Perfect Family getaway
We rented the top and middle units for our selves and our grown children. We used the middle unit (this one) for our meals and together time. It has everything you need. It is comfortable and charming. The floor plan is conducive to several people but not overwhelming for just 2. Even though it rained the whole time we were there it was OK because the unit is very light and bright and the view out the windows is gorgeous. The hot tub was a fun thing to do in the rain. We would highly recommend this place if you want a quiet getaway in Kentucky

Thank you! Hope you can visit Kentucky River Cottages again!
This is a perfect retreat for a relaxing getaway but very convenient for shopping, restaurants, outdoor excursions. Beautiful view overlooking the Kentucky River. Time can be spent relaxing on the deck, a day trip to Berea or Lexington, or napping in the very comfortable bed! Brenda is an amazing host and responsive to any need. Unit is well-equipped and very comfortable.
Highly recommend
We had a very relaxing stay at this beautiful spot on the Kentucky River. The deck was a delightful place to sit and read, play games or enjoy a meal together. It is located near the highway which made it easy to get to attractions for whatever adventure we were seeking—hiking, horseback riding, kayaking. Brenda was easy to get ahold of and attentive to our needs. I recommend staying here.
We really enjoyed our stay at Brenda’s Kentucky river cottage. We were in town for derby weekend. The house was close enough to the city to do all we needed to do while also getting to enjoy some nature and seclusion! We loved driving by all the beautiful horse farms in and out.
The cabin was clean and cozy. Watching the river from the deck was extremely relaxing. Brenda is a fantastic host and very accommodating. I would definitely stay there again next time we go to Kentucky.
My husband and I were looking for a secluded getaway and the Kentucky River Cottage was PERFECT. We needed an escape from busy day to day life and this property delivered! We spent our days reconnecting and enjoying the River and mountainside views. We were fortunate to be the only guests at the cottage during our stay so it made it feel twice as great! Would recommend this place to anyone!! ❤️
This was a perfect location for time away to rest and restore. The space was just what we needed for two adults and one teen. Lots of easy to get to hikes, food, stores, shopping and more. We will be back!
Amazing view with close proximity to Lexington. Me and my wife spent a week here and were able to travel the bourbon trail, hike in Daniel Boone National Forest, tour Keeneland, and attend a race at Churchill Downs. Very nice place to return to at the end of our days with the relaxing view of the Kentucky River. Due to the rain, we also could see two mini waterfalls coming down the Rockwall directly across the river. We would highly recommend staying here.
Wonderful view! Kitchen was fully stocked and easy to use. Very cozy apartment that made for a relaxing weekend. Also in a great location to tour Kentucky and Lexington.
We had a great time and the 2nd floor was even nicer than we expected. We spent a lot of time sitting out on the deck that overlooks the Kentucky river. The inside had everything we needed, was clean and very charming. I would definitely book this place again and would recommend it to friends. Brenda, the owner was great to work with, was responsive and went out of her way to make sure we enjoyed our stay.
This cabin is beautiful and the kitchen is fully equipped. The view breathtaking and the listing did not say it was right on the river which was a very pleasant surprise. The owners left Roku there to use if you wanted to. The unfortunate parts were that we could not use the hot tub at all and we were not informed of that prior to stay. The evenings were quite pleasant for a bon fire, but no seating or wood where it looked like we could make a bon fire and these were things that we were looking for when we searched for places to stay. The last thing that was quite unpleasant was the loudness is the air/heat. It kicked in quite often and then you can forget to watch TV or listen to music because it was so loud. The fireplace in the room did not work so we could not turn the heat off and just use the fireplace. Other than that I works truly recommend this place and would stay there again, for sure.

I am very sorry that the recent guest had unpleasant experience at the Ky River Cottages. We had just been impacted with a horrible flood of the Ky River and unfortunately my guest book was destroyed in the flood. The book would have explained how to turn on the electric logs and where the firewood was located. I thought I had informed the guests that our hot tub was destroyed by the flood and assumed they would realize from our website that the cottage is located on the Kentucky River. I am glad the guest made me aware that the instructions for the electric fireplace was not available as I had forgotten to replace the information book. We had worked three weeks in the flood cleanup and were so busy trying to get the cottage ready for rentals. The heaters were destroyed in the flood and I am sorry the noise from the newly installed heaters was very loud. I will have the units inspected. The guests left a very nice review in my guest book and I hope they will return.
We loved our stay here. It was exactly as the listing stated. Very private and we didn't see another sole the entire time we were there. There were 2 other units supposedly rented yet we never saw them.
We wrapped up our anniversary trip with 2 nights. Very nice place weather was not as great but enjoyed our quarters.
We could hear 3 floor guests but we were not there long.
The property was perfect, and the owner is incredibly gracious! We loved having the hot tub to relax after hiking and other activities. It is far enough from town for privacy, but it's close enough to everything you need.

About the host
Hosted by Brenda Oldfield
Ralph, my husband, and I love to fish and boat on the Kentucky River as well as enjoy the countryside beauty of our scenic state. Entertaining family and friends with southern style hospitality is very important to us. We love people and want to provide a place for others to experience the beauty of the outdoors and nature.
Why they chose this property
We originally looked at this property because we wanted to have access to the river for boating and fishing. Though the house needed to be completely remodeled and the lot was severely over grown with weeds and brush, the view was overwhelmingly beautiful and made all the hard work worth it. We could see so many possibilities for this property.
