My family (spouse, mom and aunt and uncle) has stayed here a couple of times and we keep coming back! The view is amazing, the kitchen is well-stocked with all the necessities and the beds are really comfortable. The neighborhood is really quiet and tranquil too.
My family has stayed at this gorgeous house several times. The location is perfect for us, the view is amazing and the house itself is well maintained and lovely. The owner has recently added a new sofa which makes hanging out in the living room much more comfortable! Highly recommend this house for a vacation stay!

Great layout with wonderful views in great area
Good. Loved the pool table and the foosball table! Really fun. Enjoyed the star gazing off the deck as well as the bridge and river lock during the day. Good communication with Tracy. Let her know of the leaking refrigerator and frost build up in the freezer. Advised that the floor was damaged from that. Also the credit card that was left behind from previous tenant. All in all we would come again. Thanks!
Relaxing in a clean, comfortable house with all the amenities while looking at the gorgeous view of the dam and the Columbia River is a wonderful way to start a vacation. I highly recommend renting this unit.

Communication and cleanliness issues
View was great, but there were mosquitoes on all the windowsills and we found bugs on the couch and in the bedroom. Downstairs tv remote was also nowhere to be found, messaged host but received no response in our time there.

We’re delighted that you enjoyed the stunning view during your stay. It’s wonderful to hear that the setting made your trip special. We followed up with the homeowner, who would like to share the following information:
- We’ve updated our cleaning checklist to ensure the window sills and couch receive extra attention.
- The remote has been reordered, so future guests will have it ready to use.
We appreciate your feedback, as it helps us continue delivering the 5-star stays we’re known for. We hope to welcome you back in the future.
We needed a place to stay for 3 generations of family and this place was perfect! The pool table was a big hit with everyone and the views were incredible. Our group consisted of 5 adults and 1 child and we had plenty of space (and bathrooms) for everyone. I love a hot tub with a view and this one did not disappoint. We will be back!
We've been to the Dalles a few times and this house offered a unique view we haven't had anywhere else. The house itself is easy and comfortable. Each floor has something different, which gave each of us our own experience. The property manager gave timely and detailed information. Check in and out was effortless.
This is the 2nd year we have had family Christmas at this house and love the view and the house. One thing you might not know, is that the floor in the upstairs shower is VERY squeeky. It sounds and feels like the floor doesn't have enough support.
we enjoyed our stay. It was a nice house for our family. It was very clean and spacious. The hot tub was nice and the kids enjoyed the pool table downstairs. There's also a game room. One minor thing is that I wish they had a place to store the trash outside. I only saw a recycling bin. Also a vacuum would be nice to do a quick clean up if needed

Large, well-appointed house in The Dalles
I highly recommend staying at this home in The Dalles. It has a nice view of The Dam, Columbia River, and surrounding hills. It’s about an hour to Mt Hood The Meadows ski resort. There are plenty of restaurants. Also, many wineries and hiking trails are within 30 minutes. Fred Meyer and Safeway Grocery Stores are within a few minutes drive. The house was relaxing and quiet. Don’t miss The Dalles Main Street as it has lots of shops and restaurants. The hosts had dishwasher tabs, washing machines pods, and coffee filters. It was very nice to have these on site.

Very hot
From the time we arrived until we left we had AC issues and the house was very hot. The outside temperature ranged between 106-110 degrees and the AC would work for a couple hours and quit. We wasted a couple days of sightseeing waiting in a tech to come workin the AC. As soon as one thing was fixed another would break. The AC unit needs to be replaced. The tech said it was at the end of its lifespan.

Hi Michael, we want our guests to rest easy when they stay with us, and we apologize you experienced some issues during your trip. We followed up with the homeowner after reading your feedback, and they wanted to share the following:
"We're truly sorry you experienced failing air conditioning in very hot weather. As owners, we do feel we took all possible steps to aid you wit the unfortunate situation. We gave you our personal phone number on the very first night. We arranged for an air conditioner repair man to come out on a Saturday morning at a time when many HVAC repair places were overloaded with calls and jobs. When the first round of repairs failed we ensured the repairman came back again on Monday to try again. And we ultimately refunded you for 3/4ths of your rental fees for your discomfort, even though you chose to spend three nights in the house (of a 4-night total stay). I'm not sure what more any owner could have done in this situation. What we will do going forward is add a bi-monthly air conditioning maintenance schedule to the property, so no one else has a similar experience."
I felt like I needed to clean the kitchen surfaces, ie: frig, dishwasher, stove top, counters, before I could use them. The sink was greesy inside. An old, used sponge was sitting out for us to use.
Also, the upstairs carpet was in need of a good vacuum. We never went downstairs, so I can not comment on that.
The master bed was hard like a futon and the "shams" on the pillows looked as if they needed washed.
Except for the "not so clean" part, the house is gorgeous. Wonderful view. Pretty well stocked kitchen. LOTS of towels. Internet was good.
Dining chairs are rickety. Couches are comfortable. Wonderful, easy to use fireplace.

This is a beautiful home in a great location! I grew up in Hood River and hadn’t been back to the PNW for way too long, so for this trip we pretty much just hung out and caught up with local friends and family the entire week - which this house was perfect for! Open floor plan on the main level made meals and visiting a breeze, while the bottom level was perfect for movies and rounds of pool! I do wish the kitchen (particularly the fridge/freezer/stovetop) would have been cleaned more throughly as it was in pretty poor shape. I was also bummed that there wasn’t any true deck/patio furniture since spending time on the deck in the morning and evening is one of the best things about this property. While my husband didn’t mind, the mattress in the master bedroom was way too hard for me and I didn’t sleep well the entire trip. My daughters (8 & 11) also felt the same way about their beds. That said, the blankets, sheets, towels, etc were all great and very soft! All in all, it was a wonderful rental and if I had been able to sleep better, I wouldn’t hesitate to return.
Lifelong friends needed a local place to gather this year due to family commitments and I was pleasantly surprised to find this newer listing on VRBO! I had a couple of questions during our stay and Tracy always responded right away. It was a lovely home with a large, well-stocked kitchen including double-ovens which we did end up using a couple of times over our three-day stay. The deck has a great view of the Columbia River and The Dalles Dam; however, we could not enjoy sitting outside because of the noise from the freeway and also the wind (which we knew could be a possibility since we're all from the area). No worries, though, as the wall of windows in the living room and pool room worked just as well to enjoy the scenery (windows could use a wash, though). Speaking of the downstairs pool room - we also made use of the pool table while listening to oldies through the t.v. We did not use the hot tub so I cannot comment on that. All in all, a great stay and I would book this one again but a few smaller items need to be addressed: a few of the remotes need new batteries (upstairs fan, windspeed indicator on kitchen window sill, downstairs fireplace), the air intake grate could use a cleaning, the blinds were not the easiest to get up and down, the shower curtain in the hall bath upstairs kept coming off of the hooks and the master bath shower curtain was too short allowing water to escape onto the tile floor. All easy to remedy and again, we all enjoyed our stay!
