Perched on a hill top with 5 private acres in Yucca Valley, CA, our house is surrounded by ancient oaks, junipers, yuccas and Joshua trees, giving you 365 degree views of the entire high desert and starry sky at night. Its close to Pappy & Harriets, Pioneertown if you’re in the mood for live music, while also an ideal quiet retreat for writers, musicians and the creative mind. A drive to the Joshua Tree National Park is 15 minutes away.
The retreat is a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom house sleeping 2-6. The Master Bedroom has a NEW King size bed, high thread-count linens, with a stunning view overlooking the valley. The Second bedroom has a NEW Queen bed and enjoys a quiet view of our private outdoor area. Additional guests may sleep on the day bed and comfy sofa in the TV lounge, while we’ve also provided an air mattress with extra linens and blankets located in the master hall closet.
We have a whole cupboard of games for trivia and strategy enthusiasts. And drawers full of crafts. Families with children and kids welcome.
The kitchen is modernized with a stainless refrigerator, dishwasher, small stainless wine fridge, fully stocked with utensils, cutlery, etc, and ample space for meal preparation. Our indoor and outdoor dining tables seat 6 plus.
There is a grand piano next to the TV lounge and antique furniture we’ve carefully chosen throughout which we feel adds a personal and unique touch to our home.
A BBQ grill sits next to the outdoor dining patio for meals under the stars, while the jacuzzi lies not too far away, but unobstructed from clear sunset and night sky views. There is a washer and dryer for those planning longer stays, central heat and AC keep things comfortable all year round and WiFi throughout. The TV is a smart TV, (we do not have cable) with a DVD player and (mostly childrens) DVDs for entertainment.
There is also a surveillance camera at the entry of the home for safety.
Guest access Guests will have access to our 5 beautiful acres of private land, ample paved parking and a covered carport, with access to our entire home.
There is a trampoline on the property. Please use at your own risk. By booking the property, you release the owners of any injury and liability associated with the trampoline use.

We had a great time for NYE. Myself, my wife and our friends came for a few days to celebrate the new year. The house is excellent, the views are unreal, and the host is helpful and responsive.
This is a wonderful place to stay when visiting Joshua Tree! The hot tub helped us recover from our hikes and the beds were incredibly comfortable. We appreciated the games and the well appointed kitchen too. Our family highly recommends this property and hopes to return someday.

Thank you for the lovely comments! Lisa is welcome back anytime. They treated my house as their own and were very respectful
Guests. Please come back anytime!
The house is uniquely perched on top of a hill, providing specular mountain views. The house and particularly the kitchen was well equipped. The French country interior was inviting and furniture was comfy.
Perfect location for the views. The house sits on a hill and has great views from all four sides of the property. We liked that the back yard had three separate sitting areas depending on how much sun you wanted, from none to full. It was very clean and supplied with everything we needed. Very nice hot tub.
Excellent location. Very rural with zero traffic noise. Comfortable lived in home with large updated kitchen and baths. Fenced in yard perfect for our two Goldens. Very clean and well cared for home.
We love the place’s unique soul, it made to welcome visitors and make them feel home even if they came faraway, the sunrises and sunsets are beautiful, and enhance the garden, we enjoyed the BBQ, the jacuzzi, and old piano, it have all commodities, i love the shampoos and conditioners, definitely it is a place to return!
A Serene Desert EscapeOur stay at this secluded desert retreat was nothing short of magical. From the moment we arrived, we felt completely removed from the hustle of Las Vegas and immersed in tranquility. The property is beautifully integrated into the landscape—private, peaceful, and surrounded by stunning desert views, especially at sunset. The home itself is warm, inviting, and full of charm. Every detail—from the natural landscaping to the cozy interior—reflects a thoughtful touch. We spent our days exploring the area and our evenings unwinding under the stars. Our dog, loved roaming the property and relaxing with us on the porch. This was the perfect place to disconnect, recharge, and enjoy quality time as a family. We’re so grateful for the experience and can’t wait to return. Highly recommended to anyone looking for a quiet, soul-soothing getaway.

Property Needs Some Attention
The property was very convenient for the plans we made for our stay. But, there were concerns upon arriving. Check in instructions were to notify the host 2 hours prior to arrival so the alarm could be turned off. After 3 attempts to contact, we finally heard from the host. The property is on an unpaved road--something I did not see in the writeup. It would be good to know as some travelers prefer not to drive on unpaved roads. The house number sign was on the ground/missing some of the numbers. An abandoned car and broken AC unit were in the front yard along with a pop up camper that had seen much better days. Not the first impression we were expecting. While I appreciate French Country/Shabby Chic design, I didn't expect to see stained, torn and worn out furniture. There were a few cleanliness issues (cobwebs, refrigerator water/ice dispenser needed a good cleaning). Cabinet doors needed to be adjusted. Many dishes were chipped...a concern for harboring bacteria. The hairdryer in the master bathroom should be replaced and a handheld shower wand addition would make showering much easier as the shower head is just too low. There were some things that we very much enjoyed--the backyard seating/view was fantastic and we enjoyed the hot tub! The convenience of a washer/dryer on the property was greatly appreciated. The beds were VERY comfortable and the robes for both bedrooms was a nice touch. We made the best of our stay, but doubt we would stay here again.

Thx for your feedback. We will address these concerns. Always good to hear as we are not on site nearly enough these days.

It was the perfect spot for our weekend. The house is magnificent. The amount of thought that went into the decor and creature comforts was exceptional. The house was clean. The hot tub delightful. Everything was great
Our stay was very relaxing. Exactly what we needed. The house was clean, well appointed and thoughtfully decorated. Not much to do in Yucca Valley but we did drive to other locations to see other areas with no issues. I recommend this property.
In a good way, this house is a throwback to the 60s, with all the charm and quirkiness that entails. Comfortable with lots of little cozy sitting areas, the house is filled with interesting books, nostalgic artwork and even a basket of musical instruments to accompany the piano. The beds are super comfortable with very fine, crisp linens and the jacuzzi is clean and perfectly bubbly. Great rental house!
The second you walk through the door, it's obvious that this is a much loved home and not a standard rental. The owners have fantastic taste and the whole property oozes relaxation. We really loved our stay here and will definitely be back.
Our family loved staying in this beautifully appointed home. It has a very special feel and every comfort you could possibly ask for. We didn't want to leave! Highly recommend! Thank you to our wonderful hosts.
We absolutely loved our stay at this relaxing desert oasis. It feels like a home from the minute you walk in, has beautiful and eclectic design and is loaded with all the things you could need. The owner Laurie was an amazing communicator and very responsive. I would not hesitate to stay here again and will also be recommending it to all my friends going west.
This house is so beautiful and comfortable it’s hard to leave! We loved watching the roadrunners, jackrabbits and quail from patios all around the house. It’s a short drive to great hikes and Joshua Tree. Park
We deeply enjoyed staying at this lovely home. We had everything we needed and more for a relaxing stay. The space is warm and inviting. The best part is the beauty of the yard and surroundings. We will stay here again!
We loved our stay here! The house is surrounded by dirt roads that lead up to a hill with great views of the valley. Perfect for hiking, running, biking right out the front door. Location is convenient, close to town and Joshua Tree National Park. Our dog had fun roaming around in the fenced back yard and we loved relaxing in the hot tub. The kitchen is well stocked and has everything you need to prepare a gourmet meal. Such a charming place!
We had a lovely thanksgiving in this stunning home. The kitchen was perfectly optimized to cook a big meal! The home was clean and warm and there was plenty to do at the property without even stepping out the front door. Definitely want to come back!
Wonderful interior, kitchen has every utensil needed to prepare a gourmet meal, and there was an unexpected array of spices available.
We needed some piece and quiet with a view, and that's exactly what we got.
We could not have been happier with this property.

Jasja was a terrific guest. So communicative and thoughtful. Love that they appreciated the home. Thx for booking and pls come
Again and again!!
A few nights in the desert, staying in a home-from-home was all we were hoping for when booking this property. After months of barely leaving the house, it was a tentative step into the outside world.
And, what glorious steps they were. The desert was warm and welcoming with velvet night skies and light breezes to help blow away the anxieties that have hung around since early spring..
The house was as advertised with plenty of space for our party of two adults and our pup, Bumper. The property would comfortably sleep 4 and still provide room for another one or two, at a push. It's also very dog friendly regarding layout and the fencing of the grounds.
There are a myriad of lovely touches to remind guests that this house is also a home and it has a feel of a place that is much loved for much of the time.
The area is rich in jack rabbits and adjacent is a small complex that welcomes guests on yoga retreats. The only audible noise, other than that emanating from the wildlife, came one night from the guests at the retreat chanting and cheering around an evening camp fire. After our isolation it was sound we welcomed.
The property host is responsive and accommodated a request related to check in that was much appreciated.
Highly recommended.

About the host
Hosted by Laurie Steichen
Fun loving couple who met in New Orleans Jazz Festival. Interior designer and musician melded this getaway from Los Angeles. We love to entertain, cook, and enjoy the outdoors with our daughter and two vocal dachshunds. The change of seasons, art and music that comes with the high desert lifestyle is what draws us most to our home away from home!
Why they chose this property
We love the quiet serenity and beauty of the desert and being close to Palm Springs and Joshua Tree is a huge bonus. The untouched, native pristine 5 private acres of desert landscape surrounding the house and its exclusive feel drew us to the property initially. Additionally, the warmth of the home gave us a special feeling we knew we wanted to call our own to entertain in with friends and family.
What makes this property unique
The hilltop home offers special, stunning views to surrounding mountains and high desert, with the peace and tranquility of a camping trip under the stars. A woodburning fireplace is charming in the entry room, while the skylights in the kitchen and guest bath, add a bright uniqueness to the space we absolutely love. The covered outdoor living and dining areas that share patio space with the jacuzzi, make it so easy unwind from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
