This is our second of three VRBO at this location as we just returned to start our third. This is the perfect Cabin with Cottage in a park like setting within easy walking distance from downtown Langley. The owner, Tim has been very kind and helpful and has assisted us with any questions about the property and surrounding area.
We really enjoyed the house, it was charming and comfortable and clean. We would definitely consider a return visit and would recommend to future island travelers!
Peaceful location location location. This property is the perfect getaway within walking distance from Langley. During our four week stay we had daily guests of rabbits and deer, such that we began to give them names. The owner of the property was the perfect host and provided clear details.
The online description does not do this place justice! Beautiful wooded retreat. Enjoyed the secret loft, updated cabin, and walkable into Langley. Definitely would stay here again!
Tim was fantastic to rent from and had great communication with us!

Not quite as expected
While the house was fine, a bit complicated with all of the thermostats.
The guest house smelled of gas and we were not able to use it. This caused a necessary change in sleeping arrangements. Given we are family it worked out fine, but you should be aware the guest space is not acceptable for sleeping.
Explanatory signage and introductory explanation on site would be helpful.
Still, the family had a wonderful time together.

Hi Carin,
I’m sorry that your family’s stay did not meet your expectations. We’ve shared our family’s cabin with over 100 groups in the last two years and we’ve literally never received a negative review. I was flabbergasted to read yours. I went back through my correspondence with you and not once did you indicate that anything was amiss during your stay. I wish someone from your group—since you didn’t actually stay at our cabin yourself—had communicated with me about their concerns during their stay rather than waiting until afterwards. If you/they had done so I might have been able to answer your questions about the heating and/or address your unfounded concerns about the cottage. For potential future guests, the heating is not complicated and it is safe to stay in the cottage. In the past two years we have over 80 reviews, including since Carin’s stay. Please consider those reviews alongside Carin’s. Thank you!

Perfect home away from home for our family!
If you enjoy quiet, beautiful views with bunnies frolicking in the yard, you will love this cabin & cottage. Our family was very comfortable & we had everything we needed. The owner was quick to answer any questions we had. The home feels secluded, but is a close drive to the quaint town of Langley.

Quiet and cozy with plenty of space for 8 people. Walking distance to downtown Langley.
We enjoyed our stay here. It was quiet and relaxing. We spent a lot of time on the front deck visitng and watching the rabbits and birds. There was plenty of space for 8 people to stay here. This property is walking distance to downtown Langley and the waterfront, which had small art galleries, shopping and restaurants. We also drove to nearby state parks and beaches.

Enjoyed our stay at Langley cabin
My three friends and I enjoyed our stay at Langley cabin. It was charming, clean and plenty of room for four. Inside and outside, a good place to relax. The owner left good instructions for operation and care of the cabin. The location was a pleasant walk to Langley. We had a very nice stay.

Perfect Family Retreat
The home is idyllic. You feel like you're isolated, but you're just a couple minutes outside of Langley's downtown area. A wonderful place to get away. The owner was very responsive and helpful. We would absolutely stay again.

Lots of light, easy to relax in, clean, and welcoming
The owner was very responsive and communicative. We stayed with a one year old and a dog and found it really easy to settle right in. Close to town but we still felt like we were out in the woods. We would definitely stay again!

About the host
Hosted by Tim Jones
Our family of five, including a 2 year-old, a 5-year-old and an 8-year-old golden retriever, live in Seattle. Tim is a college professor. Neha is a psychologist. We visit the cabin as often as we can. It is our sanctuary where we go to intentionally connect with family, friends, and nature. We love to entertain and we often have guests in the detached studio cottage. If you choose our cabin, we hope you love it as much as we do.
Why they chose this property
Location! Location! Location! The Cabin at Langley (on Whidbey Island) is our private sanctuary. It is located at the end of a private drive that meanders through the trees and the sun-filled, half-acre garden is surrounded by trees on three sides. There is an abundance of wildlife with rabbits, squirrels, deer and many varieties of birds.
If you are drawn to the sea, the South Whidbey Harbor at Langley is less than a mile away. The Harbor includes a pier with spectacular views of Saratoga Passage, a boat launch, and a small, sandy beach. You can rent kayaks and stand-up paddle boards from Whidbey Island Kayaking or book a whale watching charter with Mystic Sea, which "promises 100% that you'll see a grey whale while onboard."
If hiking or mountain biking is more your style, the Putney Woods, Saratoga Woods, Metcalf Trail System is only three miles away, a forest preserve of 800+ acres that includes nearly 20 miles of trails.
Further afield, about ten miles away, is one of the best dog parks in the Pacific Northwest. Double Bluff Off-Leash Dog Beach includes a two-mile stretch of wide, beautiful sand.
Other popular destinations on Whidbey Island, includ: Fort Casey Historical State Park (26 miles), Coupeville (27 miles), Fort Ebey State Park (31 miles) and Deception Pass State Park (48 miles).
What makes this property unique
WHAT WE LOVE ABOUT THE CABIN: the wood interior, the cathedral ceiling, the fire place, the third floor loft which we use as a meditation space, the many windows, the sky lights, the rocking chairs, the long window seat in the living room, the many decks, and the bucolic view from just about every window.
WHAT WE LOVE ABOUT THE COTTAGE: the charm, the fire place, the porch, the rocking chairs, the privacy, the proximity to the cabin, the sky lights and the simple, but tasteful decor.
WHAT WE LOVE ABOUT THE GARDEN: the size (about half an acre), the woodsy feel, the wildlife (including rabbits, deer, squirrels and many varieties of birds), the fruit trees, the fire pit, and the privacy.
