Our friends and family were all impressed with the beautifully restored house. The luxury of 3 separated sleeping areas with full bathrooms added to the quiet slumber and relaxation for us all. The central gathering areas of the kitchen and living room were comfortable and capable of holding large groups. We did not use the outdoor areas, because of the cooler temperatures in late November, but can imagine how lovely it would be to open up the house during the milder months and enjoy the courtyards. Claire and Francois were exceptional hosts, guaranteeing our comfort and peace.

It was a pleasure to receive Shirley and her family and friends in Regnié.
They were perfect hosts and we hope they will have the opportunity to come back during warmer seasons.

Outstanding, beautiful, peaceful. Clean and well appointed.
Clair and Francois greeted us upon arrival (they live across the lane) and gave us as tour of the property and explained all the little details. This property is a lovely rustic gem. It is renovate out buildings which have modern amenities while maintaining all the historic details. There is a photo album recording all the loving hardworking that went into this home.
We were a group of 10 adults. There was more than enough space for us. The villa is quite spread out. There are 2 outdoor spaces, one we used in morning and the other in the evening. The living room and kitchen are well equipped. 5 bedrooms in 3 different areas of the villa so we never felt crowded. And the cold cellar is very 'cool'. It was extremely clean abs well appointed.
Regnie-Durette is about 45min from Lyon. We had originally planned day trips to other communities (Anace, Aux-Baies) but this area is so lovely we just visited nearby villages (Cercie, Bellevile, Beaujeu, etc). Within a few minutes walk there is a patisserie, cafe (for coffee or beer/wine), caveau and a great restaurant. The villa is surrounded by vineyards. Amazing vistas! Lyon is about 45min away. We drove to metro station (Laurent Bonnevay) where parking is free with your metro ticket. Just 20min to old town from there.
Clair's son, Thomas, now manages the vineyard. He was friendly and accommodating. He gave us a tour of his vineyard and we sampled his wines in the caveau! The local wines are excellent!
I can't say enough about this property. We all loved it and Thomas was fantastic. It is rustic. We were there during a heat wave and it was hot. I would definitely visit this villa again.

What an enchanting place to stay, loved by 3 generations; the Middle Ages with modern conveniences.
Regnie Durette is a quiet village a day''s drive from Paris, 2 hours from the French Alps, an hour from France' s secret, the beautiful city of Lyon, and in the middle of the rolling Beaujolais countryside. The Rivier house is at the edge of the village on a large lot protected by ancient walls. The house dates from and feels like a house from the Middle Ages, with court yards, a wine cellar, many nooks and crannies, and thick walls, but with very modern conveniences due to an excellent renovation. The place is suitable to a large group (we were 4 couples and 4 children ranging in age from 3 to 65. The grandchildren thought they were in the movie Beauty and the Beast. You can have your group social activities in the large kitchen and living room, but the bedrooms are quiet and there are two outdoor courtyards. The village centre is a 5 minute walk away up a narrow street. The vineyards are a 5 minute walk from the front door. The Riviers are great hosts, and the villagers friendly, with many speaking some English if you need to. The house adjoins the River's excellent vineyards and winery. I can't imagine a better place to stay. Merci to the Riviers.
