The parc is situated in"Le Parc Régional Périgord-Charente -Limousin". Located in the Charente, a beautiful, unspoiled, lush area with fields full of sunflowers and lots of vineyards. It is brought to life by a network of meandering rivers. The village life in the Charente is fantastic: There are markets in the Spring, bric a brac, and in the Summer village fêtes with moules frites (mussels and chips). Angoulême is the capital of the Charente , a beautifull city with an old cityhall and Cathédral. Cognac, well known for its spirit, is also within an hour's drive. You can tour and visit the different houses here.
While in the Charente, you are also within 5 minute's drive from the Dordogne where you can go to the market in Piégut on Wednesday. Further away you will find the most picturesque place that you could every wish to visit, Brantôme. Perigueux, the capital of the Dordogne, is also well worth visiting.
In the Limousin you will find Limoges at an hour's drive, known for its Porcelain and good food.
We are on to the Richard the Lionheart route for a great day out! Of historic interest is the village of Ouradour sur Glane, which was burnt down completely during WW2. The memerial for the resistance in Chasseneuil is impressive. As well as Chassenon where you will find Roman baths.

Golf de la Prèze is a splendid 18-hole golf course in a tranquil, beautiful setting and is 5 minute drive away. It offers a driving range, two pitch and putting greens, and an 18 hole par-3 pitch and put course. There is a restaurant with terrace at the golf club as well, to enjoy a well-deserved drink after playing your round. You will also find very nice horseriding facilities within 5 minutes of the parc. the owner speaks English and French. Children love it there as they can also take care of the horses.
Montbron is the nearest town at 10 minutes drive. It has been said that the surrounding countryside is reminiscent of parts of Switzerland and even Tuscany because of its history, its castle, ramparts, and historic streets and houses. There is plenty of interest in Montbron for lovers of old France. There are several small markets on Tuesday and Thursday and the first Friday night market in August attracts more than 15,000 visitors. The town itself offers all amenities, with a good few bars and restaurants and a small variety of shops. Montbron has an Intermarché and ALDI (supermarket) where you can purchase all your provisions.
Also, a must is La Rochefoucauld at 20 minute drive with its castle set high above the streets, which is said to be one of the most remarkable castles in France. The town itself offers a variety of shops, bars and restaurants to engage visitors on holiday. You will find a big E. Leclerc (supermarket) at the outskirts of the town as well.
If you don't feel like shopping you can eat out in one of the many picturesque restaurants in the area. One of the highlights is eating at a farm, where you can taste the true French cuisine as it has been eaten for centuries. Here you can find some of the best Magret de Canard and Foie Gras, since it is all produced locally in the Dordogne.
