The night we checked in, it was obvious it had not been cleaned from the previous tenant. A lot of long black hairs in the master bathroom, toothpaste on the faucet and in the sink, an old bar of soap on the floor of the master bath shower, and just a general state of uncleanliness. It was late, so I took pictures for proof and proceeded to clean the house before the rest of my family arrived. When we left, we left the place much cleaner than we had found it. About a week after we had rented the house, the owner notified me that there had been damage to the back deck railing. From photos the owner sent me, I recognized that there had been furniture in front of the damage when we were there. I told her there was no way we had done that damage. I went on to inform her of the condition of the home when we got there and sent her the pictures. She did not refund my security deposit and since then she has been non-responsive to me. I have filed a complaint with Home Away.
