About this property
Genuine Kiwi Bach at Stay Waiheke
Summary:
Tucked above native bush and filled with birdsong, Genuine Kiwi Bach is a relaxed, family-friendly retreat with plenty of space, flexible sleeping options, and easy access to Little Oneroa, Oneroa Village, and the island’s favourite beaches and vineyards.
The Space:
Genuine Kiwi Bach is made for simple, relaxed living with open-plan spaces, wide lawns, and bush views that catch the evening light. The main house centres around an easy kitchen, dining, and lounge area with large windows, soft natural light, and an indoor fireplace for cooler nights. Open shelves, cottage details, and comfortable seating give the home that classic Waiheke bach feel: nothing complicated, everything you need.
A covered outdoor dining area with heating and a ready-to-use BBQ extends the living outdoors, perfect for long evening meals or lazy afternoon catch-ups while the birds settle into the trees around you.
The main house includes two bedrooms and one bathroom. A separate sleep-out adds two more bedrooms and an additional bathroom, ideal for extended families, friends travelling together, or older children wanting their own space. Large windows and easy garden access give the sleep-out a quiet, private feel while still being close to the main house.
The grounds are spacious, with flat lawn and room for kids to play. Surfboards and kayaks are stored on site, just bring them down to the beach and enjoy a classic island day.

The Neighborhood:
Genuine Kiwi Bach sits in a central, easy location close to beaches, shops, and transport. It’s around a 10-minute drive from both Matiatia passenger ferry and Kennedy Point car ferry. A bus stop at the end of the street makes getting around simple, with a short 10-minute walk back to the property.
Little Oneroa Beach is just a 1-minute drive or a relaxed 15-minute walk to calm water, a convenient store, good coffee, and a local favourite for fish and chips on the sand.
Oneroa Village is close by for cafés, shops, and everyday essentials. A great lunch spot: Two Fat Buns, grab their award-winning Beef Bun Burger and take it to the beachfront. For a beautiful evening dinner, The Oyster Inn offers fresh oysters, local seafood, and a relaxed dining room overlooking the bay.
You’re also well placed for some of Waiheke’s best vineyards, including Mudbrick, Cable Bay, Tantalus, Stonyridge, Te Motu, and Casita Miro all within a short drive.

Other Things to Note:
Like most Waiheke homes, Genuine Kiwi Bach runs on rainwater, so we ask guests to use it thoughtfully during their stay.
The property is pet-friendly, though please note it’s only partially fenced, so supervision is needed for dogs. With steps and sloping garden areas, the home may not suit guests with limited mobility.
Minimum stay requirements apply, seven nights from mid-December to mid-January, three nights on holiday weekends, and two nights at all other times.
Interaction with Guests:
Our Stay Waiheke team is available 7 days a week, 8:30am – 5:00pm, with after-hours assistance for urgent matters.
For life-threatening emergencies such as fire, medical events, or urgent police matters, call 111 immediately.
For urgent after-hours issues that are not life-threatening, an emergency number is provided in your arrival instructions.
