Designed by renowned architect William Krisel, this iconic 1959 Butterfly Alexander home has been obsessively restored to its original vision of space-age optimism. Located in the heart of Palm Springs’ Racquet Club Estates, Googie Ranch offers a one-of-a-kind Mid-Century Modern experience that perfectly blends vintage charm with contemporary comfort.

Artist Nat Reed had the rare opportunity to consult directly with Krisel during the restoration process, gaining insight into sourcing original materials and staying true to Krisel’s architectural intent. The result is a masterful revival that captures the spirit of the era—from authentic furnishings to period-correct details.

Inside, every room radiates the colorful, playful energy found in Reed’s retro-modern artwork. Nostalgically themed bedrooms spark the imagination:
Primary Bedroom: Queen bed, en-suite bathroom

Bedroom 3: King bed
All bedrooms include blackout shades for sleeping in and generous closet space—ideal for both short- and long-term stays.

Natural light floods the interior through sweeping clerestory windows and a dramatic wall of south-facing glass, blurring the lines between indoors and out. Step outside to your private quarter-acre lot, where you can take in serene views of the San Jacinto Mountains from a poolside lounger. The kidney-shaped pool and refreshing outdoor shower (with both hot and cold water) make it easy to unwind in complete privacy. As the sun sets, gather around the gas firebowl for cozy evenings under the stars.

In summer 2021, Googie Ranch received new Italian ceramic tile flooring and a full interior repaint, enhancing its fresh, modern feel while preserving its mid-century soul.
 
Located just minutes from downtown Palm Springs, you’re never far from vibrant nightlife, world-class dining, boutique shopping, art galleries, and iconic hiking trails. Whether by bike or car, everything you want is close at hand—including horse stables and the chic uptown design district.

Minimum length of stay and special rates may apply during certain seasonal events.

There is an optional pool heating available for a fee, (when needed). Depending upon length of stay, utility charges may apply.

Upon acceptance of the reservation you will be required to sign a Rental Agreement directly with the management company – 365 Vacation Rentals

The Palm Springs Vacation Rental Ordinance requires the following:

All persons must be at least 25 years of age or accompanied by parent or legal guardian.
The maximum number of guests shall not exceed posted limits. This includes ALL children AND infants.
Outdoor music of any kind or excessive noise is not permitted at any time.
No more than 1 car per bedroom is allowed per home. 3 car maximum.

Failure to do so will result in fines being issued directly to the occupant of the home and you will forfeit your security deposit. Please refer to your rental agreement or ask for greater detail.

We needed privacy, rest and an opportunity to recharge. We are not party people and we found this charming soulful mid century home to have everything we needed. Most of all, we felt this property was well loved and well looked after.

Great Stay at Googie Ranch

We enjoyed staying in this lovely, centrally located home. The home was beautifully decorated and equipped with everything we needed. The property management company was very responsive and helpful in accommodating our needs.

Perfect pool getaway

This house was perfect for our trip with our tween daughters that wanted lots of pool time. The backyard is really incredible. The inside really feels like stepping back in time, in the best way possible. It feels perfectly preserved mid-century without feeling dingy. The pillows are very full, so if that’s not your jam, bring your own.

Perfect vacation house

This house was perfect for our stay in Palm Springs! The mid century design and furniture was awesome. The private backyard was a fun place to hang with a few different areas to sit and easy to get to from the sliding glass door in the kitchen. Lots of hummingbirds to watch also! The pool was clean and refreshingly cool. The house had all the essentials, like towels, pots and pans etc. I would definitely stay here again!

Mid-century Modern Haven

We truly enjoyed a very relaxing stay at Googie Ranch. The check-in process was smooth and easy, and the property was just as advertised. We appreciated all of the authentic mid-century modern touches, including the Formica countertops and furniture of the era. The Nat Reed art throughout the house maintained that great vibe. And relaxing by the pool was just awesome! We truly enjoyed our relaxing stay at the Googie Ranch!

A home away from home

This place is a true masterpiece. Surrounded by art in every room and immersed in the mid century experience, you can’t help but enjoy this place for the total eye candy that it is. After daily outings, it was a wonderful sanctuary to return to for some poolside quiet time. The rental agency was very responsive and check in and check out was effortless. This place was the icing on the cake of our Palm Springs adventure.

Mid-century magic in the desert!

What a delight it was to stay at the Googie Ranch! Bathed in sunlight and lovingly decorated with the striking and whimsical art of Nat Reed, this classic Alexander home is a mid-century modern-lover's dream. If you're looking for a touch of fun, elegance, and mountain views to die for, look no further. The property managers were responsive and helpful throughout our stay....we can't wait to return!

Nice place but a few considerations

The Pros: The hiuse is very clean, decorated with owners artwork, quiet neighborhood, super close to downtown. Cons: We wish pool heating was available because the water was way too cold. One of the main reasons we rents the house was to be able to swim. Also, the mid-century furniture, although cool looking, is very uncomfortable. Lastly, many VRBO properties provide minor amenities of bath soap and shampoo. It would be nice for this to have been provided.

Quiet, Relaxing Kitsch!

Fantastic! 5 stars! A+ Love this property. Can't say enough good things about it and the communication, check-in and check-out. Easy-peasy all the way. Absolutely love the decor! This mid-century gem is decorated with sense of humor, kitsch, and a genuine appreciation for the era of the home. The kitchen is well-equipped for cooking. Bring your own spices and you can find just about every pot, pan or utensil you are likely to need. You may want to buy ice unless you're down with cracking old school ice trays like we had when I was young (aging myself here), but really, how big of a deal is that? The expansive backyard is exceptionally well maintained and has everything you could need for a quiet, relaxing vacation with family or friends. SIX lounge chairs, a grill and a table for four to nosh outside, four additional chairs around the fire pit, a hammock... honestly, what doesn't this property have? Ok, Palm Springs doesn't let you have raucous parties in the neighborhoods. Tough patooties, folks. Stay downtown for that. Stay here to relax and enjoy the beautiful desert sky overhead while you float in the heated pool. I did.

Pristine mid-century vacation home — just one issue…

We LOVED Googie Ranch! The vintage furnishings and decor are truly impressive, the home is clean and well maintained, and the secluded back yard and pool are perfect - especially the outdoor shower. The pink poodle paintings were particularly charming! The only real issue we had — which is the reason for the four start rating instead of five — is that the mattresses are not comfortable and need to be replaced. We tried both the primary bedroom (queen) and main guest bedroom (king) — and both felt like they should have been replaced years ago. We did not try the second guest bedroom because that one has two twin beds. One other thing I would mention to the property manager — which is a truly minor issue — is that all of the pool inflatables leaked air and wouldn’t stay inflated. Maybe get rid of those and replace them with new (should not be a huge expense). Despite these issues we loved the property so much that we would stay there again.

Great Desert MCM in Palm Springs

The Googie Ranch is a great MCM spot in Palm Springs. It’s eclectically designed with all that you need to have a wonderful stay. It has a nice kitschy mid-century vibe and is located near all the Palm Springs hot spots. It’s located in a quiet neighborhood of other cool mid-century desert modern homes. it has a nice pool and a nicely decorated patio and backyard. If I could just offer two small suggestions they would be that the bathrooms need to be given some TLC such as re-caulking and re-grouting would help freshen it up a bit. Plus the exterior needs some TLC as well. Overall it was a great stay

Perfect Couple's Desert Getaway!

My husband and I stayed here for our 39th wedding anniversary! The home was perfect. Conveniently located. Close to airport and downtown. Home was super clean. High-end washer and dryer on site was a big win. We absolutely loved the mid-mod artwork, furniture and overall vibe. Owners/property managers were very responsive to questions and needs. You definitely want to stay here, it will not disappoint. We will certainly stay here again!

Our family of four (2 adults, 2 young kids) had a fantastic stay. The house was clean, bright, awesome decor, in a quiet neighborhood, a two-minute walk from a playground. The beds were comfy. The kitchen was well-stocked with pots, pans, plates, drinkware, servingware. The backyard was so fun! The firepit was great on nights that weren't too breezy. We had the pool heated ( a must in November), and it was a good size with one end shallow enough for a five and seven year old to stand up in and play. We had a great, relaxing stay and would love to return some day.

Great pool, fun decor, needs a refresh

The house design and decor is as described, very palm springs, and fun. It had everything we needed and with young kids was a great set up. No problems with the house supplies or process of checking in and out. The host was responsive, even texting late at night during a power outage! However it does feel the house is a bit worn out and could use some updating. The biggest concern was the cleanliness, especially during the pandemic. High touch areas were clearly dirty upon arrival, so we spent time cleaning the house and doing laundry before being able to enjoy it. The pool and outdoor space was great, and where we spent most of the time. Overall we had a fun weekend.
