Premier Charlottesville location and accommodations
Amazing property and even better location. Layout great for family with kids or large groups. Historic house with the expected charm but comfortable accommodations. Looking forward to staying here again next time we are in the area!
Amazing location at the center of the downtown mall. Property manager is highly responsive and helpful. This was our 3rd or 4th stay at the house and we will definitely come again!
This house has a great location downtown. It was built in the 1830s, so a lot of history. However, don't expect a modern home in the shell of an 1830s house. The size of the bathroom and kitchen, creaky wood floors, and scarcity of electrical outlets reflect a house nearly 200 years old.

We appreciate your feedback!. It really is a matter of flavor, most book our listing expecting and really appreciating the original 200 year old space as it has been purposely maintained with as much original woodwork and room sizes as to maintain the character and charm of the era it was built, While delivering as much ancillary modern amenities to allow a comfortable stay.
Very enjoyable rental. The house is large with great character. It is what you would expect from an old house, but in great shape. The only negative is one bathroom but you know that going in. The location can't be beat. The manager was also very responsive and helpful. I strongly recommend.
It was a charming old historical house that comes with quirks that you should expect. The beds were as comfortable as every one else says, the rooms were large, but only the two king bedrooms had AC which was hard for the other rooms. We did cook breakfast one morning and the dishes and cookware got the job done. It was the perfect location to walk downtown. Yes it only has one bathroom but 6 adults made that work pretty easily. Overall I loved the house and every creak and quirk

The house did not meet expectations.
House smelled like cats. Needed more basic amenities like a microwave, more trash cans and more outlets. One bathroom was difficult. Backyard had junk in it. Bed and linens were comfortable. Good location.

We did not realize a microwave, a trash can in every room and having more than 2 wall outlets per room were considered basic amenities, but we will certainly take that into consideration. The home is a 200 year old Historic Home in the historic court square of Charlottesville Virginia. We have attempted to maintain as much of the original character as possible The majority of our guests understand and appreciate the charm of the building. Never had a complaint about a cat smell, but again we will look into that.
We do however have a policy written for all guests to review upon arrival based upon a 100% Satisfaction Guarantee.
If a guest feels the home is not to their satisfaction upon arrival we will refund their money minus fees, and they are welcome to book elsewhere. Of coarse if a guest doesn't communicate at all with us and stays the entire time, we have to assume everything is 5 stars like the majority of our guests do.
We take a lot of pride in offering guests the chance to stay in a part of Charlottesville History and expect our guests to have respect and class.

Beautiful old house- significant issues
The location and charm of the house was amazing. However, the air conditioning/air flow was an issue and when the sink clogged we were unable to get support from the owner to address this beyond a message that said “get some drano.” Spent a weekend with 7 adults unable to use the bathroom sink. The host was generally difficult to get in touch with; he did not respond at all when we had trouble entering the property.

we received several emails prior to their stay asking for early entrance so we rushed our turnover service to accommodate. we then received messages about a clogged sink. I was away… It was a Saturday on a holiday weekend …
I was pretty much dead in the water to be able to get anyone to jump on the issue. Drano seems like an intelligent solution…
When I arrived post checkout to review the stay. Every light was on, every AC unit was on full blast, garbage thrown on the porch….
Unfortunately this seems to be one of those rare situations where the stay didn’t work out for either party
Loved the location right off pedestrian mall! Nice area to walk and so convenient to restaurants, market, coffee shop. It was great. The historic home is nicely decorated. Beds are very comfortable! It has low lighting inside which was a little difficult.
This is a beautiful home and was absolutely perfect for our short getaway. It is spacious, the decor is lovely, and I wanted to take all of the furnishings home!
Thank you for a lovely visit, Bill and the fun puppy play date.
Great location! The beds are comfortable but it is a little dirty and needs cleaning. Only one bathroom. We would totally stay there again.

Lovely Place but...
The property is located in a wonderful urban place...with that said it is loud at night when bars let out. The place is very unique but many things need repair - the shower head just hangs, there was no curtain rod to hold curtain in place, the place is very dark - maybe LED light bulbs would help. It is also very dirty. You can see layers of dust, dirt and cob webs in the bathroom and kitchen. It has a lot of potential but the pictures posted are much nicer than the actual property. You can't get into the back door or the front for that matter - but the kitchen door is accessible. The owner is super nice and very very accommodating. I want him to do well so I hope he gets on his cleaning and repair crew. The bedding was as described in the other write ups - very comfortable. It could be a very unique place to stay!

convenient spot with character
We spent 4 nights in June 2018 at this pleasant, pre-civil war, two-story row house, just over a block from Main Street, a pedestrians-only shopping and dining area. We come to Charlottesville once or twice a year, and now plan to make this our place to stay when we are there. It has real character and all the amenities, including very comfortable beds, air conditioning, an equipped kitchen, a nice shower, and various games, etc., including a ping-pong table!. It is also steps away from a local market. For a large party, the only drawback would be the single bathroom. If you, like we, prefer having your own place, one that has character and is and comfortable, I recommend this one.

Great location, charming antique row house
We enjoyed the ambience in the antique home. The linens in the King sized beds were lovely. We played old records on the retro Victrola, and played the music box "Moon River." Our host was responsive and helpful. It is really convenient to the pedestrian mall. Our family group was OK sharing the single bathroom. We were able to cook a simple spaghetti meal and easily prepare breakfasts in the kitchen.

Charlottesville Weekend
Our Fall Weekend in Charlottesville was a huge success and this charming row house was a big hit.
The room sizes were much bigger than expected and the one bathroom, which we thought might present a problem, functioned very nicely . The beds and pillows were EXTREMELY comfortable. The individual room temperature controls worked very well. No problem with the WIFI , plenty of board games for the whole family. The house was so convenient to everything, a block away from a market, coffee shop, bar, café, restaurants, parks and churches. Two blocks from the MALL. . Very quiet at night!! Walking home from the Tin Whistle at midnight we felt very safe. The owner Bill, was friendly and accommodating. We all felt we could highly recommend this house .

Great Location & Interesting Home
We stayed along with three other couples for a wedding at Early Mountain Vineyard. The home is filled with so much character and charm - we couldn't stop talking about the little details throughout the house. The back porch, small balcony, large living room and comfortable bedrooms all made for a great stay. The location is perfect, just a quick walk away from the mall. Bill was very friendly and the house was clean upon our arrival. The bedrooms have window units and they do a good job of keeping the bedrooms cool. Despite being a very hot August weekend, the rest of the house was not very hot, so I wouldn't worry about the lack of central air. Highly recommended for groups. We would definitely like to come back!

Very comfortable and close to downtown Charlottesville!!!
The location was wonderful!!! So close for walking in downtown Charlottesville!! The beds were very comfortable! We would recommend some extra blankets, although we ended up not needing them and that the 4th bedroom already would've been set up for use. Otherwise, it was wonderful! BTW, we enjoyed the wine that was there and the coffee was very nice too! Would highly recommend this to anyone looking for close in Charlottesville lodging!
