This beachfront unit has been recently renovated, with new flooring, granite countertops, new couches and a new bed in the master bedroom! The kitchen has a new backsplash and dishwasher.

Sandpiper is a low density three story complex. Enjoy watching the waves roll in as you sit on this direct beachfront balcony. This unique V shape building and shared common area walkway in front of each condo lends to a friendly get to know your neighbor atmosphere. Family reunions, large groups of people traveling together and individual families choose this property often. The tropical courtyard, seasonally-heated swimming pool (mid-March through October, as needed) and grilling areas give Sandpiper an ambiance all its own. It is a highly requested property and has the most repeat guests.

Right on the Beach

We were very pleased with the location and set up of the condos. The only complaint we have is the door stopper on the balconies are wooden blocks that two people busted their feet on. Other than that, we enjoyed our stay! We hope to stay at Sandpiper again in the future!

We had 6 other units being rented in our party and had the opportunity to see their places.I highly recommend Bender for your stay. They are very professional and very helpful if you have a problem. In fact, I just recommended them to a family member yesterday since they are traveling to Gulf Shores. Be sure to try Sea and Suds gumbo and Shrimp Basket.

Enjoyed coming back to the Sandpiper

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: My family and I have been coming to the Sandpiper for the past 10 years. It's been a home away from home on vacation. I love coming back to the resort type setting and the easy pace. We have stayed in 8B in the past, and enjoyed all it had to offer. I was disappointed to see the unit had some wear from a year ago especially the cookware and the stove seemed to have only one good burner. The TV in the guest bedroom was outdated as well with a very small screen. We will keep coming back, but may try a different unit next time.

I had water coming to my unit one time and they pushed me from one unit to another unit while on my vacation and they gave me no compensation. They think everything‘s for them. That type stuff does add up and it does irritate me. I pay more to go to Sandpiper then I do in a nice hotel in Madrid Spain.

My wife slept in one of the twin beds so we could get sleep, Toilet in the master bath has major plumbing issues, Light in the bathroom kept going on and off while in use, Exhaust fan in bathroom was falling out of the ceiling, the floors need a good scrubbing, Living room furniture is old and uncomfortable, Area rug in the living room is stained and needs to be replaced. The Sandpiper is a great property and location and we will stay there again, but not in this unit! The photos of this unit are very misleading.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Sandpiper is a wonderful complex and the beach and pool were perfect. However, unit 8b needs some serious updates. We went with 7 other families that all had different units and all were very nice compared to ours. In unit 8b, the sheets and bedding were old, rough and sandy. The bathroom showers didn't spray well and the wall paper is pealing. The couch and chairs were uncomfortable and dirty. We covered them with sheets just to sit down. The green rug pictured has also been replaced with a smaller white rug. The advertised pictures are outdated. We will be returning to Sandpiper but renting a different unit next time.

Vacation at the Sandpiper

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: My family and I have been staying at the Sandpiper for the past 10 plus years. We love the resort type atmosphere that you can't get from a high rise condo. We have stayed in 8B at least 3-4 times, and enjoy sitting in the swing looking out to the ocean. There were new pots and pans to use that were quite nice, but the old ones weren't removed causing a lot of clutter in the cabinets. Probably the biggest issue we had were with the mattresses - all of them. My 89 year old mother-in-law chose to sleep on the couch rather than the twin beds in the guest bedroom. She actually tried both beds, and could not get comfortable. My husband and I also had the same issue in the master bedroom, but couldn't move to the couch as it was already occupied. The Sandpiper is a great place to stay! The staff and guests are very friendly. However, the unit itself needs some TLC from replacing the mattresses to some tile repair in the kitchen.

We did rebook for next year before our departure. Unfortunately not in the same unit. When we arived we were told the unit had been cleaned. There were dried eggs on the sink and side of Frig. Food on wall where garbage can was. Tons of sand under couch and all beds. That is to be expected though. It was just 2 adults in unit. The main bedroom mattress was awful. You would roll to middle of bed. We had to sleep in the 2nd room with 2 single beds. They were fairly new. Couldn't sleep on hide a bed either. We did like the facility so much that we were willing to try another unit next year.

Unit was fine, Gulf Shores becoming overpriced?

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We have been coming to Gulf Shores pretty much every year for 14 years and have stayed at Sandpiper probably 10 times. The heated pool is a draw for us and has always fulfilled our expectations. This unit is standard Sandpiper fare, but the decorating seemed to be better than average. I enjoyed the 3D wall art pieces. The mattress on the queen bed hurt my wife’s back so much we had to make other sleeping arrangements for her. However, to be fair, anytime we stay away from home, her back will hurt 50% of the time after sleeping. The TV in the room with the two twins is tiny and didn’t have the cable channels the other two had. The cost of the Sandpiper units seem to rise each year, not to mention the taxes, both on the unit (over 12%) and general sales tax (10%, of which 3% is imposed by Baldwin County and 3% by Gulf Shores). There were many non-rented units the week we were there and I am wondering if supply and demand might be hindering rentals. We may start looking for a new spring break location with more reasonable rates, if such a place exists. Overall, this unit worked out fine and we had a nice stay.

We especially enjoyed the deck, heated pool and easy beach access. Some easy suggestions on making this unit better would be switching out the very old bathroom exhaust fans and air return vents, get a decent indoor entrance rug, bed skirts and replace the bold colored metal wall decor with lighter items. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would stay here again.

Ok but misleading description

Reviewer Comments: Place is ok but disappointed they marketed that renovations are happening. We booked months ago and description indicated unit was “Undergoing exciting new renovations! This beachfront condo is having new flooring and furnishings installed”. Undergoing is a verb which implies current action. Clearly nothing had been renovated nor have furnishings been updated. Does not seem appropriate to claim that until something is actually happening. Pillows on beds are also about the worst of any place I’ve ever stayed and bed felt very well used and in need of replacement. It’s time for an update. Maybe these so called renovations that are happening at some point will help. Unit also could have been cleaned better before we arrived. There was still someone else’s hair on both shower walls, something crusty stuck to the decorative pillow cases on the bed, and several glass table tops looked dirty and smudged.On the positives, the location is awesome and views outstanding. Beach views and proximity to ocean are certainly the highlights of this unit.

Pots are nonstick and scratched (potential safety issue). No Smart TV (this was resolved). Couch and TV chairs very soft and mushy...not comfortable. Wont stay there again unless it's updated.
