Good location

Great property with everything you could require, nice pool. Great views of Kalyves and the surrounding landscape. Lovely taverna just down the road and a nice shop. Highly recommend

Fabulous out of the way villa

Villa Vangelis sits on its own among the olive groves, you look down on to the plain and all you can hear are the goat bells. This is a well equipped villa, with all you could want and an excellent pool area. Yes it is out of the way up a narrow bumpy road, and that's why we like it. Stylos nearby has tavernas, coffee shops and a mini market.

our stay at villa vangelis

the view, the tranquility, the greenery surrounding the house the bad road was a test for my vehicle which is lower and it was not a pleasant experience to pass it more than a few times a day, problem finding the cottage. Down in the village itself there should be a signpost.

Great villa

It's a lovely villa, very well kept. Excellent pool and good facilities, although the shower room is a tad small. You need to be much more explicit about the condition of the road up from Stylos. There is nothing in the booking info online about how rough the road is. To say, in the info provided AFTER booking, that it's a "bumpy country road" is economical with the truth. I've driven many rough and unmade roads but that is the worst public road I've ever driven over, and right at the limits of what a Nissan Micra could cope with. If I'd known in advance how bad it was I'd have booked a 4WD car.

The perfect family holiday

This villa was perfect. The views are incredible with the ocean in front and mountains behind. There are loads of different seating areas to enjoy meals/ drinks at different times of day, its completely private and not overlooked, the pool is great for kids and adults, the garden has loads of beautiful flowers and curious lizzards, the inside is both stylish and well equipped. What more can i say...dont hesitate in booking. The only slight problem was arriving late at night. Its up in an olive grove above the village and the track is pretty small. The directions are very accurate though so persevere even if you lose faith! Leave a second key (spare) somewhere hidden nearby so if you lock yourself out we dont have to bother the owner...although she was very nice about it!

Far exceeded expectations

From the moment of booking Villa Vangelis, Freelance Villas provided us with friendly and helpful information. No need to buy travel guides - it was all there in the Villa Guide, from local insider information regarding local tavernas, sights and shopping, to recommendations further afield. Directions to the Villa were impeccable - Villa Vangelis is a little'out of the way' - but the directions took us straight there. On arrival, Villa Vangelis lived up to all our expectations and beyond. Fabulous views, gorgeous pool area, and comfortable outside, shaded living area. We particularly appreciated that the outside area was well lit for the longer October evenings. (Lights could also be switched off to appreciate the star lit night sky.) A great choice of really good tavernas within a short drive. We particularly liked the understated and closest beach at Kyani Akti with its simple taverna offering delicious food, good service and a few sun beds. Also a lovely walk along the beach to Kalives. Overall a wonderful experience provided by the very friendly, but politely distanced staff at Freelance Villas. Couldn't recommend more highly both Freelance Villas and Villa Vangelis.

Superb Villa

The villa is in a beautiful location with a stunning view. It is extremely well equipped. The air con is modern and very effective. The pools is just amazing. Lots of outdoor space to enjoy with multiple seating areas. We received a welcome pack of food/drinks that was really useful as we arrived quite late. The housekeeping, pool cleaning etc. was superb. The supply of things like dishwasher tablets, washing capsules, washing up liquid, toilet rolls, was very welcome, not the sort of things you want to buy on holiday. The communication and support from both freelance and the villa owners has been exemplary. I have and would recommend Freelance villas to others. The app was extremely useful. All in all a very relaxing holiday. Not a complaint, but be aware that the villa is approached on a very rough track. I would recommend getting full car insurance in case of damage. I think it would be hard to improve this excellent villa

Perfekte Griechische Gastfreundschaft, Perfekte Organisation durch Freelancevillas.com

Ein wunderschönes Anwesen inmitten eines am Hang gelegenen Olivenhains. Ein typisches kretisches Steinhaus, sehr umfangreich mit alllem ausgestattet was den Aufenthalt angenehm macht. Ein Geländegängiges Fahrzeug (wir hatten einen T-Cross) ist erforderlich, um dieses 7 min. vom Dorf Stylos Abseits gelegene Mediterrane Nest zu erreichen. Die Aussicht in die Souda Bucht ist sensationell. Wer absolute Ruhe, neben den Geräuschen der Natur, liebt ist hier richtig. Vaso und Vangelis sind äußerst gastfreundliche Eigentümer die sofort auf jeden Wunsch reagieren. Die 2x wöchentliche Poolreinigung und auch sonstiges Housekeeping wird von Ihnen selbst durchgeführt. Es macht Freude sich bei der Gelegenheit mit diesen voller positiver Energie aufgeladenen Menschen zu unterhalten. Man fühlt sich als wenn man zur Familie gehören würde. Die gesamte professionelle Organisation und die vorbereitenden Informationen über Freelancevillas.com verdient ebenso eine Bewertung von ***** Das wird schwierig.......

Amazing Villa - Totally Private and the Views are amazing

We really loved the outside space at Villa Vangelis. Photos can't really do it justice. You have the mountains, the sea and wildlife. It's a fantastic place to stay for a couple or young family. I would add that you definitely need a car (the village is a half hour walk) and get a car that doesn't mind a few bumps in the road (the road up to the Villa is bumpy). This will make your stay more enjoyable. Will definitely go back.

Authentic Cretan life

Traditional stone house with an excellent location above the village of Stylos to experience the true Cretan lifestyle. The owners Vaso and Vangelis are great hosts with exceptional service and both the village tavernas serve the traditional Cretan Sunday roast meats from the spit. No improvement required - truly fantastic house and location

Schöne Unterkunft mit Panorama-Blick

Wir hatten 2 sehr schöne Wochen dort verbracht. Die Unterkunft ist sehr sauber. Man hat eine tolle Aussicht auf die Umgebung. Die großzügige Terrasse und der schöne Pool hat uns sehr gefallen. Diane, unsere Ansprechpartnerin, war zu jeder Zeit erreichbar und war sehr bemüht schnell kleine Probleme zu lösen. Auch ein großen Dank an ihre sehr freundliche Mitarbeiterin Vasso vor Ort. Wir empfehlen den kleinen Supermarkt "cretan market" in Kalyves. Dort bekommt man regionale Produkte. Gleich gegenüber befindet sich auch die Fleischerei und Bäckerei. Die Küche ist veraltet und könnte erneuert werden. Eine externe Dusche am Pool ist leider nicht vorhanden. Der Weg zum Haus ist kaum asphaltiert und sehr holprig. Wir empfehlen ein PS-starkes Auto, um die Bergsteigerung leicht zu überwinden.
