We came with another family for a quick weekend fall getaway. The weather was perfect and the outdoor location was beautiful. The house was in good condition and clean. Check in and checkout were straight forward and easy. Close to a lot of fun outdoor things to do.

We really enjoyed our stay at the cabins! Although check in was difficult at first as the one door lock wouldn’t open. When we contacted host they answered immediately and helped find resolution to problem, and said he was already in process of permanently addressing the issue. The cabins beds and rooms were nice and had ample room for people to stay. Although the place was quite dusty, our socks were black due to the dust on the floors. Bathrooms and kitchen were nicely cleaned and stocked with essentials. Property was beautiful and we really enjoyed the back deck next to the creek. All in all great stay, I would just suggest a deeper clean for guests to enjoy more so!

Overall all it was nice spending time what family Although it was not very clean. The guest house has a not so pleasant smell. The bathroom had urine around the base when we arrived. The kitchen needs a good scrubbing The floors doesn't even look like they were swept or mopped before arrival The silverware drawer was in need of cleaning Definitely a nice Place just needs some tender loving care Plus grass was not mowed. I get that it rained the week before but it was high. Hard to play Bocce They was plenty of wood for fires and beds were comfy

This is a great place to stay if your looking for a quiet and relaxing experience. The house is super clean and well kept, while smaller than it looks online, it still easily accomodated 8 adults. The setting is gorgeous, at the fork of 2 creeks however it does sit a little close to the road, closer than how it appears in the listing. All in all this was a fantastic place to stay and i would definitely stay there again!

Family getaway

It's the first vacation I've had where once we brought the food everything we needed was there. Plenty of activities and entertainment to keep us there for hours. We hardly heard to bring anything but our clothes and the food. Fantastic setup.

Family time

We had a good time, it was nice but needs a few updates, stove in kitchen, and towels were dingy looking. Beds were very comfortable, also the kids enjoyed the creek. Overall a very nice trip.

The stair case was a bit to difficult for some of us. We should have paid more attention to the fact that all bedrooms in the main cabin were upstairs . Very nice location. We had a good stay .

Very cool and unique property for a family getaway. Great kitchen, living area, and plentiful outside deck space. Love the setting of the creek in the back and the very large yard. Lots of supplies for cooking - pretty much everything you need. A few things to note so you are prepared: It is very close to the main road. Not an issue really but can be loud at night when a loud car/motorcycle flies down the road right next do your bedroom. The rooms aren't anything spectacular but a reasonable place to sleep. Just know you have to get up very tight spiral stairs for three of the bedrooms. It does get warm in the heat of summer upstairs as there is only a/c in one of the three bedrooms. The smaller guest cabin and game room have sleeping areas as well for those unable to use the stairs. The yard area definitely needs some attention, very overgrown and a lot of litter left around. There was a LOT of trash around the property, either from litterers on the main road or just stuff left behind outside.

Great place to stay to do a little fishing and hunting. Everything you need is there. Wifi limitations were a little frustrating but get off your phone for a few days.

Trouthouse Cabin

A very accommodating place - everything necessary for a stay is provided. Spiral staircase to bedrooms might present a problem for those with knee or hip issues. Trout stream behind cabin is perfect.

We're glad you enjoyed your stay and thanks for the positive review! One thing we'd like to clarify for other readers is that the guest cabin, which is included in every reservation, has a main floor bedroom and full bath, expressly for those who might have trouble with stairs.

Family Cabin Trip

It was our first family cabin trip and we loved the experience. The property was nice and spacious and fit the 9 of us there. We were 3 teens and 6 adults and were able to fit in the main cabin. We also checked out oil creek state park. Our only issue was the low heat when using the stove for cooking. 9/10 would recommend.

Lots of beds

This cabin can certainly sleep a lot of people. There are just a few things to consider. The grill was mostly rusted out, so didn’t heat well. The stove works but didn’t seem to get to high temperatures. Perhaps I am just used to gas?The oven works perfectly. There are plenty of pans and dishes, spices, even coffee and filters which was a surprise. The beds with the exception of the separate cabin (nice!) are upstairs, and the bathrooms are downstairs FYI.There is plenty of room to romp if you have kids, and a place for a fire and plenty of firewood. Overall very nice.

Thanksgiving

When we arrived there was a note on the oven that they are awaiting a part and it was unusable. We were there to celebrate Thanksgiving. We were never notified! We could have brought alternate means to cook the turkey. That was a big bad Ugh! Come on! Then the wifi went out while we were watching the Sabres game! They only have a limited time of wifi use a month and it was already used! Another big Ugh! There was no heat in the game room! Nice place but....Ugh!

We're very sorry about the unexpected unavailability of the oven. We had a part to be installed but it turned out to be the wrong part. I hope you were able to use the large gas grill to cook your turkey (I grill my turkey every year and prefer it that way). The satellite wi-fi is metered, as your welcome letter made clear, and it is specifically recommended in bold type not to stream video, as it uses the available bandwidth quickly. We have satellite TV for watching programs, although I recognize that not every game can be seen on the available channels. Unfortunately, your group messed around with the router box, which the note on the equipment expressly forbids, and it brought down the Wi-Fi completely. We always ask that guests contact me or the caretakers (our contact information is provided in multiple places) when something goes wrong. That allows us to try to fix problems when they're noticed, and it also is a courtesy to the next guests, because it usually is not possible to get a technician the same afternoon when our crew notices something is not working. In this case, the next guests had to wait a day before my IT person could come out to reconfigure the wi-fi. And I've just now learned about the heating problem in the game cabin (some guests don't use it, so our crew doesn't automatically think anything's amiss if the room is cold), so that will be dealt with today. We are very grateful that our guests normally are good communicators. Things sometimes go wrong or can't be figured out, and we move very quickly to resolve any problems when they occur. That's one reason we are able to maintain a 4.9 star rating in guest reviews. In light of your inconvenience, I've refunded $50 of your rental fee, and I've not withheld the $45 from your security deposit that it cost to fix the wi-fi. Best wishes for the holiday season.

Fishing getaway

Overall a very nice place to stay, especially if you want somewhere out of the way. The GOOD: very quiet, great beds, newer kitchen and bathrooms, lots of property to explore, open floor plan. The BAD: ice maker in freezer did not work, spiral staircase makes a LOT of noise and moves a lot when going up or down, mud in front yard makes it hard to go into house without getting shoes muddy, internet was not working (note left asking us to try and fix - really?), if you do not have AT&T cell phone service there is no cell coverage. Best part of the stay was meeting Ken Amon (2 driveways north on PA-428 on same side of street). We came for the fishing and tried both creeks, 2 Mile Lake and the Allegheny River, all with no luck. Ken has a pay lake and offered to let my family fish there. Bluegill (caught more than we could count), bass (largest was a 4#/20 inch large mouth) and catfish (largest was a 15#/30 inch channel cat) abound and some of the largest trout I have ever seen! Ken has an artesian well on his property for drinking water and can supply information on local areas of interest. Highly recommend stopping by during your visit.
Response from VrboOwner on 1 Apr, 2020
Thanks for reporting a few issues. After more than a year's use, it's time for the bolts on the custom spiral staircase to be re-tightened, and that will happen in September when the cabin isn't continuously occupied. Didn't realize ice-maker was broken (it was working for us a couple weeks ago), will get it fixed. Hughesnet's Safeway satellite was down for a few days, knocking out Internet for its customers across the country, now restored. We are out in the country, so provide VoIP phones for guests' use.. Also, in addition to AT&T, Republic, FreedomPop and any other VoIP/cellular provider will work on the property. We filled, graded and reseeded around the cabin this summer as part of our continuous improvement plan, but unfortunately, this has caused some temporary muddiness until the lawn fully comes in (should be fine by this fall). We are also planning this fall to install a boardwalk between the parking area and the cabins so it's easier for guests to transport luggage and keep their shoes dry after a rain. We appreciate our guests' comments and suggestions to help us make our property even nicer for future visitors.

These cabins are IN the woods. There is no Wi-fi for miles around, so prepare accordingly with offline maps. That said, if you're looking to disconnect and fish, this is the spot. Plenty of beds and space to spread out, a clean, stocked kitchen and bathrooms, and porches overlooking the water. Two stocked creeks are on either side, and there's a lake within five minutes. We went for the opening day of trout season, and spent alllll day catching fish. The neighbors were friendly and helped the kids find the best spots. We grilled and visited Fat Chad's for one dinner, which was delicious! It was a perfect trip, and we'll definitely be back!
