About this property

Deep Creek Hideaway with in walking distance of GSMNP

Location:
The Deep Creek Hideaway is a charming 2 story log cabin hidden in the quiet woods of the Great Smoky Mountains. It is located less than one mile from the Deep Creek entrance into the Great Smoky Mountains National Park where you will find great hiking trails, including 3 beautiful waterfalls, and during the Spring and Summer months, excellent tubing down the creek! This cabin is also conveniently located less than 10 minutes from downtown Bryson City where you can enjoy the local shops, restaurants, and breweries of this charming mountain town, or stop by and check out the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad train depot, all located in Bryson City. The Harrahs Casino, Oconaluftee River hiking trails & tubing, the popular Mingo & Soco waterfalls, and the Sequoyah National Golf Course are all located about 15 minutes away in Cherokee, NC. You can also reach the Almond Boat Dock on Fontana Lake for some great swimming, kayaking, paddle boarding, and canoeing options in about 20-25 minutes, Or you can experience the exhilaration of white-water rafting, zip lining, and other adventurous excursions out in the Nantahala Gorge located 30 minutes away.

Exterior :
Tucked away in the woods, this two story cabin, with a deck wrapping around 2 sides provides ample space to enjoy the outdoors. A set of steps takes you down from a gravel parking area to a gated deck. This is a very safe place for your pets to enjoy the fresh mountain air too. The entry to the cabin is along the side of the deck, and you may continue on to the front to the larger outdoor entertaining space. A gas grill provides ease of cooking meals together while spending time with nature. You can relax in a rocking chair while taking in the forest views, watching the hummingbirds at the feeder or the hawks in the nearby trees. Privately placed on the left side of the deck is a large inviting hot tub, perfect for unwinding in the massaging bubbles after a day of exploring the area.

Entry Level
Catch up on the latest news or sports on the flat screen TV in the living room or before you turn in for the night on the TV in the master bedroom. Rest, relax, listen to the rain on the metal roof, and enjoy yourself in Deep Creek Hideaway. The entry of the cabin brings you into the open space of the kitchen, dining, and living area. A full bath with tub is off the the side and a queen size bedroom is entered from the living room at the base of the stairs which leads you up to the master suite. This is a large space with cathedral ceilings. The kitchen is fully equipped and has beautiful black granite counter tops. A small dining table provides seating along with the bar stools at the kitchen island. The living room is cozy with a gas stove, and sleeper sofa for additional guest space. Your pets will love laying at your feet as you relax and watch a favorite DVD together or satellite TV. The front windows and doors to the deck bring all of the beautiful views into the cabin, staying in is as much of a treat as going out. The queen size bedroom on this level provides a comfortable quiet space to snuggle in at night. Plenty of room to settle in and unpack.

Upper Level:
Up a set of stairs and you will enter the master suite with an adjacent full bath. This is a restful space to lay your head on the soft pillows and drift off to dream at night. A second TV here offers a place to catch your favorite shows once you have snuggled in.

Good weekend
The cabin was very clean and welcoming. It's a great layout for a couple who just wanted to get away for the weekend. The jacuzzi was wonderful and the cabin was stocked with everything we needed. It's also relatively close to town so that was nice also. The road going up to the cabin is not paved but seems to be maintained. The only hiccup with our stay was the beds in the house. We tried both the downstairs and upstairs beds and they were low-quality mattresses that squeaked constantly. Also, the headboards would knock against the wall whenever you moved. If they could address this they would have a 5 star review from us.

Relaxing place to stay
We stayed off season during spring break. We didn’t see anyone except when driving in and out. We had snow while we were there, so we spent time enjoying the fireplace and hot tub. It was very clean and had everything that we needed. Things to know before renting: Follow their directions in the email. I know that the road is not the cabin owners responsibility, so I am not putting the condition of road on them. It is basically a home’s driveway turned into a neighborhood road. There are pieces of the road falling in. There are also places where you can’t pass another vehicle. The mattresses are really, really firm. The upstairs bed is squeaky and loud. Every time you roll over, you wake up from the noise. The head board is also loose or is too big for the bed. It rocks back and forth and hits the wall when you get in the bed or roll over. Loudest bed that I have ever slept in. I wish that I knew that they allow or allowed pets. I picked this cabin, because it said no pets in the description. I am allergic to dog dander. Once I got the check in email, I realized that they allow pets with a fee. When we got to the cabin, there was dog hair along the edges of the carpet, dog hair on the porch, and dog nose prints on the glass door. There were dog treats in the upstairs closet. It was not a deal breaker. However, other people with allergies should know that dogs have stayed in the cabin.
