Welcome to Cottage in the Pines! Tucked away less than 10 minutes from the heart of bustling Highlands, this tranquil cottage offers expansive views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. This single-story home has three bedrooms and two bathrooms, with space for up to 6 guests. It perfectly balances a cozy cabin feel with uniquely contemporary styling.

Enter into a bright living area and catch your first glimpse of the view beyond. This airy space includes a flat-screen TV, a wood-burning fireplace, deck access, a well-equipped kitchen nook, and a breakfast bar. To the left, the primary bedroom is private and quiet, with a queen bed and ensuite bathroom featuring a built-in makeup vanity and rain-head shower with handheld attachment.

On the far side of the house, the modern guest bathroom is bookended by two guest rooms, one with a cozy double bed. The expansive king bedroom is the real treat, with wall-to-wall windows providing unobstructed views. Access a spacious balcony deck from both the living area and the large guest room. It's large enough to entertain, with a grill and dining table, but cozy enough to enjoy your morning coffee with nothing but the picturesque Blue Ridge Mountains as company.

Your reservation includes a damage protection plan. The damage protection plan is $50, and it covers up to $3,000 in damages. When you have a wood fireplace, you should provide firewood. It was disappointing to drive 5 1/2 hours and get skunked on wood - esp for a nice rental. If you’re not going to supply wood, at the very least, address that on the website. The kitchen amenities were pretty cheep. Place was clean though and decorated nicely.

We could not have been happier with our stay at Cottage in the Pines. Property was very clean, warm and welcoming. Beds were comfortable, and kitchen well stocked. Property manager was great at checking in, and readily available. The location can’t be beat, with a breathtaking view of the mountains and wonderful restaurants within 2 mile distance to downtown Highlands. We are already looking forward to a return stay!

The view was fabulous! Our suggestion is to have drapes or blinds on the sliding glass doors and kitchen window. The afternoon sun was hot, blinding and we had to move to bedrooms. The master bedroom you had to share a bathroom with the other bedroom. The double bedroom has a larger nice bath , but bed very small for adults. Furniture was very uncomfortable- the house is lovely, love the one story just a few things that need attention.

Beautiful View

This property was incredible for my wife and I! We just recently had our first born and it was exactly what we needed for our first weekend away. The views are amazing and the town was incredible. The waterfall on the way into the property was icing on the cake. We would 100% recommend to anyone. Our only issue was that we couldn't stay longer!

The perfect spot!

Cottage in the Pines was the perfect getaway spot. It is located in a private, quiet neighborhood, only minutes from downtown Highlands. The cottage was beautifully appointed and had all the amenities needed for a comfortable stay. The deck overlooking the mountains is a beautiful place to enjoy the fresh mountain air.

We rented this home for a girls weekend. It’s close to town, spacious, and had a great view. It was clean and comfortable (and I’m pretty picky about beds & pillows.) we’d definitely rent it again.

Tranquil and relaxing. We had a wonderful time. The house was very clean, it had all the conveniences we needed and it was convenient to town. The view of the mountains was spectacular! Would definitely love to stay there again.

Place is great, as described and well maintained. We enjoyed the house with family and our two small pups. The wood burning fire place enhanced our trip significantly. It was really cold, so we didn't spend a lot of time outside, but the place has a great deck with an incredible view. Would stay here again.

Lovely Cottage in Highlands

We needed a brief get away to recharge batteries and Highlands provided the right respite. Cottage In The Pines was perfect for our group of four. The house is well appointed and had great mountain views. We appreciated being able to bring our dog and enjoyed walks around the neighborhood. Very private setting but super close to the shops and restaurants in Highlands.

Great Location

I recently stayed at Cottage in the Pines with my two small children (toddler and baby). The cottage was perfect for our needs, the area was very quiet with no road noise , beautiful views from the master bedroom and a short drive to town or nearby hikes. The kitchen area was small but it was sufficient for our needs. I would caution anyone staying there with small children that there was minimal windows coverings so it made bedtime very difficult (sunset is currently at 8:45) so at 6:30 /7 it was very bright in all the rooms. Overall a lovely stay and we would come back again

Perfect view and location

Very comfortable house for my husband and me with our two dogs. We wanted a view and this house delivered! Appreciated the paved roads for easy walking and driving. Very convenient to grocery store and town of Highlands not even five minutes. Big issue with internet at this property. We have stayed many times in Highlands and never experienced not being able to receive or make calls. We have AT&T which works everywhere in the world. Difficult to stay here if you need to be in touch with others or try to do some work while away. I think if they put some money into a better carrier other than a Dish that may help. Again, never had this problem in Highlands before. There was only one review of this house when I rented it. I took a chance because I really liked the view it showed. If you don't mind being unplugged it's great. The house really needed a good cleaning. I did let the Management Company know when I went into town. They were very concerned. I couldn't call them upon arrival due to lack of service. We cleaned what was needed and all was well. The bathrooms and kitchen were clean. Just dust and dirt that could use a good vacuum. I do believe the Management Company will take care of this so don't miss out on this great house because of that. The waterfall in the neighborhood is a real treat. All in all, this is a great rental for a couple to get away. I think the house had been empty for sometime before we stayed

Appreciated the instructions to buy firewood for the fireplace, but didn't know we needed to bring shampoo and conditioner. Wish the living room furniture was more comfortable and expansive for lounging/hanging out.
