We loved this pet friendly cabin! Proximity to the water for fishing was absolutely perfect (steps off the back porch) and the view from the cabin is beautiful! Very peaceful location. Hot tub was a great additional feature, with the same great view of the water. Ample firewood provided for the wood burning stove for our weekend stay. Absolute only downside of this location would be that you are not able to have an outdoor fire.

This cabin is situated on 6 acres of huge awesome deciduous trees. They add to the privacy, but the leaves on the ground and the floating embers from the burning wood of campfires create a huge fire hazard for us.
Thank you for your review ! This particular cabin has a gentle approach to the river which makes it a great choice for children and pets., or those with mobility issues.
We enjoyed our stay at the cabin on the river. The location is great. It was a nice relaxing stay with a beautiful view and nice accommodations.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review ! It makes my staff happy to know they have served you well. All too many times, persons will 'make' time to complain. Thank you again.
thank you ! I may add, I owe a lot to my tremendous staff who ties it all together. Having a staff on premise, is seldom seen with vacation home rentals.
Very cozy cabin at an ideal location. We had privacy yet close to amenities. Loved the hot tub. We will definitely stay at this cabin again.

The place was very nice and quiet. Private access to the river and not far from the Otter creek wilderness.

Great winter weekend getaway!
We loved this cabin! Stayed for a weekend but would have loved it to have been a week here. The kitchen was equipped well and the hot tub on the deck overlooking the river was fabulous. We plan to come back this summer!

Thank you ! We are happy to hear that you have enjoyed the 'Backroads of WV' and found our riverFRONT accommodations "perfect". Our unique establishment is a WV icon,. and has served travelers for generations. :-) Thanks again.
It was the much needed relaxing and quiet vacation we needed. Property manager, Roxy, and her team were extremely professional and shared lots of great information about the area. Our dog ****LOVED**** it. If you are looking for takeout, we highly recommend the white pizza and eggplant rollatini from Mama Mia’s in downtown Elkins. They are authentic!

thanks ! you touched on everything that is great about our property
Cold . Rain. Muddy. Cabin warm. Clean. No towels for showers. One kitchen towel. Well water had a bad odor. I guess that’s to be expected . Overall a good place to stay if I go back to the area.

Can't do much about the weather, and I don't know how we can improve communication in regard to the "ThingsTo Bring". Below is an exact copy of the verbage of that email:
<<<<>>>
To further explain: We do not have an on premise laundry, so we would have to collect soiled towels daily and have a housekeeper launder them in town. A cost analysis suggests that the more economical way would be stock the cabins with new towels, and dispose of them. Either way, the cost would be passed on to the guest so we have chosen the most economical, common sense method....having the guests to provide towels.
City water service has already been installed, just waiting for them to turn it on. We will soon be trading the mineral smell for the chemical smell. For this reason, we will keep 'bottled water' on our list of 'Things to Bring".
Thank you for the opportunity to elaborate on these topics

The property was great! The only thing that we didn't like was the strong iron smell and taste in the water and that the Wi-Fi password didn't work. I could not get a hold of anyone in the office when I tried to call about the password.

We have someone at our office 24/7. This is where you picked up your keuy. Additionally, we monitor calls 24/7, howeve you must listen to the message in order to select the correct prompt for the call to forward to a staff person. It is neccesary for us to use this phone answering system becasue of the numerous robo calls we are receiving...and you certainly understand that if we answer a robo just one time....it opens the flood gates for many, many more. Yesterday we had 25 attempted robo contacts. Also,...good news...city water will soon be available...but then it will probably smell like chemicals :-/ Thanks for your comments,
I enjoyed my stay at this cabin. The location is wonderful. There is room for improvement.
The interior walls (logs) were extremely dusty. The ceiling fan also caked with dust. Not a good environment for a dust allergy.

Authentic log cabins are subject to that when you consider the interior walls are not smooth, wood burning fireplaces exist....and we permit dogs. All of which are dust producing. Since August when the fireplace has been use, we have only had a few 'single' days open, which is definitely not enough time to dust each and every log from top to bottom without canceling someone's reservation to be able to do so.. That would make someone VERY unhappy, and win us a ONE star review ! For this reason, we schedule these bigger maintenance tasks for slower times of the year. Taking into consideration the numbers of persons that have stayed at this property, and the content of other reviews...no one else has considered this a problem. As we are approaching the time of the year that our staff has extended access to the cabins, I will ask them to do this cabin first.
Nice quiet cabin. River is closer than the pictures make it seem. Nice big porch. Dog friendly with a nice dog bed. Appliances are clean and look newer. Linens were nice. I would recommend bringing your own towels and a couple throw blankets. Towels were the only thing not provided and the leather couch could be a little chilly. Town was nice and has everything needed. Overall a great experience.

Thank you for you review. The appliances are newer than what is pictured, so I will update the photos. Thanks for that mention.
You are also correct about the other mentions. We actually email a list of things to bring.,. Towels are on the list...as well as the suggestion for throws to cover the leather couches. :-)

What makes this property unique
This stretch of riverfront offers privacy that is hard to come by as other areas have developed with camping parks and cabins. It’s perfect for fishing enthusiasts as it sits along the Shavers Fork of the Cheat River, which is a notorious, heavily stacked stream. The location adjacent to the Monongahela National Forest offers tons of opportunities to get outside! Proximity to the ski-resorts (30 miles to Canaan/Timberline, 50 miles to Snowshoe/Silver Creek) offers the option of downhill skiing too for day trips. Within a short drive is Elkins, known as a quirky, eclectic town where you will find interesting shops and restaurants in addition to the conventional retail outlets and grocery stores.
