in the cool weather we experienced. Solar water heating worked perfectly, as did all the other equipment. We received a warm welcome from Andy, who made sure everything was explained to us.
Staying at Birchfield Farmstay was a fantastic experience. We stayed at the Dome which was such a unique building and fun place to
stay in, with a cozy warm fire place, and which was the surrounded by great views of the property. Andy was a really friendly and great host and the family and I loved feeding the farm animals.
We spent 8 nights in this little slice of heaven and loved the peace, the bush walks, the donkeys and the Dome. It's just the right distance off the track. Andy was only concerned that everything was good and Justine a pleasure to deal with when booking. Thank you both. Highly recommended.
