Hilltop village

Great villa in an amazing location. Comares is a small village with a few bars and a great restaurant. The drive up to Comares is challenging but enjoyable. There are plenty of places to visit within an easy drive. The views from the pool are amazing and we saw the Ibex up close several times . Make sure you've got a torch if you're going to walk up to the village at night .David was easy to contact if we needed him . Fully recommended villa and hopefully we'll be back one day with the whole family.

Very enjoyable stay

We have just spent a fabulous week in the peace and quiet of this lovely property. It is very well equipped and very comfortable. It has beautiful views all around and is very private. We made good use of the bbq and spent much of our time by the pool which gets the sun most of the day. There is a good selection of books and dvds if required. We saw the Ibex on several occasions which was really fascinating. The wonderful town of Comares is only a 10 minute walk away and the people are very friendly. It's a straight forward drive from Malaga airport and we stopped of at a supermarket in Velez - Malaga for our supplies. However, there was a good welcome pack on arrival at the villa if you want to head straight there. We would highly recommend this beautiful property. Thank you Carl and Maria.

Simply the best...

This is a really wonderful house, comfortably furnished and well-equipped with everything you might need - plus a pizza oven! The setting is breathtaking with stunning views in every direction and cleverly placed terraces for optimum sun-bathing at any time of day if you're not by the pool. The pool is a good size; when I arrived late April it was freezing cold, but it had warmed up enough for a bracing swim by the second week. The pool is pretty deep at both end so not suitable for small children or non-swimmers. The drive up to the villa is a challenge the first time, but then becomes part of the fun. The village of Comares is delightful and there's a path from the villa up to the village, which is more rewarding than taking the car. I'd recommend this villa to anyone who wants a remote and very quiet holiday location, but I may well want to go again so please don't book when I want it!

The views from Peña Blanca really are the best in the Comares area. The pool is large and deep although fully fenced and gated for the safety of non swimmers. A well written review. Thanks Sara & remember to book early when you want to return! Carl

Stunning villa with amazing views

We returned today from two weeks at Peña Blanca and have had such a relaxing time (12 books read!!). The photos don’t do it justice at all- the rooms are clean, airy and there are balconies from every upstairs room giving you 360 degree views of the surrounding valleys. We only braved the climb into the village once due to the intense heat but we ate at the ‘Camping’ Mirador three times due to the lovely food at great value for money. If you want to stay away from the ‘tourist’ hotspots then visit Mijas Pueblo ( white hilltop village with lovely shops), Cuevas de Nerja (the VR experience included with the tickets was brilliant!) and if you don’t mind a 2 hour drive on windy mountain roads then Cordoba is beautiful. We used the shop on the village a couple of times for essentials but tended to shop at Eroski in Vélez-Malaga on the way back from days out as it’s a larger supermarket inside a shopping centre (which the teen daughters loved- Zara, Bershka etc!)

4th time staying at Pena Blanca. Never experienced such a sense of space and quietness anywhere. Spanish Ibex popping by to drink from the pool!!! Magical. Such a beautiful Villa in a beautiful spot. Stunning views

First thing to say is that my family and I loved this villa, the location is stunning with views for miles - a real chance to unwind and spend time together. The villa itself is lovely, spacious and the pool is fab (very deep - can’t stand if less than 5’8”). The is a great bbq and pizza oven although we didn’t use the pizza oven. Inside the kitchen is fab and has everything you need. The walk to village is as said only around 10-15 minutes but if you have any mobility issues or breathing problems then I wouldn’t recommend it. A car is essential for the location for shopping etc. There is air con which in Aug is needed but is paid by meter. It is very reasonable (we spent less than €10 for a week) but we didn’t know this in advance which would have been more transparent - I do also understand the logic of the charge. The other thing we were not aware of was the need to dispose of our own rubbish - which was inconvenient but doable in the local village. Better information on recycling and where to do this would have been helpful. The town has a couple of nice eating places which are much alike. Would definitely recommend zip line in Comares and more if you are adventurous! All in all a wonderful holiday! And we saw the Ibex who visited the pool! Thanks to Ursula who met us and showed us to location and Carl who popped in with some things we needed.

Heerlijk vakantiehuis met fantastisch uitzicht

Als je van rust en ruimte houdt dan is dit de perfecte uitvalsbasis. Het huis ligt op een half uur rijden van de kust en een uur van Malaga. Het ligt hoog op de berg, net onder het dorp Comares. Via een steil voetpad ben je in 10 minuten in het dorp. Het huis is van alle gemakken voorzien en heeft meerdere terrassen waar je heerlijk kunt zitten. Uitrusting is echt super. Enige minpunt zijn misschien de bedden, deze vonden wij iets minder maar dat is natuurlijk persoonlijk. Begeleiding en communicatie met de beheerders is super, ze staan meteen voor je klaar en antwoorden snel.

Puisqu’on me demande mon avis alors …

N’y aller pas …. Si vous n’aimez pas la nature , la montagne , les vues grandioses à 360 ° , dans une maison de rêve , gérer par un couple Carl et Maria d’une gentillesse et d’une redoutable efficacité. Je donne à regret un 20/20 car cet endroit est magnifique, j’aurais préféré en garder le secret et ne pas l’ébruiter , mais cela n’aurais pas été correct pour son propriétaire . Bref un lieu MAGIQUE … !!!

Fantastic villa in amazing location

Just got back from spending nine days at Pena Blanca, at what a great holiday it was. We spent the majority of the time at the house, just relaxing and enjoying all the fantastic sunspots and balconies that the villa has, not to mention the swimmingpool. Kitchen is well assorted, even has a nice outdoor kitchen and very nice barbecue - everything clean and well functioning. The rooms are great as well, and all in all - there's not much to not like about this place. The best of it all has to be the amazing view of the surrounding areas - it is simply breathtaking, and time and time again we could sit there and just take in the scenery and enjoy the sheer beauty of it all. All in all, this is a fantastic villa - located on a mountaintop, but still not too far from Malaga or the beach, but the peace and quiet is perfect. We would definitely consider coming back again.

Breathtaking location & beautiful villa

We had an amazing holiday in this absolutely wonderful villa in a stunningly beautiful location. Villa Pena Blanca exceeded our expectations and I would have to say this is by far the best villa that we have ever stayed in! The villa is spacious, tastefully decorated and perfect for large groups or families. The owner has thought of everything and this makes your stay a thousand times easier and more enjoyable. The outside space is equally as fantastic with a well maintained pool and terraces with views to die for. You are surrounded by panoramic views and the various balconies allow you to soak up this phenomenal location. Seeing the local herd of goats and the Ibex on a few nights just made this holiday even more special. I highly recommend a stay in Chris's beautiful villa. Last and not least we really appreciated the warm welcome from Ursula who is a fantastic and welcoming host and who explained everything we needed to know. Carl was also super helpful and responsive regarding our BBQ enquiry. We certainly felt extremely well looked after. I would love to visit again and May/June is certainly a great time to enjoy the amazing temperatures and this beautiful location.

Amazing stay

We had a peaceful stay at Peña Blanca. The house is beautifully decoratet. The kitchen is well equiped. The Pool with the amazing views was our favorite. Stunning views

Excellent villa with stunning views on both sides. It is in a completely quiet and private position, but only 10-15 walk up to the small town of Comares. Villa has everything, was really clean and could easily accommodate 6 adults. Highly recommend if you like it peaceful & quiet.

On top of the world.

Never had a better welcome! Beautiful house with fantastic views, almost 360°. Everything you ever hoped for was there, in-and outdoor kitchen. A place in the shade any time of day and a pool you could actually swim in😀 Ibex and eagles, lots of birds. Comares is a beautiful town and lot to see and do nearby. Hope to come back sometime!

Fantastic villa with unique views

With one year delay due to Corona, we finally managed to get down and spend summer our vacation in this amazing villa in the summer of 2021. It fully lived up to our expectations - and more! We had a wonderful holiday with our two teenage boys aged 16 and 18 respectively. In addition, we had invited our mothers-in-law for 4 of the 14 days we were there. We were all crazy about the pool which was 28 degrees hot. The house is well suited for more people to go. There is plenty of space both indoors and outdoors. A nice welcome was provided for us. There was a bottle of wine in the fridge together with juice and milk, and there were coffee in the cupboard as well as bread and jam for a light breakfast for the next day. However, remember to shop for catering on Sunday if you arrive on Saturday. You have to go all the way to Malaga to find a store that is open on Sundays. It was nice with air conditioning in the bedrooms. Remember to bring coins to the vending machine. The bedrooms are all with a great view and good beds. There were duvets in the closet if you were not only going to sleep with a blanket / cover. For Scandinavians, we can recommend bringing covers for single duvets, as in two of the rooms there are only double covers. The duvets can be used either individually or zipped together to double, which fits in the included cover. There were plenty of towels, tea towels and dishcloths as well as hand soap and sulfo. There was also kitchen roll and toilet paper for the first few days. There are plenty of refrigerators and plenty of space in the cupboards. The supermarket in Comares has pretty much everything, but you can safely buy big in larger supermarkets, because there is plenty of space. There was also plenty of crockery, bowls and pots. We used the grill diligently. The house appeared very clean and tidy as well as well maintained. Action was also taken quickly if a problem arose along the way. Manager Carl and Chris’ brother Andy are both friendly and welcoming and make sure everything is resolved quickly and satisfactorily. The answer will be quickly when you contact with a possible problem. From the time we booked the house in 2019 and until Corona finally let us go, we have all the way experienced an easy and hassle-free communication with Chris. We give both Peña Blanca and Chris our warmest recommendations. We would really like to come again another time! Many greetings from the Johannessen family Hillerød, DK

Schöner Urlaub in Villa mit atemberaubenden Panorama

Die Villa ist sehr schön. Viele Sitzmöglichkeiten auf verschiedenen Terassen, schattig wie auch sonnig. Einladender, sauberer Pool, der 2x die Woche geprüft und gereinigt wurde. Comares ist ein wunderschöner Ort und die Villa auf dem Hügel hat die beste Lage. Ausstattung wie beschrieben, allerdings funktionierte die Klimaanlage nicht richtig und die Villa war nicht so sauber wie wir es uns nach deutschem Standard gewünscht hätten. Wir empfehlen einen Mietwagen mit Automatikschaltung, da die Straßen sehr anspruchsvoll sind. Danke für die freundliche Übergabe und den tollen Urlaub.

Entschuldigung für eine der Klimaanlagen, die aufgrund leerer Batterien der Fernbedienung nicht jetzt ersetzt. Dies wäre während Ihres Aufenthaltes geschehen, wenn Sie uns benachrichtigt hätten. Stunning house with breathtaking views

We’ve just had the most wonderfully relaxing fortnight at this stunning house with its 360* breathtaking views. The house itself is finished to a high standard equipped with everything you could possibly need and has a good sized pool (its quite deep) with plenty of loungers. The house was beautifully clean on arrival and a welcome pack with essentials had thoughtfully been provided. The views from the various furnished balconies and sundowner terrace are spectacular along with the incredible sunsets! The beautiful Moorish village of Comares is only a ten minute uphill walk away with a small supermarket; cafe bar and restaurants. Carl (the owners representative) gave us plenty of useful information about the house and pool etc and was very knowledgeable about the local area and places to visit / dine etc. We’ve always made it a rule not to go to the same place twice but Pena Blanca may well be the exception to the rule! We have not yet been on the trip due to covid. The owner has agreed to defer the holiday let until next year at the same price. We are happy with the communication we have had and are looking forward to staring next year. The ratings we have given can be ignored as we have not yet stayed.

Fantastic house in Comares

Everything was perfect from beginning to end. The house is very clean, large and comfortable. Very peaceful surroundings and spectacular mountains. Spent evenings sitting on the front balcony star gazing. Comares is a beautiful little village. Enjoyed every minute!
