Well equipped studio unit with comfortable bed and seating. Great open closet in bathroom area (addition of luggage rack or bench would be helpful).I found the almost constant noise from the dehumidifier and HVAC unit annoying. The step up to toilet mentioned in description was more like a step and a half (13-14”) and there was no safety grab bar present although there was a small step stool available in the kitchenette to assist with ascending to and descending from the toilet. With the toilet “step” and additional regular steps into bathroom and up to shower this place is not suited to individuals with certain mobility or reduced vision issues.
We liked the location Great walking neighborhood. The unit was clean and bed comfortable. The only drawback was the bathroom. An handlebar at toilet and shower would be a safety feature that many would use.
Very efficient landlord (Pete), always to be reached. Nice and quite centrally located neighborhood (Hyde Park). Places downtown and South of Congress easy to reach by bike or scooter.
Parking is somewhat tight and the alley to enter the property is narrow, with garbage cans along the side. However, the location is prime. The inside is very neat and tidy, just be sure to bring your own shampoo/soap, etc. Also needs a better shower head. But, overall good quality with an attentive host!

Clean, Neat, Awesome Location
The unit was clean, neat and conveniently located. The location is awesome for central Austin but close to the 1 or the 35, so going south or north is no problem. When there is no traffic, you can be at almost every significant place from south to north in under 20 minutes. When there is traffic, you can get downtown or the university in 15 to 20 minutes. I don't suggest traveling either north or south during rush hour, a 15 minute trip could take an hour. Another nice feature are all the tree lined streets around the unit. Taking a walk in the neighborhood is wonderful. Truly an urban forest.

Very clean and neat, perfect for 2 people
The apartment was clean when we arrived and is in a very cute part of Austin. It was perfect for 2 people staying for ACL that need just enough space to sleep and hang out and get ready for the day.

Hyde Park - Wonderful location
Exactly as described, the room was very clean and equipped with everything you would need. Very close to a great array of cafes, bars, shops and even a brilliant Italian restaurant. Pete was easy to contact and easy and polite to deal with. Would recommend to anyone wanting to stay a while in Austin.

Very clean and fresh
Pros: no shoes allowed in apartment so rug was very clean; no fragrances or chemical smells so room was very fresh; bed was comfortable; mini fridge was cold; shower stall and curtain were squeaky clean; parking space is located right outside door; and owner was quick to reply.
Cons: VRBO ad is misleading. The ad shows picture of upstairs unit with deck but the rental unit is really downstairs and around the back, on the alley with no deck and no porch; no washer/dryer in room; small freezer in mini fridge was iced over and in need of defrosting so it was unusable.
This ad is deceptive; I was expecting the upstairs apartment with deck as pictured in the ad so I was very disappointed that my room was a different room located on the back side of the building and opening on the alley. There was no deck and no washer/dryer in the room. Owner gave me the option to move upstairs to the apartment pictured in the ad-- BUT I would have had to pay additional cost of about $40 plus tax PER DAY plus VBRO fee. I would recommend this property with the warning that it is not the upstairs apartment with a deck shown in the ad.

Response from VrboOwner on 24 Mar, 2020
Carol,
I'm happy to hear that you enjoyed the apartment and how clean it was since keeping things extremely clean is something that I care very much about in all my rentals. However, I'm disappointed that you found the ad to be misleading, and this is the first time anyone has ever mentioned it being inaccurate in any way after over 3 years of renting it out.
Regarding the pictures being inaccurate, I'm sorry you felt this way. The exterior picture of the upstairs deck is not intended to be misleading or confusing to guests. It's meant to show the laundry room door that is below the deck area since many guests ask where the laundry facilities are for the unit. The description below the photo you're referring to clearly specifies that the deck is not associated with the unit you rented, and that it is showing the laundry area. Additionally, the description of the studio states it is a first floor apartment.
I am very sorry that the freezer was iced over; unfortunately mini fridges tend to do that and need to be defrosted once a year or so. If you would have told me once you arrived that it was iced over, I would have immediately come and taken care of it, but I wasn't made known of the issue until after you checked out. Otherwise, I always take care of issues promptly and as you mentioned, I'm personally available 24/7 for any needs or issues my guests may have.

Cosy and Homey
In the past we have rented a few flats from Pete and we have always been happy. This particular flat is very welcoming, well decorated and very clean. We recommend this unit or any other units owned by Pete since he takes such good care of his vacation rentals.

Comfortable, great location
Comfortable, clean, quiet and in a great location. The shower and commode are elevated (a good step up), so not great if you have mobility limitations. Bring your own pillow and soap. Grocery, coffee shop, bakery, and dining all just a couple blocks away, easy walk. We enjoyed our visit very much and would stay here again.
