Disappointed After Years of Great Stays
I've stayed at this cabin for four years in a row and have always appreciated the charm, the peaceful setting, and the unique touches—like the honor-system bakery out back, where I've always bought sweets late at night and paid online trusting and appreciating the experience.
Each year, I've written in the guest book, rereading my past entries as a way to reflect on the memories and how special this place has been to me.
That's why it was so disheartening to receive a call after my most recent stay, asking if I took the TV remote. I understand things get misplaced, but being contacted like that—especially over a cheap, easily replaceable remote—felt insulting. After years of being a respectful, paying guest, it was disappointing to feel like my integrity was being questioned.
This interaction left a sour taste after what had otherwise been a positive, long-term relationship with this place. As of now, I'm likely canceling my reservation for next year. I hope the owners reflect on how they treat long-term guests, because the magic of this place goes beyond the cabin—and it starts with respect.
I hope this was just a one-time miscommunication, but it's worth sharing for those who value not only comfort, but also how guests are treated.
