S. Gregorio is one of the last towns on the Ionian coast, which borders the western side of the Salento Peninsula. It is a small, very quiet, and uncrowded village with two newsstands, a mini-market, two bars, and two restaurants serving fresh seafood. Due to its geography, the bay on which it sits was once a natural harbor. The surrounding coastline alternates between small rocky coves and stretches of fine white sand.
About 4 km south of S. Gregorio lies S. Maria di Leuca, a lively and popular port town; Gallipoli is a 15-minute drive away, Otranto is a 30-minute drive away, and Lecce—where you can admire the “Lecce Baroque”—is an hour’s drive away.
