Enjoyed our stay ver much. We had received some disappointing news on our way to the mountains and this was the perfect place to chill out and process everything.
The bed was very comfortable and the accommodations were perfect for what we needed. I would definitely be back. The stars from the deck were beautiful!

Thanks for the review! Come back anytime. Glad you had a nice time and enjoyed the bed and stargazing!
Nice property off the beaten path. Road was bumpy, but no issues on accessing the property, can easily drive a car there in the summer. Clean, comfortable house, stayed there with us and 2 kids.

Thank you for the review!Glad you had a nice time. Please come back anytime you like.
The cabin was great, clean and very accommodating. Nestled in a densely wooded spot with frequent wildlife views from the balcony. The fresh mountain air was pleasant to breath. Absolutely hope to revisit.

Perfect location. Clean and well stocked kitchen. Have seen other comments on the road access-it is not terrible and the norm for the area.

Wonderful Mountain Retreat
The mountain house on Valley of the Sun rd was absolutely perfect! It was clean, plenty of room and all the conveniences of home. Got to see a few deer, a moose and a bear from the deck. We loved it.

From the owner: "I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay and got the full experience! While it is common to see moose, deer, and bears here, it's not so common to see them all on the same trip. Congrats!"
Very accurate description of the property. Good communication with host was very much appreciated. The serene location was very relaxing. Only drawback was condtion of the roads getting there but was tolerable with our truck. Thanks for sharing your lovely property!

From the owner: "We agree the location is serene. The road up is rough, but that helps keep it quiet and is part of your Colorado adventure. The mountains are calling!"
We liked this property it’s definitely unique and a great mountain option. The property was clean enough on arrival and we were surprised how roomy it was. Two things though- the pilot light makes this cabin super hot in summer, we ended up sleeping in basement rooms because it was so uncomfortably hot and the pilot light had to stay on. It would also be helpful to maybe have a binder or folder of reminders of things while staying there. The owner was very nice and we really enjoyed our stay.

From the owner: "Even at 11,000 feet, things can get toasty in the summer in Colorado. We keep box fans in the loft bedroom to place in the window to pull the night air in. It's lovely."
I am unable to review the original purchased site but I can say Jesse did an amazing job finding a replacement site for us last minute for Christmas. The original place we were supposed to stay at became damaged by unforeseen extreme weather!! Thank you for the beautiful accommodations and saving my family’s Christmas!

Disliked: Communication
We (three women, two dogs) mostly enjoyed our stay. The good: darling cabin, just as described. The beds and bedrooms were comfortable, we loved the bathrooms. The common area and deck were perfect for hanging out. There are two trails a short drive (less than 5 minutes?) Away. If you're coming from close to sea level we highly recommend starting with the short pika trail. Do not even attempt the pennsylvania mountain trail until you can do the pika trail! Both are beautiful. There are a number of great trails in the larger area. We used the app "all trails". There's parking for a camper, however it is at an incline and one of our friends had to use the inside bed because she was not able to get her camper level. The bad: the cabin is managed by a sub-par management company. We arrived to a chemical haze which resulted in nasty headaches. The coffee machine wasn't working, the deck had a broken board and there was a bloodstain on one of the beds. When we left an email, the reply suggested we get ahold of the representative. Who did not answer his phone and had a full voicemail. We tried repeatedly. And then just made do (coffee maker in the camper, aired out overnight, used our own sheets).Overall we enjoyed our stay, but the adorable cabin really deserves better management.

From the Owner: "Thank you for your review. I’m glad you enjoyed the cabin and the surrounding area. I do regret your experience with the management of the cabin, specifically with me as the owner representative.I haven’t yet gotten fully accustomed to answering unknown phone calls in this role, and at the same time, I didn’t realize my voicemail inbox was full. Because of that, I wasn’t able to address your concerns promptly. While most of our guests communicate through email or text message, that’s no excuse, and I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this caused."

Great property, very difficult road to get there
Everything was completely updated, very clean, very nice home secluded away from everything. Easy access to incredible hikes within 30-45 minutes. Everything we wanted and needed for our 5 days with our daughter.
Unfortunately, not within the control of the owner or the management company, County Road 1 and Vallley of the Sun Road were absolutely in horrible shape and amongst the worst CR in the area as we travelled to the different trailheads in the area for our hikes. Yes, all wheel drive or 4 wheel drive is required, but it’s a shame that a country road superintendent could allow the road to get in this bad of shape with so many tax payers with nice home on those road. Be careful and take it slow.

From the owner: "We are glad you enjoyed our home! Glad our pride in ownership shines through. Agree the hiking in the area is breathtaking. We have reached out to county public works regarding the condition of the road. We have always found it to be quite passable, but the high snowpack from last winter has caused it to be more rutty than normal this season."
The cabin was fairly nice. Was a little frustrated at first as the listing said 2 twin beds and we couldn't find the other (It was under the other twin down stairs). Like other reviews stated, the dirt/gravel roads were kinda cruddy; not the property owners fault. Similar to roads where we're from so it wasn't to bad for us. They few issues that we experienced:- No vent in the kitchen for cooking on the stove. One morning, I went to make breakfast for the wife and kids and just a little smoke set off all smoke alarms in the house for 5 mins. Sadly, kids didn't get eggs for rest of the week. - The water temperature was kinda all over the place. Not able to get hot water in the kitchen and it would go from warm to hot while taking a shower (not hot enough to burn but hot enough to adjust down some)- Feels like there is a step missing outside. When walking from the drive way up to the front stairs, every step is good until you get to the last one. It was twice as high as the others. - With 6 of us, the garbage can outside got full quick. We had to leave a day early and it was completely full. - Some garbage scattered on the property. Not necessarily on the owners. Being Midwest nice, the kids went around and picked it up. There was also left over garbage in the can. - Talking about Midwest nice, the wife found several things in the cabinets left over from previous vacationers that were way past expired. To make sure no one got sick, she threw some o

Hi Kyle, we want our guests to arrive at a vacation home that’s 100% ready for their stay, so we take feedback like yours seriously. After reviewing your comments with the homeowner, they’d like to share the following:- The second twin bed is a trundle, tucked underneath the other downstairs twin, and we’ll work with our team to ensure this is made clearer in the listing.- The roads leading to the cabin are maintained by the county and can be rougher after the snowmelt, though they’re typically manageable with a standard vehicle in warmer months; 4WD is recommended in the listing.- The kitchen doesn’t have a vent hood, but with high ceilings and operable windows, there’s enough ventilation for typical cooking, though we’re sorry to hear your breakfast plans were disrupted.- The home uses a tankless water heater, which can lead to some temperature variation, especially at peak usage times. We'll take another look to see if adjustments can be made.- The landscaping is designed to blend with the natural slope of the property. We do note the stairs in our listing description to ensure guests know about them before booking our property. We are sorry you had difficulty with them.- The outdoor trash can has a set capacity and may fill quickly with larger groups. We’ve followed up with the cleaners to ensure it’s fully emptied before each arrival. Thanks for going the extra mile to pick up litter; snowmelt can occasionally uncover debris from neighboring areas, and we’ll continue to monitor the grounds more closely. Thanks again, and we hope that you keep us in mind for your future travels!
