Great 2 Bedroom Apartment with wonderful views, Swimming Pool and Jacuzzi

Vine Ridge Apartment is below the owners house. It is reachable within 1 hour from Malaga and situated less than 1 mile up a typical Andalucian track just below the beautiful 'Blanco' village of Comares. It has been designed to take full advantage of the 'Breathtaking' views which take into account both the Mediterranean and also the Rugged Mountain Ranges .'Vine Ridge' Apartment is a flexible, comfy and well equipped self contained unit which is 'Excellent Value' in stunning surroundings. The accommodation includes use of a 'Roman ' stepped swimming pool from which the Mediterranean can be seen and also the peaks of Mount Maroma. There is also an outdoor shower. Hot tub available at extra cost.
It has plenty of terraces, outdoor tables and seating and from wherever you look you will see another view, which is appropriate as we located on the 'Buena Vista' walking route with it's amazing views of Andalucia.


Who are we ??: It is always nice to know who you are renting from :
Myself (David) and my wife Jacqui purchased this property in 2008 with the aim to offer ' Good Value' holidays which we would ourselves appreciate.
The Apartment was opened in 2009 to a high standard but with realistic pricing to help people discover this stunning area of Spain.
We have 3 grown up children and 3 friendly dogs.

Our aim is to allow couples and families to enjoy the beautiful Andalucian surroundings, which 'Vine Ridge' Apartment is designed to achieve .
The views still give us the 'WOW' factor after 16 years of living here and we are confident that they will do likewise for you .
We can offer a Taxi service and hope that all our customers holidays will be enjoyable and fun at a very 'Realistic' price .
Within one hour of Malaga and you discover Vine Ridge !!
We also have the Studio next door which sleeps 2 guests
Local Activities and Comares Village Facilities: Comares can be reached in 10 min drive and 30 min walking and once there it's wonderful Moorish history can be enjoyed via its well planned walking route.
In the quaint village there are several restaurants where you can enjoy 'Spanish or English ' Fayre all child friendly.
Also a large communal swimming pool opened in July and August .
The property is located up a track which is part concrete and part dirt. It is a 5 minute drive from the main road and there is no need for a 4 x 4 to access us.
The area lends itself to Walking and Mountain Biking. Zip wire and Mountain climbing.

The lovely resort of Nerja and it's famous caves.
The unspoilt beach resort of Torre Del Mar, with it's pleasant promenade, numerous parks area and diverse eateries.
Mountain drives as short or long as you require.
Malaga city centre is just under the hour and it's culture and shopping facilities are often missed by travellers who just use the airport facilities.
The wonderfully historic city of Granada is reachable in less than 2 hours.
Also Gibraltar is just a day out from Vine Ridge Retreats

One of the best locations I've ever had the pleasure of staying in. The most amazing panoramic views to be had. Comares village is just a 5 minute drive up the road with restaurants and a few bars, the village is very chilled with great views. Vine Ridge has everything you need with a fantastic pool, BBQ area and plenty of lounging space. Lovely cute friendly dogs too. David and his family are lovely and very accommodating people. I'm sure I'll be back in Comares someday and would love to stay at Vine Ridge again. An awesome unique place. A big thank you to David and Family! Josh :)

Beautiful views

This is a nice little studio apartment with a view out onto a beautiful valley. As with a lot of inland Spain, the views are stunning. The property is easy to find and the track you traverse, to get to it, is pretty good (easily achievable in a Panda). The pool is lovely, it is very quiet and there is a track that provides a pleasant walk up to Comares, a little village perched right on top of a rocky edifice. For peace and tranquillity, look no further. Relax and chill. I am an explorer, however, so my only minor gripe was that it is quite a long way from anywhere, though the more commercial coast is not too far away. For the intrepid, there are plenty of roads to explore and even higher villages but I would recommend Antequera's Alcazaba, via El Torcal Natural Park, which is beautiful in June. I also visited Ronda but that's a fair old distance but so worth it. There is a nice lake, to the north, but not much around it.

Super séjour. David et Jakie des hôtes charmants et disponibles. Sont toujours là pour répondre aux demandes,et donnent des conseils pour visiter les environs. L'appartement est. très sympa ,piscine et tous les différents espaces pour se détendre sont agréables.

Der Ausblick ist ein Traum, die Wohnung hat alles was man braucht, die Sonnenaufgänge muss man gesehen haben, die Besitzer David und seine Frau sind immer hilfsbereit aber nicht aufdringlich, der Pool sowie der Wirlpool runden den Urlaub ab, 3 freundliche Hunde schauen ab und zu auch mal vorbei, die Auffahrt sollte besser beschrieben sein, für uns als Motorradfahrer sehr abenteuerlich! Das Haus kann ich nur empfehlen.

A big thank you

We returned to the UK from Vine Ridge and came crashing back to reality! Our week spent in the Vine Ridge apartment, hosted by David and Jacqui, was the tonic we very much needed. Our journey started with the breathtaking trip up to the house - breathtaking in more ways than one! They made us very welcome, and at the same time never intruded. The apartment met all our expectations, as did the swimming pool area and, of course, the hot tub! We woke each morning to the most fantastic views of the mountains and the valleys of the area. Our first place to visit was Comares, and we were very taken with the white buildings, the winding alleys and the spectacular views all around, and we were amongst the local Spanish and their culture. We visited Torre del Mar, Nerja, Benamargosa, the reservoir of Vinuela, and El Torcal near Antequera (a geological sight to see). We enjoyed meals out, especially at El Molino in Los Ventorros, and the Bar Camping in Comares. The rest of the time, we spent the rest of the time enjoying the sun. bbq and wine in and around the apartment and pool at Vine Ridge. Thank you David and Jacqui, and we sincerely hope to be paying you another visit.

Beautiful location, stunning views, immaculate apartment, lovely hosts

We spent a fabulous few days in the apartment. The apartment although small has everything you would need and is very well equipped inside and out. The apartment and bbq area look directly out at stunning views over mountains, valleys and the sea. It was too cool to try the pool, but the jacuzzi was fabulous. David and Jacqui were wonderful hosts, helpful and considerate, while respecting our privacy. The directions up the road to the villa were perfect as was the welcome when we reached the top. The apartment is in a fantastic location for exploring mountains, sea, natural parks as well as the towns and cities of Malaga and Granada.

Excellent apartment. The host were fantastic.

We have stayed in Spain before but not in such a remote area. We had a very relaxing and peaceful stay. The views and area is stunning and can’t complain about anything apart from when you turn off the main road the route to the villa was somewhat testing. Our first encounter of the road was in the dark so if you are going to Vine Ridge try to arrive in day light and when hiring a car make sure it has some power has a Fiat panda does not cut it on that road. Overall one of the best holidays.

Un séjour très agréable...

L'appartement mis à disposition offre une vue magnifique sur les montagnes andalouses. Situé en contrebas du village de Comares il y fait calme, c'est l'endroit idéal pour le repos ou les promenades pédestres accompagnées par les chants des oiseaux. Les propriétaires David et Jacqui sont charmants, discrets et serviables. Nous y retournerons volontiers. Jacques et Laurence

Vine Ridge October 2016

We stayed in the Swimming Pool Studio at Vine Ridge from 21st to 27th October 2016. There is little we can add to previous reviews. The studio was perfect for a couple, being quite small, very clean and containing everything that might be needed for a holiday. Vine Ridge has a wonderfully peaceful aura and the views are absolutely stunning. Being not so warm at the time that we went, we didn’t make use of the swimming pool but thoroughly enjoyed the Jacuzzi in the evenings. The location of Vine Ridge makes it an ideal spot for those wishing to make day trips around the Axarquia region. The centre of Comares is a 45 minute walk up the hillside but easily manageable for the relatively fit. David and Jacqui (and dogs) were wonderful hosts and had supplied us with unexpected provisions upon our arrival, and were a great source of information and advice on a wide range of subjects. We would return to Vine Ridge or recommend to others without hesitation. Colin & Agnes Nos alojamos en la piscina Estudio en Vine Ridge, del 21 al 27 de de octubre de 2016. Poco podemos añadir a los comentarios anteriores. El estudio era perfecto para una pareja, siendo bastante pequeño, muy limpio y con todo lo necesario para unas vacaciones. Vine Ridge dispone de un aura muy tranquila y las vistas son absolutamente impresionantes. No hizo calor durante nuestra estancia por lo que no usamos la piscina, pero disfrutamos mucho del jacuzzi en las noches. La ubicación de la Vine Ridge es ideal para aquellos que deseen hacer excursiones de un día alrededor de la zona de la Axarquía. El centro de Comares se encuentra a 45 minutos a pie hasta la ladera pero fácilmente manejable para viajeros en buena forma fisica. David y Jacqui (y sus perros) fueron anfitriones maravillosos y nos ofrecieron inesperadas provisiones a nuestra llegada, y fueron una gran fuente de información y asesoramiento sobre una amplia gama de temas. "A fantastic holiday!!!"

You'll never tire of the stunning views from 'Vine Ridge', especially at dusk when the mountains get sprinkled with fairy dust. It's difficult to drag yourself away, but it's worth it just for the drive back, and 'that view' again! Well done David and Jacqui, you've created 'holiday heaven'. Please DON'T change a thing. Our young family loved our 'Spanish' holiday. They could have slept in the pool, and played with the dogs all day. I believe you won't find a better place for value, relaxation, and views. Relaxing break in a stunning location

We stayed in the apartment which was perfectly equipped for our stay. If you want a relaxing break away from everything then this is for you. The accommodation was as described on owners direct / the owner's website and David was more than happy to help if we needed anything / had questions. We hired a car for our stay which was essential, although there are walks from the apartment. We would recommend getting a car that is one or two steps above the most basic - so ford focus or similar as the track is pretty steep but the view is worth it (we drove around the area and could not find a view to match the one from the balcony at the apartment). We visited the El Torcal National Park which is well worth a visit, the Cueva Nerja and saw flamingos at Laguna de Fuente de Piedra. We had a great week and would definitely recommend this to friends / family and we will hopefully be back sometime.

Read the Tin

Looking for the bright lights, late bars and English cooking - then stay on the coast. Vine Ridge is just as described so read what it says on the tin and enjoy, in the knowledge that you will be well looked after by you hosts.

Loved our stay!

We were very well looked after by David and Jacqui. Beautiful views from the apartment and we loved the dogs, they made the holiday for our little boy! The apartment was lovely, with pretty much everything we needed. The track up to the apartment was pretty hairy but we got used to it. Comares was very picturesque and we loved the bar in the main square. Our only criticism would be that the outside/communal areas could in our opinion be neatened up a bit with regards to the sunbeds and bbq area. Otherwise we would highly recommend staying at Vineridge and would certainly return!

Sonnige Tage, herrliche Aussicht und Ruhe.........

Wir hatten eine sehr schöne Woche. Ein herzliches Willkommen durch die zwei- und vierbeinigen Gastgeber; ein Apartment mit Panoramaglastüren und einer herrlichen Aussicht vom Bett, Esstisch......... Es war ein Genuss, zu jeder Tageszeit im Außenbereich das Wetter und das Umfeld wirken zu lassen. In ca. 15 Minuten ist man zu Fuß im malerischen Ort Comares (kleiner Supermarkt, Restaurants etc). Hier starten auch 5 Wanderwege rund um den Ort bzw. in die nähere Umgebung - von 1,5 - 10 Stunden Gehzeit ist für alle Fitnessklassen etwas dabei. Nachdem sich einige der Wege kreuzen kann man auch gut kombinieren und individuelle Touren zusammenstellen. Die Küste mit Stränden ist 30 - 45 (Nerja) Minuten entfernt. Tagesausflüge: in 2 - 2,5 stressfreien Stunden ist man mit dem Auto in Cordoba (Kathedrale etc.) oder Granada (Alhambra etc.). Vine Ridge ist eine sehr gute Basis für eine individuelle Urlaubsmischung. Nun zu den subjektiv empfundenen Einschränkungen: die Matratzen waren für unseren Geschmack zu weich, was aber nicht lange gestört hat. Ärgerlicher war die ungewohnte Geräuschkulisse des Kühlschranks der kleinen Eckküche (Wohnschlafkochraum). Wenn man nur zu zweit ist, kann man diesen aber ohne Mühe in das kleine Nebenzimmer (Kinderzimmer) verbannen. Wenn wir wieder in dieser Ecke Spaniens sind kommen wir wieder! Fab stay again

Second time at Vine Ridge and superb again. View takes your breath away every day. David and Jacqui were great and nothing is to much trouble for them. They are on hand if you need them, but give you plenty of space to relax and enjoy yourself. Pool area is so relaxing and peaceful can't recommend enough. Will be back again next year. A place to totally chill & enjoy the surroundings

What a place! After negotiating the track to the villa the view as soon as you got out of the car made it so worth it, it was amazing. The studio we stayed in was fantastic, everything you needed. Such a tranquil place made you completely de-stress. Loved the dogs, Charlie, Bruno and especially Chico who visited on several occasions because he was in love with our dog Charlie-girl. David and Jacqui and the girls were such perfect hosts, they were very welcoming and made us feel at home straight away. The pool and barbecue area were great and I miss having a paddle. I would definitely recommend Vine Ridge to anyone who wants to get away from it all, its fantastic and I cant wait to go again in October 2013. Cheers, Pauline, Dave and Charlie xxx

A beautiful place to relax and enjoy rural spain

We have just returned from our second visit to Vineridge, having been first in June/July last year. We returned because it really is a beautiful place to be, tranquil and peaceful with wonderful views and everything you could wish for in a relaxing holiday. The area is a million miles from the hustle and bustle of the Costa Resorts and gives you an opportunity to experience rural Spain including the fascinating whitewashed villages of the area. David and Jacqui could not be more hospital as hosts, we felt welcome and at home from the start, they are knowledgeable and helpful in terms of local amenities and places of interest. It is also very useful to be able to purchase drinks and basic foodstuffs which you might have forgotten. It has to be remembered that this is a rural location and a car is more than useful, the track leading to the property is little hair raising initially but more than worth it for the views on arrival! We have already booked to visit again shortly and wouldn't hesitate to recommend to anyone who enjoys a peaceful relaxing holiday with beautiful views and good company!

Fantastic Views !!

The scenery is absolutely stunning, even from sitting inside the apartment looking out. The view itself is ever changing depending on the time of day and the weather! It was wonderful to see 2 different types of eagles within minutes of each other on one day. The hosts, David and Jacqui and their daughters were wonderful, accommodating and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. The trio of dogs Charlie, Bruno and Chico definitely liven the place up - great characters and very friendly. We chose not to hire a car. David provided a friendly Taxi service from the airport for a very reasonable fee. He will also happily be your Taxi Service given a couple of days notice. The apartment itself was spotless and well equipped. There are enough games in the apartment to keep a family occupied for weeks. The floor to ceiling glass doors make the most of the fantastic views. The English Sky TV and WiFi were very welcome !! The nearest village is Comares, a beautiful little place about 725 metres above sea level, again there are stunning views wherever you look and of course a supermarket, pharmacy, bank, tourist office and bars/places to eat. Our favourite place to eat was the Mirador de la Axarquia, also known locally as the Camping Bar. Several people had recommended it and we are so glad we listened. We went several times and each time the food was excellent, with good portion sizes and great value. Service was always friendly. Stunning views from the balcony.

The perfect place to get away from it all

My girlfriend and I stayed in mid September and would strongly recommend staying here to anyone. The views from the apartment are something special, and worth waking up early for, to take in the sunrise over the Andalucian horizon. The apartment is clean, comfortable and nicely decorated, with everything you would need included. David and Jacqui are very friendly and helpful, offering useful tips on things to do in the area (we went horseriding which was a nice way to explore the area). There is lots to do nearby, although you will need to rent a car - probably worth arriving during the day if possible as the drive to the apartment is off road and tricky in the dark, although David kindly met us and led us up.

Smiles from beginning to end!

Wow. Me and my friend decided to try out a villa holiday, and thank goodness we found this place! After an adventurous drive up, we were greeted by the ever smiling David, shown into our perfect apartment for the week, and left to settle in. We fell in love straight away. Really nice and clean, everything you need, decorated really nicely, and when we woke up......WOW!!!! Yes, the reviews of those views are spot on.....you will not tire of the view. Stunning. The pool was gorgeous, and even better being able to look at the views from the pool. Gorgeous surroundings, beautiful to sit out at night. I just can't rate this high enough. The family were all lovely and more than helpful, and the gorgeous Bruno, Charlie and Woodie the dogs kept coming to see us for a cuddle! :) loved it. We really miss the villa and the Cullimores, and will definitely be returning. Smile smile smile.

Peaceful Apartment and The Most Fantastic Views!

Vine Ridge has been one of the best places we've ever visited. Very cozy, peaceful apartment with beautiful views, and tip-top clean!! The owners are such a hospitable family, thanks to them we felt welcome and at home. We definitely recommend Vine Ridge as the best spot for anyone who's looking for either a short term or a long term break! We will be back for a visit as soon as we get a chance!

Dream Home with none of the responsibilities

Everything that was advertised and more. Well maintained property, clean and fresh, with stunning views, and great facilities such as drinks and a little food if you are too chilled to find a supermarket. Also books, games, towels, laid out ... so no need to squeeze more in your suitcase. Easy access to visit other places, though people used to flatter terrain may find they need to rest a couple of times on way to local, and stunningly beautiful, village. Great and informative hospitality. I can't imagine many places offer such a package, and at a great price. We would definitely recommend Vine Ridge to our friends and family.

Jacqui and I moved over from Maidstone in Kent , South of England in 2007 to change our direction in life from in my case working for PLC's in the Record and Brewery industry to setting up a business for ourselves in the tourist industry, I guess with my background of sales and marketing and Jacqui's secretarial experience it seemed a good match to work in an industry where you need to want to help people who are often investing in their one of the most important weeks of the year and also the need to be organised in helping with the numerous questions we often get, here at Vine Ridge Retreats we work on repeat business and recommendations and as you can see after 17 years of which we have run the business we are here for the long-term.

The pleasure of seeing guests faces when they witness how majestic the views are from this incredible area of Spain never fades and in an ever changing world Comares due to being build on a mountain does not change and is often a comfort factor for customers coming back.

Por qué escogió este alojamiento

Our decision making in choosing this area was that for only being one hour from Malaga we are in a stunning part of Andalucia with both Moutain Views and Sea Views.
Vine Ridge Retreats and all the properties we manage is located in the real Spain but with added bonus you can be on the beach in around 30 minutes , the lovely city of Malaga in one hour and also Granada in around 1 hour and 45 minutes.
Comares the local village is only a 10 minute drive from us and can be walked to depending on fitness levels in 20 minutes, again this is an authentic village where tourists and locals mix and the views are simply stunning.
